Velkommen til FIN SCENEÅrets FiN Scene-program er dominert av kvinner. Prosjektskapere og regissører som franske Giselle Vienne, tysk-nederlandske Ulrike Quade, franske Claudia B. Poulsen og den unge russiske duoen Maria Kritskaia og Ekaterina Malininia. At det er kvinnene som dominerer programmet er ikke en tilfeldighet eller et utslag av kjønnskvotering. Det er fordi de modigste og mest kompromissløse prosjektene innen figurteater er skapt av kvinner. Og 5 av dem kommer altså til Stamsund. I tillegg byr FIN Scene på g jensyn med folkekjære artister som Michel Laubu fra Turak og Dik Downey fra Pickled Image, og om ikke det var nok, Nordlands eget MeanEnsemble med konsertfavoritten ”Don’t beat your wife (every night)”!

Welcome to FIN SCENE This year’s FiN Scene program is dominated by women. Project makers and directors like the French Giselle Vienne, Dutch-German Ulrike Quade, French Claudia B. Poulsen and the young Russian duo Maria Kritskaia and Ekaterina Malininia. This is not due to coincidence or the result of a female quota. It’s because today the most uncompromising projects are created by women. Five of these women visit Stamsund this year. In addition you’ll find familiar names like Michel Laubu (Turak) and Dik Downey (Pickled Image) in the program. And as if that wasn’t enough Nordland County’s very own MeaNensemble presents their acclaimed concert show “Don’t beat your wife (every night)”!

A visual retelling of Chook & Gek by Arkadiy Gaidar, one of the most popular moral tales during the Soviet-era by the young Russian company Melting Point. About the two kid brothers, “Chook” and “Gek”, and their long journey with their mother from Moscow to the North to celebrate New Year with their father. Melting Point is a newly founded independent theatre company from St. Petersburg with artists from different disciplines. The production is supported by BarentsKult.

En visuell og ordløs g jenfortelling av den unge russiske prosjektgruppen Melting Point, av Chook & Gek av Arkadiy Gaidar, en av de mest populære moralske fortellingen under Sovjet-epoken. En forestilling om de to brødrene, “Chook” og “Gek”, og deres reise med sin mor fra Moskva til det kalde nord for å feire nyttår med sin far. Melting Point er en nystartet uavhengig teatergruppe med base i St. Petersburg, med medlemmer fra ulike kunstneriske disipliner. Produksjonen er støttet av BarentsKult.

Jerk is based on the authentic history of the American serial killer Dean Corll who with the help of teenagers David Brooks and Wayne Henley, killed more than 20 boys in the state of Texas during the 1970s. The performance is a solo and shaped like a reconstruction of the crimes by the young accomplice David Brooks. The creator of the show is the choreographer and puppetmaker Giselle Vienne, an artist who in recent years has received considerable attention for her controversial performances consisting of dark themes such as longing for death, violence and pedophilia. According to Vienne we must also confront us with our fears. Art is a suitable room for this. The performance is presented in collaboration with Stamsund International Theatre Festival. fo

Jerk bygger på den autentiske historien om den amerikanske seriemorderen Dean Corll som med hjelp av tenåringene David Brooks og Wayne Henley, drepte mer enn 20 gutter i delstaten Texas i løpet av 1970-tallet. Forestillingen er en solo og formet som en rekonstruksjon av forbrytelsene av den unge medhjelperen David Brooks. Bak forestillingen står koreografen og dukkemakeren Giselle Vienne, en kunstner som i de siste årene har fått stor oppmerksomhet for sine kontroversielle iscenesettelser hvor mørke tema som dødslengsel, vold og pedofili blir tatt opp. I følge Vienne er vi nødt til også å konfrontere oss med det vi frykter. Kunsten er et egnet rom til dette. Forestillingen presenteres i samarbeid med Stamsund Internasjonale Teaterfestival.

