the Secret Place. NINTH LESSON. How to seek it? W here to find it? How to abide in it? These are the questions that today more than at any other time in the history of the world arc engaging the hearts of men. More than anything else it is what I want. It is what you want. And all these steps we are taking by speaking the words of truth and striving to manifest the light we have already received, are carrying us on swiftly to the time when we shall have consciously the perfect Mind of Christ, with all the love, and beauty, and health and power that that implies. We need not get anxious or in a hurry for the full manifestation. Let us not at anytime lose sight of the fact that our desire—great as it is—is only God's desire in us. "N o man cometh unto me except the Father draw him." ,The Fattier in us de- sires to reveal the secret of His Presence to us, else we had not known any hunger for the secret, or for truth. h„aVK T? *»ut I have chosen you and ordained you that ye should go and bring forth fruit. 3 Whoever you are that read these words, wherever you stand in the world, be it on the platform preaching the gospel, or in the humblest little home seeking the truth that you may make it manifest in a sweeter, stronger, less selfish life, know once and forever it is not you seeking God but it is God seek- ing you. That which you feel and desire for greater manifestation is the Eternal Energy, which holds the worlds in their orbits, outpushing through you to get into fuller manifestation. You need not worry. You need not be anxious. You need not strive. Only let It. Learn how to let It. After all our beating about the bush, seeking here and there for our heart’s desire we must come right to Him who Himself is the fulfillment of every desire; who waits to manifest more of Him- self to us and through us. My enduement of power must como from “ on high,” from a higher region within myself than my present conscious mind. ' So must yours. Whoever you are that read these words, wherever you stand in the world, be it on the platform preaching the gospel, or in the hum blest little home seeking the tru th that you may make it m anifest in a sweeter, stronger, less selfish life, know once and forever i t is not you seeking God but it is God seeking you. And in some way, after all our seeking foivthe ligh t and tru th , we m ust learn how to w a it, each m att fo r h im self, upon God for th is inner revelation of tru th and of our Oneness w ith Him.

The light we want is not some th ing God has to give. I t is God h i m s e l f . God does not give us life or love as a thing. God is Life and L ig h t and Love. More of H im self in our consciousness, then, is what we all want,—no m atter what o ther name wo may give it.

I t must be a descent of the Holy (whole, entire, complete) S pirit at the centre of your being into your conscious m ind. The illum ination we want can never como in any other way. Nor can the power to make good manifest.

We hear a good deal about “ sitting in the silence.” To many it does not mean very much, for they have not yet learned how to “ wait upon God,” or to hear any voice except external ones. Noise belongs to the outside world, not to God. God works in the stillness: and we can so wait upon the F a th er of our being as to be conscious of the still, inner working; conscious of the fulfillment of our desires.“ They th a t seek the Lord shall not waut any good.”“ They th a t wait upon the L ord shall renew their strength .”

In one of Edward Everett Hale’s stories he speaks of a little girl who, a itid st her play with the butterflies and birds iu a country place, used to ru n into a little chapel near, frequently, to pray. to say anything to her.”—So children are always nearest the kingdom.

W hen beginning the practice of sitting in the silence do not feel that you m ust go and sit with some other person. The presence of another personality is apt to distract the mind. L earn first how to im m u n e alone with the Creator of the un iverse—who is all companionship. And when you are able to withdraw from the outside and bo alone with Him, then sitting with others may be profitable to yon and to them.

There are those who are quite able to still theirminds from all outside thoughts, but who, as soon as they get still, find themselves floating out on the astral or psychical plane where spirits of those departed, appear to them, w anting recognition and communication. R ight here is a tremendous tem ptation. The experience is a new one and is more or less fascinating, bu t if you want the highest that is for you, this should not be for a moment yielded to If, when you begin to get still you find this taking place, ge t up resolutely and shake it off. Declare it is not what you want; you want the highest spiritual illum ination and will not' take any other or be intruded upon, etc. I f necessary, m order to free yourself postpone your sitting until another tim e when perhaps you will have no trouble.

The Psychical is all good upon its own plane. Dut it is not that which you are seeking. You want your own S pirit brought forth, in all its glorious fulness and God-likeness, into manifestation. And R you stop on a lower plane to dabble with things there, it will only retard the day of your own realization and manifestation. P u t it down a t once and it will soon cease to trouble you.

orthodox.” lo u are not going to supplicate a C-od who has already given you “ all things whatsoever ye desire.” You have already learned that befoie you call He has sent th a t which you desire- otherwise you would not desire it.

