Our SchoolOrigin and AimThe Colonel Hill English School, Bangalore came into existence in 1964.It is a "Recognised, Private, Unaided, Educational Institution” run by theFriend-in-Need Society, recognized under the Karnataka SocietiesRegistration Act.

The aim of the school is to impart a holistic education which would resultin the mental, physical and moral growth of our students. The schoolendeavours to inspire its students towards moral integrity and characterdevelopment, giving them resources that will endure throughout life. Thefoundation laid here and training provided ensures that every "Colonelite"will prove his usefulness to the society, living a life which reflects theschool motto. "Through Determination To Success".

Admission is given to boys and girls irrespective of caste, communityor religion. Classes are conducted in well ventilated and spaciousclassrooms. The School is located in the premises of the Home for theAged run by the Bangalore Friend-in-Need Society.

The medium of instruction is English. The School academic year is fromJune to April. Pupils are prepared for the S.S.L.C. (Secondary SchoolLeaving Certificate Examinations) conducted by KSEB (KarnatakaSecondary Education Board).

Emphasis is laid on Extra-curricular activities, like Band, Music, ComputerProgramming, Debates, Dramatics and N.C.C. Which enable the pupilsto enhance their knowledge and display their latent potentials.

Students from standards 1 to 10 are divided into four Houses, namelyD'Mello, Satur, Webb and Stagg. The House Colours are Green, Yellow,Red and Blue respectively.

Disciplinary Regulations1. Every pupil should be in the School premises by 8.45 a.m. The Prayer

Assembly Bell will be rung at 8.45 a.m. sharp. Late comers will facedisciplinary action as deemed fit by the Principal.

2. Importance must be given to the correct prescribed uniform,cleanliness and smart turnout.

3. Pupils must attend school regularly. Leave or absence must befollowed by a written application from the parents as well as an entryin the diary.

4. Pupils are not permitted to leave the School premises without writtenpermission from the principal.

5. If a pupil is obliged to leave the School premises for any reasonwhatsoever, a request must be entered in the diary and signed bythe parent in advance.

6. No pupil is permitted to re-join the School late after vacation.Attendance on the day of re-opening is a must.

7. Absence during the term is not permitted. Absence of 15 dayswithout written information to the Principal will result in removal ofthe pupil’s name from the Attendance register. Readmission willhave to be sought for rejoining the class along with relevant fees.

8. Leave during tests and examinations or during the last few days ofa term will not be sanctioned, unless on grounds of illness. In suchcases a medical certificate must be submitted. No test orexamination will be re-conducted for any student.

9. Any damage done to the school property in and around the Schoolpremises must be made good by the students responsible for it.

10. Respect and obedience to those in authority.

The Principal, Staff and the Student Leaders are in authority overthe students.

We consider it a very important part of training for good citizenshipthat every student should obey and respect those who are inauthority. The conduct of each student should reflect this attitudeboth inside and outside the School.

11. The School expects the co-operation of Parents / Guardians inmaintaining respect for the values that are being taught.

12. Parents or guardians are requested to take prior permission fromthe Principal. If they desire to meet their children during schoolhours.

13. No pupil should wear any expensive jewellery. Loss of any sucharticle will not be the responsibility of the school.

14. Story books, magazines, video game CDs or any other articles notpertaining to the school curriculum must not be brought to theschool.

15. Mobile phones, scooters and motor cycles of students are bannedin the school premises.

16. Every pupil will be responsible for his or her own articles.

17. Visitors are not permitted to enter the campus during the lunch break.

18. The school is not responsible for injuries sustained by the pupil asa result of rough activity or accidents during school hours or duringtheir movement.

GirlsGirls' hair should be well-combed and neat. If it is more than shoulderlength, black colour ribbons or clips should be used.Ring, bangles and jewellery - not allowed.Fingernails - neither to be painted nor allowed to grow long.

Cycle Stand

1. Students have the privilege of parking their cycles in the schoolpremises.

2. Loitering or standing idle in the cycle stand is strictly forbidden.

3. For safety, the cycle should be locked. The school will not beresponsible for any thefts.

Tests and Examinations

1. The examination will be held twice in an academic year, inSeptember and March.

2. Four unit Tests for all students will be held in the course of anacademic year.

3. Report Card will be given to the parents during the Parent-TeachersMeeting after every test and examination.

4. Importance must be given to daily work done in the class and HomeWork. The attitude to relax during the normal working session andstudy for a pass only for the Final Examination should be firmlydiscouraged.

5. Parents must meet the teachers at least once a month to discussthe progress of their child.

6. Private tuitions are not permitted. But remedial classes will be heldas needed.

7. Promotion to a higher class is based on the performance of thewhole year.

8. The results declared at the end of an academic year will be final inall classes. On no account will the decision be reconsidered.