The German born director and puppetartist Ulrike Quade lives and work in Amsterdam. She is regarded as one of the most promising artist in today’s Dutch puppet and visual theatre scene. Quade was nominated to The Hedda Prize for 2010 for her artistic achievement in the Hamsun-performance ”The Writer”, a performance she created in collaboration with Jo Strømgren and Nordland Visual Theatre. Her new performance “Radio Exit Live” combines puppets, dancers and acrobats in a spectacular mix. It can be described a crime mystery from the twilight zone. A man wakes up, listens to the announcement of a crime on the radio and figures out that he has been killed. Out of the shadows comes an unborn child with a fervent desire to be born, to feel the weight and warmth of the human body. Is there a way out for both of them?

Den tyskfødte regissøren og figurteaterartisten Ulrike Quade bor og arbeider i Amsterdam. Hun regnes som en av den nederlandske figurteaterscenens mest lovende artister. I Norge ble hun i 2010 nominert til den prestisjetunge Heddaprisen for sin innsats i Hamsun-forestillingen ”The Writer”, en forestilling hun skapte i samarbeid med Jo Strømgren og Figurteatret i Nordland. Hennes nyeste forestilling ”Radio Exit Live” kombinerer dukker, dansere og akrobater i spektakulær forening. Forestillingen kan beskrives som en krimgåte i svev mellom liv og død. En radio kunng jør nyheten om et bestialsk rovmord. En mann ankommer et skyggeland og oppdager at det er han selv som er mordofferet. Ut fra skyggene trer et ufødt barn, med et inderlig ønske om å bli født og få føle kroppens vekt og varme. Finnes det en vei videre for dem begge?

We are happy to present the French puppet artist Claudia Beaufreton Poulsen with her performance “Sextoys”. The performance is inspired by the aesthetics of the punk movement and the ideas of the French feminist and philosopher Simon de Beauvoir. Poulsen tells that the project was born from the urgent need to position herself as a woman. After reading Beauvoir she had a vision of a punk-woman with a sharp tongue telling a story of a woman with extreme music, taboo breaking words, simplicity and energy. ”Sextoys” is also a research of gender roles, sex icons and a questioning of the female inside the male and vise versa. There are no differences between men and women, we are maybe neither a man, nor a woman but the OTHER ONE! At stage Poulsen is supported by the actor Thierry Robard, the pianist Eve Risser and the guitarist Domnique Morisset. fo

Fra Frankrike kommer sangeren og figurteaterartisten Claudia Beaufreton Poulsen med sitt show “Sextoys”. Forestillingen er inspirert av punkbevegelsen og den franske feministen og filosofen Simon de Beauvoir. Poulsen forteller at prosjektet ble skapt ut fra hennes presserende behov for å posisjonere seg som kvinne. Etter å ha lest Beauvoir så hun foran seg en punk-kvinne med en sylskarp tunge fortelle historien om en kvinne med punk musikk, tabubrytende ord, enkelhet og energi. “Sextoys” er også en utforskning av kjønnsroller, sex ikoner og det feminine i det maskuline og vice versa. ”Sextoys” proklamerer: Det er ingen forskjeller mellom menn og kvinner, vi er kanskje verken en mann eller en kvinne, men DEN ANDRE! Foruten Poulsen selv møter vi på scenen skuespilleren Thierry Robard, pianisten Eve Risser og gitaristen Domnique Morisset.

All lighthouses are automated and the lighthouse keeper has lost his job. He then declares himself “the guardian of all lights” and goes out into the world to find both small and big lights that he can keep and polish. The object-theatre magician Michel Laubu conjure up, using puppets, shadows, objects and audio language strange and poetic fantasy landscapes and scenes. A performance developed at Nordland Visual Theatre, coming directly to Stamsund from the premiere at Le Bateau Feu - Scene nationale Dunkerque. Turak was established by Michel Laubu in 1985 and are based near Lyon, France. Turak have visited the Stamsund festival twice before with “Deux Pierres” in 2009 and “Novelles et Courtes Pierres” in 2010. fo

