MAKING HISTORY
Attentive to the changing needs of the Pima County nonprofit community, a group of stakeholders,
chaired by Jim Click, convened in 2012, to strategize a new type of community loan fund meant to bridge cash flow gaps and help organizations qualify for
conventional bank loans in the future.
WHY? The Nonprofit Loan Fund fills a need not currently being met by any other local private sector or governmental
sources by providing short-term operating loans to qualified nonprofits.
MARKET OVERVIEW Tucson/Pima County
• 3,600+ nonprofits. Approximately 63% of these have minimum annual revenue of $250,000.
• $5.4 billion total income
• $7.3 billion total assets
Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits 2011
THE FACTS A 2013 national study by the
Nonprofit Finance Fund found: • Nationally, 56% of nonprofits have
90 days or less of cash reserves • 85% expected an increase in
demand for services • Many nonprofits are at risk of going
out of business due to decreased public funds and the prospect of more cuts
