We are accepting monetary donations as well as donations of video/board games, movies and other recreational equipment to support our teen programs. The Niles Teen Center is a Village of Niles program that provides a welcoming, structured and safe environment for local teens to spend time with friends, receive homework assistance, play games and develop social skills. The Niles Teen Center promotes community service opportunities, special activities, trips and educational programs. Check out our newsletter for more information on all that we have to offer local teenagers. Membership - There is a $20 annual fee for teens who live in Niles. There is a $35 annual fee for teens who do not live in Niles. All youth must register with a staff person before using the Teen Center. We now accept Visa, Mastercard, and Discover cards for membership and program registration. Memberships renew annually! Guests are welcome to attend with a current member or at a parent’s request up to three times if space and staffing allow. Guests must check in with staff and conditions apply. After three visits, membership is required for attendance. Transportation - Since we are located at Golf Mill Shopping Center, you can take advantage of public transportation including the Niles Free Bus #410, #411 & #412 and Pace Bus #208, #240, #241, #270 & #272. Awards - In 2011, the Village of Niles was recognized by Bloomberg Businessweek as the Best, Most Affordable Place to Raise Kids. Niles ranked #1 in the whole United States. The Niles Teen Center and Golf Mill Shopping Center were awarded a Gold U.S. Maxi Award by the International Council of Shopping Centers for their successful, on-going partnership. STEAM Project TuesdaysSTEAM Project TuesdaysSTEAM Project TuesdaysSTEAM Project Tuesdays On most Tuesdays, staff will offer projects related to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Generally, these could include science experiments, art drawings, or construction of a marble run. Spring projects include a save the egg design and drop experiment, 4 wheeled balloon car con-struction and race, fluffy slime, ocean in a bottle and crystalized names.

Are you juggling too many responsibilities and feeling stressed? Having a conflict with a friend? Or

maybe you just want to share ideas with other teens? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for group! Girls group is Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00, and boys group is Thursdays from 4:00-5:00. These groups are designed to meet the social and emotional needs of teens. They focus on improving self-esteem/self-image, communication skills, conflict resolution, reducing stressors and addressing other challenges teens face. The groups are facilitated by Nicole Espinoza and Darren Brown of Niles Family Services. If you are interested in additional support, Niles Family Services also offers counseling and additional services. Please contact us at 847-588-8460.

Every year the Niles Police Department accumulates a number of lost or stolen bikes and is forced to sell them at an auction because their owners cannot be identified. When you register your bike, your bicycle’s information is entered into a national database allowing the Police Department to contact you if it is ever lost or stolen. So don’t be left walking while someone else rides away on your bike. Register your bike through the Niles Teen Center or Niles Police Department.