Alle fyrlyktene er automatisert og fyrvokteren er blitt arbeidsledig. Fyrvokteren erklærer seg for ”vokteren av alle lys” og drar ut i verden for finne små og store lykter som han kan passe og pusse. Objektteatermagikeren Michel Laubu tryller fram, ved hjelp av dukker, skygger, objekter og lydspråk de underligste fantasilandskap og poetiske opptrinn. Forestillingen, som ble utviklet ved Figurteatret i Nordland, kommer til Stamsund direkte fra premiere ved Le Bateau Feu - Scène nationale Dunkerque. Big, bad, guilty? This fey, foppish, ham actor is not as bad as his reputation portrays him. He never intended to do any harm to the tree little piglets, he just wanted to hang out with them. Their houses had bad construction errors and the wolf is not to blame for that. And are the three little piglets really as innocent as they seem to be? Inside the Woolf hides puppetartist Dik Downey, one of the core members of the legendary Pickled Image from Bristol, England, a puppet company who in colabortation with Nordland Visual Theatre have made puppetry hits like ”Hunger”, ”Houdini’s Suitcase” and ”Little Edie”. Dik warns us that the Woolf maybe will haunt the streets of Stamsund both night and day during the festival. Stor og stygg, men er ulven egentlig så slem? Ulvens sjanse til å komme med sin forsvarstale har endelig kommet. Han var aldri ute etter å skade de tre små grisene, han ville bare henge med dem. At husene deres hadde alvorlige konstruksjonsfeil kan ikke ulven klandres for, og er egentlig de tre små grisene så uskyldig som alle skal ha det til? Inne i ulven skjuler seg dukkeskaperen Dik Downey, en av drivkreftene i legendariske Pickled Image fra Bristol i England, som i samarbeid med Figurteatret har skapt figurteater suksesser som ”Hunger”, ”Houdini’s Suitcase” og ”Little Edie”. Dik frykter at ulven i tillegg vil bli å finne ute i Stamsunds gater sent og tidlig under festivalen. Forestillingen presenteres i samarbeid med Stamsund Internasjonale Teaterfestival.

White(Brain)Wash in concert. Fizzling and insane cartoon music, Bugs Bunny style, by the eccentric Raymond Scott, mixed with absurd commercial-fantasies from the American 60’ties. This is The MeaNensemble, a 9 man all star band who performs the concert version of the critically acclaimed theatre comedy show White (Brain) Wash who together with Paolo Nani was performed on stage all over Norway and performed three weeks in Copenhagen. MiNensemblet as the usually is known as has their base in Narvik.

MeaNensemblet, et 9 manns ”All Star Band” varter opp med konsertversjonen av den kritikerroste teaterkomedien White (Brain) Wash som sammen med Paolo Nani ble spilt på scener over hele Norge og spilte tre uker i København. MiNensemblet, som de vanligvis heter, har sin base i Narvik.

Figurteatret i Nordland

Figurteatret i Nordland er et internasjonalt produksjonssenter for figurteater. Teatret ble etablert i 1991 og har 5 fast ansatte. Figurteatret i Nordland spiller en nøkkelrolle i utvikling og promotering av figurteater og visuell scenekunst i Norge. Hvert år produseres 3-5 forestillinger i samarbeid med profesjonelle scenekunstnere/grupper fra inn- og utland.

Figurteatret er forvaltet av Nordland fylkeskommune og finansiert i samarbeid med Vestvågøy Kommune og Norsk Kulturråd.

Nordland Visual Theatre

Nordland Visual Theatre (NVT) is an international centre for production of puppet- and visual theatre. The theatre was established in 1991 and has a staff of 5 employees. NVT plays a key role in developing and promoting visual theatre in Norway. Each year 3-5 productions are made at the theatre. This is done in collaboration with performing artists from all over the world.

Nordland County Council administers NVT and it is financed is collaboration with Vestvågøy Municipality and The Norwegian Arts Council.
