sonal service offered by proprietors Alexan-

dros and Kostas ensure that hotel guests feel

totally at home and enjoy the comforts and

hospitality of the establishment.

The 82 rooms are located in six two-storey

blocks which together with the main building,

the restaurant and the chapel of St Konstantin

and St Eleni make up a small village.

Twice a year for the festive periods this village

comes alive to the sounds of traditional Greek

music, accompanied by the enticing smells

of the barbecue and excellent free-flowing

wine.

Listen to the enchanting sounds of summer.

Relax in the company of birdsong, the trick-

ling of water, and the singing of the crickets.

Cast your eyes to the horizon and rest them

on the brilliant sunset.

For 36 years Nikiti beach has been the finishing

line of the annual swimming crossing of the To-

roneos gulf, and the scene of the ensuing cel-

ebrations. Nikiti is famous for its well-preserved

old village and also for its nightlife. Thanks to the

amenities it offers, Nikiti has become the focal

point of the surrounding area. Most important

of all, Nikiti is its beaches.

And if ‘one sea’ is not enough, there are beauti-

ful beaches nearby at Kalogria, Elia, Tripotamos

and Lagomandra. As well as watersports, with-

out prior experience or a permit you can hire

a small boat and discover the rugged coastline

and tiny islets from the sea.

Much of our food is made from our own home-grown produce, but

when this does not suffice, we select natural products grown in the sur-

rounding area to create the traditional dishes served up in our taverna

and restaurant accompanied by select wines and barrelled beer. Particu-

lary to be recommended are the meals prepared in the wood-burning

oven, including our pizzas.

In the garden restaurant we offer daily an assortment of at least twelve

dishes served with fresh greens and vegetables, plus a large selection

of traditional Greek appetizers. In the pleasant atmosphere of the pool

taverna, while admiring the sea view, you can sample meat dishes fresh

from the grill and on request freshly caught fish and seafood. We will

be happy to organise celebrations and evenings for you to share your

private moments with friends.

We produce our own honey with particular care; it is the product of an incomparable flora, particularly rich in natural elements, with a unique quality, aroma and flavour.

Before bees began to be used for domestic production, honey, famed for its nutritional value and therapeutic properties and particularly rare, granted prestige

to those who possessed it and was considered the food of immortality. Its nutritional value, which has been known since antiquity, is again confirmed in the present day. It is beneficial to everyone, and especially people who need energy due to physical and intellectual fatigue.

We cultivate and serve delicious fresh tomatoes, peppers,

cucumbers, parsley, dill and other produce, grown in the greenhouse

next to the hotel entrance.

We cultivate our own olive grove in the traditional way and with natural fertilizers, producing pure virgin olive oil and olives. Enjoy!Olive oil, “liquid gold” according to Homer, is a miraculous source of nutritional ingredients for humans, Hippocrates and other famous physicians in antiquity recommended its consumption on a daily basis, and used it as a cure for various ailments. Modern Medicine continues to recommend the use of olive oil in the diets of both adults and children, thanks to its valuable properties that provide health, wellbeing and longevity.

Sithonia

Set off from Nikiti, one of Halkidiki’s

most picturesque villages and Greece’s

number one bee-keeping village. Gaze

out from under the morning sun onto

the clear deep blue seas across to Mount

Athos. Yield to the charms of Vourvourou,

with its long stretches of beach, and continue

onwards past enchanting bays, wooded coast-

line, sandy beaches and secluded rocky islands

until you reach Sarti.

Wander from Sithonia... to Thessaloniki

All the way from Sarti to Kriaritsi you can hear the buzz of tavernas. Idyl-lically situated on the waterfront, the neatly set tables entice you to

come in and sample their seafood and freshly caught fish.

Continuing on, crossing several kilometers of spectacular moun-tain landscape on the southern tip of the peninsula, now with

the Aegean to your left, you arrive in Porto Koufo. The harbour, one of the safest in the area, has kept till today its ancient name. It was known as the ‘deaf’ port, because the sound of the sea cannot be heard at all in this bay. Look out upon the wonderful sight of giant rocks towering over the bay, and

enjoy the setting sun and the calm of the landscape.

From Porto Koufo to Neos Marmaras the mind can travel back to bygone days when pirates of the Mediterranean

used the enchanting enclaves of the rugged coast for ref-uge and hideouts.

It is best to arrive late in the afternoon in the village of Parthenonas to enjoy the splendour of the sunsets.

The tour ends at Neos Marmaras, a lively resort, offer-ing everything you need for entertainment and night life.

For the hiker, there are numerous trails across Sithonia, and for cyclists there is a special guide describing cycling routes.

A day trip to Thessaloniki is well worth while, there are many interest-ing historical sights to visit.

The trip starts with a visit to Ancient Olynthos, one of the most significant political centres of the classical age. The town was founded in the 7th cen-tury BC and was destroyed by the Per-sians in 479 BC.

Leaving historical Olynthos, the road takes us through Nea Triglia, the Eliachoria (olive vil-lages) and Petralona. Petralona Cave is approx 1 km outside the village, with significant anthropo-logical findings and the earliest traces of settlement in Greece.

Our next destination is Thessaloniki. Greece’s second city, 2000 years old, needs no special recommendation. It is all too easy to succumb to its charms. The city with its extremely interesting museums - the Archaeological and Byzantine - will absorb you for hours. The return journey along the national road is easy and will take around one hour.

To the west...

Further afield...To the north...

The mountain routes in northern Halkidiki defy description.Whichever one you choose, you should on no account miss:

Stageira, known for ‘Aristotle’s Park’. In this purpose-built theme-park a series of inter-active games have been set up to encourage the visitor to discover

and apply the laws first formulated by the founder of logic.

Arnea, lying at the foot of Mount Holomontas, has been named a ‘historical site’ and a ‘traditional settlement’ by the

Ministry of Culture. Its traditional architecture, customs, traditions and cultural events have been preserved

and are now a main attraction.

Stop at Varvara for a tsipouro and a treat from the grill.

Halkidiki is not just sun and sea.Halkidiki is beautiful place steeped in historyand magnificent natural beauty.

To the east...

The route at quite some height above sea level passes through the picturesque villages of Agios Nikolaos, Pirgadikia and Gomati. Ideal for views of the Athos peninsula and Halkidiki’s only inhabited island Amouliani. The following are a must:

Ierissos. In the Cultural Centre 3D screenings are regularly shown taking the audience on a journey through the Holy Mount of Athos or to the captivating underwater world of the sea kingdom.

Ouranoupoli. One of the region’s most significant resorts and the departure point for visitors to the world’s only monastic state. The boat taking pilgrims to the Athos port of Daphne departs daily from Ouranoupoli’s small harbour.

Olympiada lies in an area protected by the NATURA 2000 programme because of its natural beauty. Not far outside the village, archaeological excavations brought to light Ancient Stageira, the birthplace of Aristotle. The archaeological site is well preserved and can be visited.