9. A student who fails twice in the same class will be required to takea transfer certificate.

10. The report card will not be issued to pupils who have dues.

Rules for the payment of monthly fees and other collections

1. The Tuition Fee for June 2019 along with Annual Fees must be paidin full before 31-5-2019.

2. Monthly tuition fees is payable by the 12th of every month.

3. The tuition fees and other fees of each month must be paid at theschool office counter during the allotted time before the 12th of themonth. A fine of Rs. 10/- shall be levied for each month due.

4. Fees for April and May must be paid before the final examination.

5. The defaulter's name will be struck off the rolls after 30 days for non-payment of fees. To get re-admitted, parents will have to pay are-admission fee together with the arrears.

6. The Fee Card must be brought for every payment of fees.

7. Annual fees and monthly fees paid will not be refunded.

8. Parents need not pay any other fees other than the publicexamination fees prescribed by the management and publicexamination authority.

9. Claims for return of the amount remitted will not be entertained onany account.

10. The refundable deposit should be paid in full at the time ofadmission.

11. This deposit is refundable only at the time of withdrawal of the child.

12. The deposit will be refunded to the parent on a written applicationfrom the parent along with the attached receipt, within three monthsof the withdrawal of the child. No application will be entertained afterthe due date.

13. Please note that, no application for refund of deposit will beentertained without the receipt.

14. Report cards will not be issued to the pupils who have not paid feesin full.

15. Parents and Students are requested to obtain receipts for allpayments made in the school office.

Application for grant of Transfer Certificate must be addressedto the Principal giving the following details:

1. Name of the pupil and the present address in full.2. Year, class and section he/she was studying at the time of his/her

leaving the school and date of leaving.3. Has he/she returned all the books borrowed from the library and

paid all the dues, if any, to the school.

4. His/her Second Language mentioning the name of the school whichthe pupil proposes to join.

5. Reasons for leaving, mentioning the name of the school which thepupil proposes to join.

6. Signature in full of the Parent / Guardian.

7. Request for Transfer Certificate must be made well in advance before30th April 2020. The Transfer Certificate and marks card will beissued only when the school dues have been cleared, in full.

8. If a student leaves during the term, he/she will be liable to pay theterm's fees.

9. Any student seeking Transfer Certificate after re-opening of theschool will have to pay a term fees of that year. Please ensure thatyour 'application' is given before the due date i.e., 30th April 2020.This will enable the school to admit new admission in place of yourchild.

Library1. Strict silence is to be maintained in the Library at all times.

2. Strict discipline to be maintained in the Computer Lab.

3. Students are permitted to take only a notebook and a pencil intothe Library. Ink pens and school bags are not allowed.

4. A fine of Re 1/- per day will be charged for overdue books.

5. If library books are lost or damaged the concerned students will bearthe cost.

Lost Property1. Any money or valuables found in the school compound, should be

handed over to the school office without delay.

2. All personal property should be marked with the owner's name.

3. The lost property office will be open during the morning short breakand towards the end of the lunch break. A prefect on duty will assistthe recovery of the lost property.

4. A fine of Rs. 10/- is chargeable when lost property is claimed.

Donations and Class CollectionsParents should not feel obliged to send contributions or money unlessthey are requested to do so by the Principal, by a circular letter.

GUIDELINES FORPARENTS / GUARDIANS

1. Students must live with their parents or local guardians who will beresponsible for the students conduct, supervision of studies at homeand payments.

2. Parents are expected to co-operate with the school so that everystudent may derive maximum benefit from the educational process.Cooperation in certain specific areas, listed below, is the minimumexpected.

(i) Please read the rules listed in the diary and ensure that yourchild conforms to these rules.

(ii) Check the Diary daily and look into the:a) Homework doneb) Absence and late coming recordc) Punishments recordd) Notices and circulars

3. A Report Card showing the progress of the student will be sent tothe parents as noted in the School Calendar. Poor performance ifany, should be noted and steps for improvement taken withoutdelay. Report card, when received, should be signed by the parentsand returned to the respective Class Patron within two days.Tampering with the entries in the report card is a very serious offenseand liable to stringent punishment.

4. Parents must not speak to teachers or students during class hours.Parents who seek information or wish to make a complaint, shouldcontact the Principal. Interviews with teachers may be arranged bythe Principal, if necessary on receipt of a request in writing from theparents.

5. Parents are welcome to meet the principal, without priorappointment, from Monday to Friday between 2.00 p.m. and3.00 p.m. or with prior appointment on any school working day.
