Some NIFC projects supported in 2010 include:

» Promoting local sustainable economic development in the Negev with a new focus on developing employment opportunities that will also serve as a model for other struggling areas in the country.

» Encouraging relationships between Jewish and Arab civil society groups in mixed cities and helping build their relationships with national level organizations.

» Cultivating leaders among people with disabilities and advancing the understanding and acceptance of the disabled throughout Israeli society.

» Empowering diverse youth populations in disadvantaged areas with leadership skills to increase community education and organizing.

» Expanding the participation of the FSU immigrant community in issues of cultural and religious Judaism, pluralism and tolerance.

» Supporting a public hotline that responds to civil and human rights concerns throughout the country, also serving as a barometer of the public’s concerns and needs.

» Equipping NGOs with the tools and knowledge required to understand state and local budgets, promoting the efficiency and transparency of the public sector.

» Helping to build a civil society infrastructure in the Triangle region, home to many of Israel’s Arab citizens.

» Demonstrating how greywater recycling can be used as a solution to increasing water shortages.

» Educating the Ethiopian-Israeli community about their workplace rights through a weekly television program in Amharic.
