TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE

January 2013 – Present – BP Area Authority (including Drilling operations and Major Project’s)

In 2013 I made the move from operations to Area Authority (AA), and in the three years, I have held the role on a number of different platforms, and for a number of different work streams. I started off as the area authority for Drilling, this provided excellent exposure to their activities, and the safe control of work. My operational experience was invaluable in the management of their SIMOPS and the control of isolations. I carried out coaching with all the drilling teams to ensure that by the end of my assignment they had the capability within their own teams for the successful development of Permits, the cross-checking against BP procedures and the development and verification of isolations. This post was followed by secondment to the Magnus Life Extension project (MLXP), which was classified as a major project by BP ( 1 billion pounds ), this is where I believe I truly mastered the role of Area authority. The project consisted of a Flotel arriving to the Magnus to execute in the region of 700,000 man hours of activity with a POB in excess of 300. I was seconded onshore for the select and define stages of the project, with my key responsibilities being the coaching of both the onshore and offshore organizations, and the review and verification of all WCC’s associated with each work pack issued.I took the Area Authority lead for this project organizing and running 2 away days to ensure consistency among the 30 Area Authorities. This was very successful and I was nominated for a bp helios award and received a letter of congratulations from Bob Dudley Following the Magnus project, I moved on to the ETAP Life Extension, where I continued to do the role of AA on a major project, once again having a lead role and ensuring consistency by running the same away days. The skills learned and mastered on MLXP have allowed me to provide coaching to the full AA community on board the ETAP, which as is my nature I have completed successfully.I have now moved on to the Mungo platform, which is typically an un-manned installation, which is supported by the ETAP. However at this time a drilling campaign is ongoing and I was requested to act as the Area Authority in support of the OTL to safely deliver the remaining drilling and construction scopes. This is my 4th trip in this role, and in this time I have standardized the controls for all work types, and driven this into the Mungo organization to ensure that consistency is delivered in all permit development.