You know better than to plead or beseech God with an unbelieving prayer. B ut spending the first few moments of your silence to the outside world in speaking directly to the Father, centres your w ind on the E ternal. Many who earnestly try to get still and wait upon God have found that the moment they sit down rn d close their eyes, the bough ts, instead of being concentrated, are filled

w ith every so rt of vain im agination . T he m ost triv ia l th ings, from the fix ing of a shoe s tr in g to th e gossipy conversation of a week ago, w ill chase each o ther in rap id succession th ro u g h th e m ind, and a t the end of an hou r they have g ained no th ing .I his is to them discouraging.

This is bu t a natural result of try ing not to think at all. N ature abhors a vacuum, and if you make

/ (or try to) your mind a vacuum, the thought images of others which fill the atm osphere about you will rush m to fill it, leaving you as far away from the consciousness of Divine Presence as ever. You can prevent this by beginning your silence with prayer.(t 1S al,TayS easier for the m ind to say realizingly

ih y will is being done in me now ” after having prayed “ L e t Thy will be done in me.” It, is always easier to say, w ith realization, “ G od' flows through me as life and peace and pow er” ' after having prayed “ Let tliy life flow though me anew while I wait ” Of course it does not change , G od s attitude towards us; bu t it is easier for the

uman m ind to take several successive steps with firmness and assurance than for it to take one big, ’.oldJeap to a point of eminence, and hold itself

steady there. ,Y bile you are thus concentrating your thoughts

upon God, in definite conversation w ith the A uthor or your being, no outside thought images can possibly rush m to torm ent or d istract you. Your mind instead of being open and negative towards the external, is closed to it, and open only to God the oource of all the good you desire.

Of course there is to be no set form of words used, but. sometimes using words like for instance the’ first few verses of the 103rd Psalm , in the beginning ot the silent communion, m aking it a m atter of face to face sp e a k in g .- “ Thou forgivest all mine iniquities (or mistakes); thou healest all my diseases; thou redeem eth my life from destruction and crowneth me with loving kindness. Now, now while I wait upon thee.” Sometimes entering into the innermost w ith the words of a fam iliar hymn as J >.

Thou a rt the L ife w ithin me 0 C h ris t thou K ing of kings;

Thou a rt thyself the answer To all my questionings.”

R epeat the words over m any times, not anxiously nor with strained effort,—not reaching out and up and way off to an outside God, but let it be the quiet, earnest up lifting of the heart to a h i-h e r som ething righ t within itself, even to the “ F a th e r

itnow th a t God is rig h t here within them , and when sitting they fall into the way, of reaching away out and up after Him. Such are earnest souls tru ly feeling after God if haply they m ay had Him, when alh the time He is near them even in their very hearts. Do not reach out thus. This is as though a seed wore p lanted in the e a rth ; and just because it recognized a vivifying., life-giving principle in the sun’s rays it began to strain and stretch itself upward and outward to ge t more of the sun. You

■can see at a glance th a t by so doing it would get no -solid root whatever in the earth where God intended it to be! All the plant needs to do is to keep its face turned toward the sun and let its e lf be drawn ■upward by the sun.

Home of us in our desire to grow, and having recognized the necessity of waiting upon God in the stillness for the vivifying and renewal of life, makes the m istake of climbing up and away from our body—which is the earth where God has p lan ted us for a time. Such abnormal outreaching and upreaching is neither wise nor profitable. A fter a little of it one begins to ge t cold feet and congested head. W hile the soul is thus reaching out. the body is le ft alone, and it becomes correspondingly weak and negative. This is all wrong. Infinite Wisdom has planted us rig h t in (or with) this earth, the body. He saw th a t our progress towards conscious perfection would at this state of our growth be better promoted by an experience through an earthly body than any other way. We are not to reach o u t away from the body even after the Sun of Righteousness. We are rather to lie still in the earth—where He sees th a t we can get a better root for our flowering and fru iting than we could anywhere else—and let the Su n shine on iis right where we are. Why the sun draw s the seed up as fast as it can bear it and ho strong. We have not got to grow ourselves; only to let the Sun grow us.

