Who We Are The North Lawndale Coordinating Council is a group of
North Lawndale stakeholders, including community-
based organizations, business owners, elected officials
and individuals, that have come together to guide
comprehensive planning and implementation in NorthLawndale (Community Area 29).
We develop innovative solutions to improve the built

Why We Do What We Do We love this community
North Lawndale has not had a comprehensive planning
process in nearly 50 years. Currently, there is no entity
to develop guiding principles and policies, let alonecoordinate the development activities to maximize
impact of growth and to ensure an equitable distribution
of resources throughout the community and provide a
sense of “place” for North Lawndale.

How We Work The Coordinating Council’s work is led by a steering
committee that guides the strategic direction of the
group; develops mechanisms for decision making;
provides a framework for comprehensive planning and
related processes and makes policy recommendations.
The “nuts and bolts” of the Coordinating Council’s work
is carried out by sub-committees, that are organized
along various quality of life sectors.
