The increase of globalization and the resulting integration between the domestic and international markets has changed the landscape of consumer interaction in terms of products, services, tastes and preferences. The consumer needs both awareness and protection and this can only be ensured by the effective implementation of existing legislations supplemented by new legislations as required. Further, identification of future challenges is necessary, so that there can be a planned and strategic approach rather than a knee jerk reaction to newer issues and problems in the field of effective understanding and implementation of consumer rights.
Thus, it becomes paramount to evaluate current challenges under the Consumer Protection Act, to understand the inconveniences faced by the consumer and thus press for the required policy and legislative changes to ensure that the consumer is both aware and empowered.