B ut we are to consciously let It. Not merely taking the a ttitude of negatively le tting it by not opposing it, but pu t ourselves consciously where the Suu can shine upon us, and then “ be still and know ” that while we wait there I t is doing the work. W hile waiting upon God wo should as much as possible relax ourselves both m entally and physically. To use a very homely but a very practical illustration take very much such au attitude of the entiro being as do the fowls when taking a sun bath in the sand. 'And yet there is som ething more than a dead p assiv ity to be maintained through it all. There m ust bo a sort of conscious active taking of that which God gives freely to the waiting sou l.*

Let me see if I can make it plain. We first w ithdraw ourselves bodily and m entally from the outside world. We “ enter into thy closet and shut the door, ’ the closet of our being, the very innermost of

8ourselves, by tu rn ing our thoughts within. I f you cannot overcome the mental habit of reaching out away from yourself to find God, try to imagine a person, even Jesu s Christ, living within your body, and tu ru within to make known your desires to him.

Ju st say, “ Thou abidest within me. Thou art alive there now. Thou hast all power. Thou a rt now the answer to all I desire. Thou dost now ' radiate thyself from the centre of my being to the circumference, and out into the visible world as the * fulness of my desire.” Then be still, absolutely still. Relax every p a rt of your being and believe that, it is being done. W hether you feel anything or not it is being clone. The Divine Substance does fiow iu a t the centre and out into the visible world every moment you wait, for it is an immutable law th a t “ he th a t asketh receiveth.” And it will come forth as the “ fulfillment of your d esire” if you expect I t to. “ According to your faith be it unto ‘ you.”

I f you find your m ind wandering bring it righ t ' back by saying again “ I t is being done. Thou a rt

working in me. I am receiving th a t which hdesire, etc. ’ Do not look for signs and wonders, but just be still and know th a t the very th ing you waut is flowing in and will come forth into manifestation either at once or a little further on.

Go even beyond th is and speak words of thanksgiving to this innerm ost Presence th a t I t lias heard and answered, th a t I t does now come forth into visibility. There is som ething about the mental act of thanksgiving th a t seems to carry the human mind far beyond the region of doubt into the clear atmosphere of faith and tru st where “ All things are possible.” Even if at first you are not conscious of having received anything from God do not worry ... or cease from your thanksgiving. Do not go back ' of it again to the asking, bu t continue giving thanks th a t while you waited you did receive and that, it is now manifest. And, believe me, you will soon rejoice and give thanks not rigidly from sense of duty bu t because of the sure, m anifest fulfillment of your desire.

Do not let waiting in silence become a bondage to you. I f you find yourself getting into a strained ‘ attitude of mind, or “ heady,” get up and go about some external work for a time. Or if you find your mind will wander, do not insist; for the moment you get into a rigid mental attitude you shut off all inflow of the Divine into your consciousness. There m ust be a sort of relaxed passivity, and yet an active taking by faith ,—shall I call it an active * passivi y?

Of course as we go on in spiritual understanding and desire, we very soon come to the place where we want, more than anything else, th a t the desires

Page 4: No. K the Secret Place. - Amazon S3...Spirit at the centre of your being into your con scious mind. The illumination we want can never como in any other way. Nor can the power to make

4 U N IT Y ." of Infinite Wisdom and Love be fulfilled in us. '■‘My thoughts are not as your thoughts, neither caro your ways my ways saith the Lord. F o r as the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways h igher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Our desires are God’s desires bu t in a lim ited ' degree. And we soon throw aside our limitations, •our circumscribed desires (as soon at least as we ^ e that more of God means more of good and joy and happiness) and with all our souls cry out, in th is silent sitting, “ Fulfill T hy highest thought in me now.” We make ourselves as clay in the potte r’s hands, willing to bo moulded anew, to be “ changed into the same image,” to be made after the mind of the indwelling Christ.

W o repeat from time to time while waiting, words som ething like these “ Thou a rt now renewing me

•according to Thy highest thought for me. Thou a rt rad iating thy very Self throughout my entire being m aking me like unto Thyself, for there is nothing else bu t Thee. F a th e r I thank thee, I thank thee.” Be still, be still while He^ works “ Not by m ight nor by power, bu t by my Spirit, saith the Lord.”

