Never allow your job to define who you are. We all exist beyond the 9 to 5.
We may all feel we are “not good enough” when we are outsized, downsized, othersized, and told there's the door.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, see that door as a stepping stone to a new opportunity.
“We are always in the Process of Becoming” Abraham MaslowFinding a new job is a process, and one has to prepare for new unforeseen opportunities.
Positive In – Positive Out

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
The Biggest thing I have seen in the Baby Boomer Generation is being a late majority or non adopter of Social Media and creating an effective online presence. • LinkedIn• Twitter • Google• Facebook• MySpace
• 6. Shaky online presence. Thirty-seven percent of hiring managers check candidates’ social media sites these days, and the number is only growing. If you lack a solid online presence, this could show you don’t pay attention to detail, aren’t truly engaged in your industry, or at the very least, don’t care about how others perceive you. Make sure you’ve got some sort of presence online, and that it’s a positive one. Start a professional Twitter account or blog, and look into the specifics of how to brand yourself. The last thing you want is for your Google search results to stop your job search short.

LinkedIn now counts more than 300M members, up from 277M at the end of 2013
LinkedIn /ˌlɪŋkt.ˈɪn/ is a business-oriented social networking service. It was founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking. In 2006, LinkedIn increased to 20 million members. Wikipedia
User profile networkThe basic functionality of LinkedIn allows users (workers and employers) to create profiles and "connections" to each other in an online social network which may represent real-world professional relationships. Users can invite anyone (whether a site user or not) to become a connection. However, if the invitee selects "I don't know" or "Spam", this counts against the inviter. If the inviter gets too many of such responses, the account may be restricted or closed.[60]
This list of connections can then be used in a number of ways:
• Obtaining introductions to the connections of connections (termed second-degree connections) and connections of second-degree connections (termed third-degree connections)
• Users can find jobs, people and business opportunities recommended by someone in one's contact network.• Employers can list jobs and search for potential candidates.• Job seekers can review the profile of hiring managers and discover which of their existing contacts can introduce them.• Users can post their own photos and view photos of others to aid in identification.• Users can follow different companies and can receive notifications about the new joining[clarification needed] and offers
available.• Users can save (i.e. bookmark) jobs that they would like to apply for.• Users can "like" and "congratulate" each other's updates and new employments.• Users can see who has visited their profile page.

I am the best candidate for this jobThe Job Interview Itself
5 Secrets of Likable Job CandidatesHeather Huhman | October 22, 2014
• 1. They research the interviewer and company before the interview.
• 2. They’re friendly to the receptionist.• 3. They’re aware of their surroundings.• 4. They’re approachable.• 5. They’re helpful.
You may not have all the qualities a company is looking for but imagination is one of those intangible things that will come out in your body language and thoughts. .
4 Signs You’re NOT Acing the Interview – And How to Fix It
Heather Huhman | August 17, 2015
1. You’re only getting easy questions. It may seem like a dream come true, but when an interviewer pitches you only the easy questions, odds are you’re not seriously being considered for the position.
What to do about it: Be assertive. Tell your interviewer you have a question and say something like: “In my last position, I was often required to do XYZ. I’ve noticed this position requires similar experience. How does XYZ play into the daily responsibilities of the role?”
2. The interviewer doesn’t ask about your availability to start. What to do about it: Turn the tables on the interviewer. Instead of waiting until you’re asked about your availability, mention how interested you are in the position and how you excited you would be to get started right away (or in five days, a week, at the end of the month, etc.). You never know, your confidence and interest may change the interviewer’s opinion of you.
3. The interviewer doesn’t discuss the rest of the hiring process. If you hear, “Thanks for your time, good luck with the rest of your job search,” you’re probably not on the short list.
What to do about it: Be confident and proactive (do you see a pattern?). Take a moment as the interview is wrapping up to summarize why you’re a great fit for the position. Then, ask the interviewer what the next steps in the hiring process are and when you can expect to hear from them.
4. Your interview is shorter than scheduled. Your interview is scheduled for 30 minutes, but between the interviewer’s questions and yours, you’re out of there in 15. That’s a good thing right? Not really.
What to do about it: Create your own back and forth. Make sure you have a list of questions before the interview that you can refer to if you think you’re not getting the consideration you deserve. Then, find ways to ask your questions as follow-ups to engage the interviewer and help yourself stand out.
