Proposed Career and Technology Course for 2014-2015
Social Media Marketing– Students will earn one credit towards
Business and Industry endorsement– Students will learn how marketers are
incorporating social media in their overall marketing strategy.
– Students will learn techniques for gaining customer and consumer buy-in to achieve their marketing goals

Money Matters– Students will earn .5 credit towards
Business and Industry endorsement– Students will apply critical thinking skills
to analyze financial options based on current and projected economic factors
– Students will determine methods for achieving long-term financial goals through investment, retirement planning, risk management, and estate planning.

Proposed Dual Credit Course for 2014-2015
Learning Frameworks (Steele AHS only)– Offered through NCTC– Students will earn .5 credit for high school MAPS
(Methodology for Personal Success) and 3 college credit hours of EDUC 1300 (CORE College Readiness elective)
– Required for students in 9th or 10th grade and for students who are not TSI ready
– Students will focus on skills and strategies necessary for students to make the successful transition from high school to college and beyond.

Proposed Dual Enrollment Program Options for 2014-2015
OnRamps Dual Enrollment Program– All three high schools– Developed and offered through University
of Texas as blended learning (taught by NISD staff in conjunction with UT professor)
– Opportunity to earn college credit without taking the TSI readiness assessment
– Lower cost for students ($180 for three hours credit)

Proposed Dual Enrollment Course for 2014-2015
OnRamps Pre-calculus– Students will earn one credit for high
school Pre-calculus and 3 college credit hours of MATH 2312
– Algebra 2 prerequisite– Students who complete first semester at
college-ready standard will enroll in the dual credit course for Spring

Proposed Dual Enrollment Course for 2014-2015
OnRamps Statistics– Students will earn one credit for high
school Statistics and 3 college credit hours of MATH 1342
– Algebra 1 prerequisite, Algebra 2 preferred
– Students who complete first semester at college-ready standard will enroll in undergraduate course for Spring.

College Preparatory Classes
• House Bill 5 requires each school district shall partner with at least one institution of higher learning to develop and provide courses in college preparatory for mathematics and language arts.
• Must be for students in 12th grade whose EOCs do not meet college readiness standards (Algebra I, English I & English II)