W hile you thus wait and let Him He will work marvelous changes in you. You will come out from such sitting with a strange new consciousness of serenity and quiet,—a feeling that som ething has

. been done; th a t some new power to overcome has come unto you. You will be able to say “ I and.the F a th er are o n e” with a new meaning, a new sense of reality and awe th a t will make j'ou feel very still. O how one conscious touch of the Over Soul makes all life seem different. All the hard things become easy; the troublesome things no longer have power to worry; the rasping people and things of the world lose all their aforetime power to annoy. W hy? Because for the tim e we see th ings from the Christ side of ourselves. We see as He sees. W e do not have to deny evil; we knoiv, in that moment, th a t it is nothing at all. W® no longer rigidly affirm the good from sense of duty bu t with delight and spontaneity, because wo cannot help it. I t is revealed to us as good. F a ith has become reality. .

Do not be discouraged if you do not a t once get conscious results in this silent sitting. Every moment th a t you wait the S pirit is working to make you a new creaturo in C hrist,—a creature possessing consciously His very own qualities and powers. There may bo a working for days before you see any change, but it will surely come. And you will soon ge t so you can go into the silence, into conscious communion with your Lord at a moment’s notice a t any time, in any place.

There is no conflict or inconsistency between this

waiting upon God to be m ade perfect, and th e way of “ speaking the w ord” out toward the external to make perfection visible. W aiting upon and consciously receiving from the Source only makes the out-speaking—the holding of rig h t thoughts and words—easy instead of laborious. Try it and see.

Clear revelation—the word made alive as tru th , to our consciousness—m ust come to every soul who continues to wait upon God. B ut remember there are two conditions imposed. You are to w a i t upon G o d :—not simply to run in and out bu t to abide, to dwell in the secret place of the Most High.

Of course I do not mean th a t you are to give all the time to sitting alone in meditation and silence. B ut that your mind shall bo continually in an attitude of w ait'ng upon G od; an attitude not of clamoring for things but of listening for the F a th er’s voice and oxpecting a m anifestation of the F ather to your consciousness.

Jesus, our M aster in sp iritual knowledge and power, had many hours of lone communion with his F ather; and his greatest works wore done after these. So may we, so mtist wo commune alone with the F a th e r if we would manifest the Christ. B ut Jesus d id not spend all his time, in receiving. Ho poured forth into every day use, among the children of men in the ordinary avocations of life, th a t which he received of his Father. H is knowledge of spiritual things was used constantly to up lift and help o ther people. We m ust do likewise; for newness of life and revelation flows in the faster as we give out th a t which we have, to help others. “ Go teach and preach- and h e a l” ho said. Go m anifest the Christ within you which ye have re ceived of tho F a th e r. God works in us to will and to do, but we. m ust work out our salvation.

Tho second indispensablo condition of finding the secret place and abiding in it is, “ my expectation is from Him.” « My soul wait thou only upon God; fo r my expectation is from Him.” “ Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from tho hills and from the m ultitude of m ountains; tru ly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel.” “ I t is good that a man both hope tfnd quietly w ait for the salvation of the Lord.”

Is your expectation from Him? Or is it from books, or teachers, or friends or m eetings or societies?

“ Thc K ing of Israel, even the Lord, i s ' in the m idst of th ee” Think of itl In t h e m i d s t o f t h e e ;

at the centre of thy being th is moment while you read these words. Say it, say it, think it, dwell upon it, whoever you are, wherever you are. In the midst of theel Then what need for all this running around? W hat need for all th is strained outreaching after Him.

“ God the L ord in the m idst of thee is m ighty.”

Not God in the m idst of another, but in the midst of thee,” thyself, standing righ t where you are. “ He will save; He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in his love; He will joy over thee with singing.” You are H is love. I t is you He will rejoice in with singing if you will tu rn away from people to Him within you. And H is singing and joy will so fill you th a t your life will be a great thanksgiving.

1 our Lord is not my Lord, nor my Lord your Lord. Your L ord is the Christ within your own being. My Lord is the Christ within my soul.

One Spirit, One F a th er of all in us all, but different, manifestations or individualities. Your Lord is he th a t shall deliver you out of all your troubles. Your Lord has no other buisness bu t to manifest himself to you and through you, and so make you m ighty with his own m ightiness made visible; whole with his health ; perfect by showing forth the Christ perfection.

Let all your expectation be from your Lord. L et your communion be w ith him. W ait upon this inner abiding Christ often, ju st as you would wait up-' on any visible teacher. When you are sick “ wait thou only upon G od” as the Most H igh ra th er than upon healers. When you lack wisdom in small or largo matters “ wait thou upon God,” and see what m arvelous wisdom for action will be given you. W hen desiring to speak the word which shall deliver another from the bondage of sickness or sin or sorrow “ wait thou upon G od ;” and ju st exactly the righ t word will be given you, and power will go with it for it will be alive with Spirit.

