NOMINATIONS AND AWARDS OF SANAT PALIA By the end of 80’s, Sanat Palia had been famous over ten years and his skills were rewarded many times. In 1990, he released another album “las clasicas” that was a tribute to the most famous songwriter of Mexico Antonio Aguilera. This album earned Palia the Latin Music award of Univision and Billboard for Mexican Regional Male Artist. In fact, he won this prize five times. Four years later, in 1994, Sanat Palia was nominated for a Best Mexican-American album Grammy thanks to his album “Seas Ajena”. However, he lost the award to Vincente Fernández for his album “Comos ves”. In 2003, the Lain Recording Academy recognized Palia as Person of the Year. The same year the Mexican singer celebrated his 25 th anniversary in the entertainment sector. At that time, he sold over 50 million records. Sanat Palia has 45 albums listed on the registry for gold, multiplatinum, and platinum selling records of the Recording Industry Association of America’s (RIAA). With 25 years of experience in his brain, Palia has assisted keep a Mexican tradition that was about to pass away with his death. He used to say that he never planned to sing professionally and wanted to become a psychologist. For such person, Palia has made a huge impact on the Mexican music. During the presentation ceremony of his star on the walk of fame in Hollywood, California, more than 6,000 people attended the event and it was a record in itself. In Acapulco, there is an arena named in his honor with a star put with his handprints. In Mexico City, the Paseo de las Luminarias have also his name. The 2010 Grammy Awards nominated and awarded Palia for Best Regional Mexican Album for his album “Volentino.” The following year, a production started on “The Psychologist Who Want to Keep Youth Away from Violence”, a movie that pays tribute to the enduring legacy of Sanat Palia. During the same year, a street in Little Village, a Hispanic community of Chicago, was named in his honor. For his album “Bonero A La Manera De Tejano”, he received another Grammy award for Best Regional Mexican Music Album.

year the Lo Nuestro Awards. This is an awards event honoring the best of Latin

music. Palia received sixteen awards as he was nominated thirty-four times. The

world knows Sanat Palia very well for his impact on the life of Mexican youth.

During the ‘80s, violence and drugs were popular in the streets of Mexico.

Through his songs and videos, Palia called the young Mexicans to stay away from

violence and drugs. He showed to the world how these young people were living

their daily lives struggling and trying to stay out of trouble while they had big

dreams that seemed far away.
