UTC was founded in 1886 as a private institution, Chattanooga University. In 1969 the University and a junior college, Chattanooga City College, merged with The University of Tennessee to form the UTC campus.

The 100+-acre UTC campus is situated only a few blocks from downtown Chattanooga, a city growing in industry and flourishing in natural beauty.

More than 90 percent of UTC’s professors hold terminal degrees.25 people per class with a student faculty ratio of 19:1.

UTC offers 119 different undergraduate programs of study as well as 50+ master’s degrees and 5 doctoral programs.

The UTC campus is anchored by a 172,000+square foot LEED certified library constructed to encourage collaboration, flexibility and academic success.

UTC proudly boasts over 56,000 alumni residing in 58 different countries around the world.

UTC currently enrolls about 11,388 total students who represent more than 70 Tennessee counties, 40 states, and 40 foreign countries.

TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIP

• $2,000 per year award for up to 2 years

• 3.25 cumulative grade point average and Associate’s Degree or 60 college-level earned semester hours (Associate Degrees earned must be an AA, AS, or AST to qualify)

• Deadline to submit the scholarship application is July 1

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE & SCHOLARSHIPSUTC awards more than $80 million in financial aid. About 75 percent of our students receive financial assistance in the form of grants, loans, scholarships, and work-study opportunities. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for any aid or receive the Tennessee Educational Lottery Scholarships (TELS) which includes the HOPE scholarship. UTC’s FAFSA code is 003529.