S tanding in the place of soul, intellect or conscious mind, we thus look to Spirit. S p irit flows in and illumines intellect making it see its oneness with Spirit: and then w e—conscious mind—stand at the centre, and, looking from within outwards say “ I and the F a th er are one.”

A Good Letter.Your letter is ju st received and I feel like answer

ing a t once. Surely you cannot th ink so little of me as to believe I would stop treating you because you will not bo able to send mo what you expected.

I f you tru ly desire to do som ething in re turn for your treatm ent, you can do me the greatest service by holding me everyday in absolute freedom , this is what wo are all try ing to dem onstrate for ourselves and others.

I will gladly trea t you until you realize perfect health and can stand without assistance from any individuality.

I am glad to hear you are improving—if you are faithful you will certainly reap the harvest. Hold the thought, “ God’s life flows freely through every

organ of my body, the life of my body is the life of God.” Keep your organs vitalized by such thoughts all of the time and the relaxed condition of which you complain will all pass away.

My dear, your friend was rig h t in telling you th a t you were just where you belonged and £ say you can redeem th a t man, and when you no longer need him he will be taken out of your life.

He is your schoolmaster and you must learn your lessons perfectly, hard though they seem.

Remember God will not suffer you to be tem pted above th a t you are able to bear—the all-wise S pirit knows ju st the degree of heat th a t the delicate metal needs to purify it.

You can deafen your ears to the blasphemy and coarseness so th a t it will no longer cause you pain. “ He will deliver you from the scourge of the tongue ” means ju st what it says.

W hen your husband is angry nnd curses, say to yourself, “ the w rath of man shall praise the.Lord, this is not evil bu t good, I will not hear any evil in it.”

You can soon change his disposition and take away his desire to be ugly by holding th e rig h t thought toward him.

Tell him in the silence th a t the “ I am ” of him is always harmonious and perfect, and rest knowing th a t he is sure to m anifest this. Say these th ings to his sp irit when he is in a quiet, negative state of m ind because he is then more receptive—don’t try to trea t him when ho is angry but trea t yourself.

Tell him he is full of love, th a t he is the fulness of tru th , say such words to him m any times a day; drive away all thoughts of evil concerning him th a t rise up in your own mentality.

Now as to the failure of your crops, etc., the remedy lies in your power, dear friend. Do not say “ tho Lord is my abundant supply » sometimes, but say it all of the time.

Say it until you realize the fulness of it, “ Thp earth is the Lord’s and tho fulness thereof,” and you shall receive your portion as the heir of God.W hen you plan t do it in faith -believing, knowing of a tru th th a t the L ord Will m ultiply it and bring it forth a hundred fold. Do you know that if you have faith enough you can bring the necessary rain for your crops to m ature properly? Know that you have the power of the Almighty God to control the elements—wo are to have dominion over all things.

Bless your seed and bless the ground that receives it, and you can hold it in such love th a t insects will not destroy it, nor drouth kill. fo r ;” say over and over when clonbt creeps in “ I have the fulness of all that there is.”

I Know how hard it is to stand alone as you express it, but you never can be alone, dear. Try these words they are so helpful “ God works th rough me to do that which ought to be done bv

. rne.”Don t struggle and light to overcome, over-com

ing is simply coming over from that which is nothing to th a t which is true.

I t is all done for us, and all we have to do is to realize this.

J ho way to realize is to centralize your thoughtscompel yourself to th ink true thoughts, make

your m ind a vessel pure and holy for God to t i l l - only a strong determ ination can do this. You must not dissipate your forces by thinking all sorts of things, you can’t afford to have your mind a jumble of tru th and error, better repeat the multiplication table than allow your mind to wander unchecked.

I m ight say much more bu t if you try to follow this out you will find enough to occupy yourself for sometime. Yours in sisterly love,

Moses, the T rue Thought, knows th a t these people can and must take the highest stand if they are to come into God, and he will not yield one iota to their demands b u t ra ther (Ex. 32:27) slays every thought which wilfully persists in its way and does not consecrate itself wholly to the one God (v. 29) And for all those who have been allowed in their ignorance, through such false reasoning to depart from the Way and have come into the fru it of such unfaith (v. 35), Moses the true T hought continually speaks the W ord that brings them finally into the at-one-ment w ith their God, perfect H ealth and wholeness.

