As the end of 2017 fast approaches, we want to thank everyone for their very generous donations made this year.

The Lord’s Acre giving totaled some $85,000 and, coupled with funds received from several other sources, $134,965

has been applied to reducing principle on the New Building mortgage. We are closing in on our Operations Budget

of $1,975,000 by collecting $1,785,243 (as of 12/10/2017) with three Sundays remaining in December.

Dear MUMC Church Family,

We just wanted to thank you for all of the prayers, cards, calls, and meals provided to us during the recent illness of

our husband and father Ken Upshaw. We are so thankful to be a part of such a wonderful church family. Thank

you for helping make such a difficult time a little easier.

LET’S GO SERVE CHRIST & OUR NEIGHBORS IN THE MISSISSIPPI DELTA!

WHAT?: 1st of 4 MUMC Workdays with Delta Grace for 2018. We will have the

opportunity to work with our hands to do home repairs, build relationships with the

homeowners, and share the love of Christ. There are opportunities also for those who

want to prepare food for the workers but who may not go to Delta Grace with the

team.

WHEN?: Saturday, January 20. If preferred, you can make arrangements to spend the night on Friday (please con-

tact Carolyn Schussler for questions – see contact info below); church vans will be available for those riding up early

Saturday morning if you want to ride with other church members.

COST?: $45 per adult (17 years old & up), no cost for 7-16 year olds who are accompanied by a parent or grand-

parent; if cost is prohibitive, please contact Carolyn Schussler (see contact info below). We welcome financial spon-

sorship by any person (or class) who wants to support this mission but cannot go serve or anyone who would like to

sponsor someone in addition to her/himself.

HOW DO I REGISTER?: Go to www.madisonumc.org/deltagrace, or contact Carolyn Schussler

([email protected], or 904-403-5748).

Madison UMC is hosting "Disaster Response Training: Early Response Team" on January 27, 2018, from 9

a.m. - 5 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

The Mission of an Early Response Team is to provide a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of a disaster. This

team is neither a first response group of emergency workers nor a recovery rebuild or repair team; rather it fills a

specific need in the early days after a disaster to establish the presence of the church.

Registration is $40 and includes a manual, t-shirt, lunch, background check, and leader expenses. For ERT certifica-

tion, participants will need to attend the entire course. This training will have hands-on activities, it is recommended

that you dress comfortably in layers.

To register, visit www.mississippi-umc.org/ert, or email Diane Goolsby ([email protected]).