Golden T ex t:—Do not drink wine nor strong ■dyink, thou, nor thy sons w ith thee.—Lev. 10:9.

The children of Israel had been following Moses very closely in all his directions for erecting the tabernacle of the Lord after the pattern which he had seen in the mount. This is how our spiritual thoughts are guided by the H igher Law in p rep aring “ the temple of the living God,” a pure, healthy, strong, spiritual body, in which God may be glorified and through which our Lord may work to bring forth His good works.

In the chapter previous to th is lesson, we read of how Aaron and his sons had sanctified themselves and made offerings for the people, acceptable to their Lord until finally the glory of the Lord filled the whole tabernacle and a magical tire sprang forth from th is glory and consumed the sacrifice laid on the altar “ which when all the people saw, they-shouted and fell on their faces” (Lev. 9:24). I t was the fire they had long been looking for and at last it had come, to be a perpetual holy flame, that should continually cleanse and heal the people of their sins and sicknesses and increase in their consciousness until “ all the earth should be tilled with the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Is. 11:9.

Thus does the faithful student of T ruth follow the divine directions within himself, to sanctify his thoughts and bring all his best efforts and gifts to be sacrificed to or identified with his God, the Most H igh Good. And he burns w ithout the camp (Lev. 9:11) all his false thoughts, doubts and sins and beliefs in sickness. All this he does obediently from day to day until a t last the glory of the Lord fills his whole being and he knows the fire of the L ord has been kindled in bis heart forever, the consuming fire of the living God, which will transm ute all the base metal of the lower man into the fine gold of the h igher life.

This fire of God is Divine Love. Now when th is holy love-fire is kindled in the heart, then follows an experience in the life of the devotee which is here told in the story of Nadab and Abihu. •

These were the oldest sons of Aaron. They are two thoughts anointed by our Good to carry out the spiritual will in all our earth affairs. Their names mean “ liberal ” and “ he (God) is my father” and they are our free thought and our claim-to- divine-authority. I f these seem to tu rn from the direct guidance of the Lord within, then th a t comes to pass which was done in the case of ,N adab and Abihu.

The instruction which the L ord gives Aaron concerning those who approach the Almighty (v. 9. The Palestinian Chaldee adds to th is “ as thy sons did who died by the burning fire.”—Ginsburg) shows what state of mind these priests were in when they so disobeyed the divine injunctions. The precautions that were given the people of Israel and their priests had the same protecting object in view, as those which a man would give today to one who has to do with electricity and dynamos, these being symbols of this Mighty Presence, which consumes all im purity th a t enters into its presence. ..

We are continually told what to do by the Voice within us, so th a t we may see God and not die. F irs t “ do not drink wine nor strong drink.” M aterial drink has no real attraction to the disciple in whose heart the love-fire has been lit, neither does he care for o ther fleshly, gratification. B ut he needs to be warned against m ental and physical intoxicants. H e m ust now pu t all desires upon th a t plane under his feet.

W hat kind of thoughts are the wine and strong drink that are to be avoided? They are thoughts th a t lead us away from the Absolute Center of our being. They are whatever takes away your judgment as to what is right and w hat is wrong. Their fru its are confusion and uncertainty and by these first- fru its you can know them. B ut we have even a better way to know these intoxicating thoughts. Consider how we know what m aterial liquors will intoxicate us? By our senses. Then realize that

}ou have a spiritual guiding sense within you more acute of discernment than any outward eyes, or taste or smell, and it can scent a false thought instantly. Jiut if you think you (or some loved one) are in danger of being drugged without knowing it, then remember th a t you have an almighty God and though you should drink the rankest and deadliest drug-thought, then according to the promise, it shall by no means hurt you.

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means h u rt you Luke 10:19. J

‘‘T hat ye may pu t difference between holy and unholy and between clean and unclean.” Divine judgm ent in us never mixes good and evil, saying evil us undeveloped good. I t never says spirit is m atter o r m atter is spirit. But it draws a clean clear line between the two, pu tting the one on the righ t hand and the other on the left.

W hat is real good, has always been good, always will be good. And what is evil is evil. W hat is Spirit, ever has been S pirit and ever more will be Spirit, the unchangeably same yesterday, today and forever and m atter is m atter. T ru th shows us th a t Good and S pirit are the Reality of being, and evil and m atter are the nothing. These are not to be confused or confounded in the mind. “ E ither make the tree good and his fru it good, or else make the tree corrupt and his fru it corrupt.” M att. 12:33

The strange fire that N adab and Abihu took in their censers was a love strange or foreign to God I his strange love may be lust for money, as in the case of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5); it may bo what m ight bo called spiritual ambition for place and power or pride of sp iritual understanding; it may be personal self-love even to calling the material self God; it may be sex-love. I t is what Paul calls spir- itilci 1 wickedness in high places.

The commonest form of th is error is sex-love such love being altogether foreign to the pure impersonal Love that is God. Divine Love has no

lought of sex in it. I t does not seek a mate and knows no m arriage bu t to the Most H igh God W hen the great Love of God has been awakened in the heart bu t the m ortal seems yet to have some ouging for personal loves, th is adulterous thinking

causes “ Aaron’s sons” w ithin us to grow confused and to think th a t psychical or mental experiences aro spiritual and th a t a certain love for some p articular person is the Love of God.

B ut the L ord God, the Law of the Good, watches over Israel, over that true disciple and these thoughts are sm itten and carried, by the other thoughts, without the camp. Then all Israel mourns and thinks th a t free-thought is dead when i t is only “ free-love” and th a t the claim-to-divine-

authority is gone when it is only sumption.”

But Aaron holds his peace and also his remaining sons, the spiritual ideas th a t are still to carry out the divine will. Because they know the meaning of it all, and that the reality of these thoughts still lives and they shall be redeem ed and raised up in the Day of the Lord, in the L igh t of T ru th when they shall be known to all in their true meaning, even as God knows them.

The second page should have an explanation of the object of the Home, how it is carried on, and instructions and suggestions to those who receive the book, after this manner :

Explanation. This Home is established in the

name of Jesus Christ.I t is a homo of rest for all who

seek H is holy presence. Here they shall drop out of m ind

all remembrance of sin, sorrow, sickness and death.

They shall be shown the way of righteousness until they are every whit whole in soul and body.

“ L e t him th a t is ath irst come; and whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”

Invitation. This H ome is m aintained by the

free-will offerings of its patrons, and all those who love the Good. You are invited to co-operate in the work.

L et your offering be accompanied by your w ritten blessings to the end th a t the Good may be glorified in the world.

Instructions.W rite on one side of paper only, as

your communication will be pasted in the Home’s Bo3k of Divine Blessings, which will be open to public inspection.

C ut one of the leaves from this little book, fill it out w ith your nam e and address and pin it to the shoot on which your blessing is w ritten, and send with offerings to the Home.

Then send the book to some other friend of the cause with the request th a t they do likewise.

The person using the last leaf is requested to return the book to the Home.

If for auy reason you do not wish to make an offering nor give your blessings, please re tu rn this book to the one from whom you received it.

N o t e .—This Homo can use fu rn iture, bedding, clothing, or any supplies you may desire to contribute.

Then follow this with about a dozen

leaves having blanks like this oneach:

Cut out here and pin the leaf to the sheet on which you write your blessings.

The secretary of the Home will keep a record of every book given out. and if all the leaves are not returned w ith offerings in a reasonable time, she will write to the one to whom it is issued and ask the reason of delay. These little books may be made by hand, or, if required in quantities, m anufactured at any p rin ting office.

Wo could get them up exactly like the foregoing for about 50c per dozen. To do this we should have to p rin t it least 1000 copies, hence any chang s in name, wording, or anything else, would be extra. A rubber stamp with location of home and names of officers and and references could be had for 50c. to S1.00.

I was very glad to see your article on “ Spiritual Reciprocity.” I f any principle is knowingly violated how can there be harmony. These people who want everything for nothing.—teaching, heal- uig and literature, violate the principles of justice righteousness and courtesy. The} are not fit vessels to receive the T ru th . They are only wanting m aterial gains. Many people are better off, spiritually, without physical health, if it is merely animal health th a t they want. Freedom is only promised to them who know the T ruth and the people who do not want the T ruth , do not deserve freedom.

D id He not rather say: ‘Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s?’ I t is only they who are willing to do justly who love mercy or can walk humbly before God. I agreed heartily with every word in your article.—F . M. H . >
