Company profile

Currently Nidera has domestic and inter-national operations in 21 major export and import countries and distributes its products to more than 60 countries worldwide. By con-solidating its presence throughout the physical value chain, Nidera has created a platform that efficiently connects agricultural producers and food consumers.

Strategically located production, processing and logistical assets support Nidera’s signifi-cant global sourcing and efficient distribution capabilities. An established presence in the major export and import regions enables Nidera to benefit from an intimate knowledge of local market drivers including farm economics, weather patterns, and government policies, and thus helps to optimize its operations and improve operating margin.

What we doWe are experts in the trading, origination, processing, merchandising, handling, storage and logistics of grain and oilseeds. In addi-tion, we are engaged in the distribution of crop technology (agronomic seed, nutrients and crop protection), and we are a leading seed research and production company in South America, with an extensive proprietary, branded germplasm base in corn, soybean, wheat, sunflower and sorghum seed.

From research, production, and distribution of crop technology to the collection, processing, and marketing of grain and oilseeds. Nidera’s vertically integrated business adds value across each phase of the supply chain.

Nidera is a global com-modity service and solutions provider for agricultural markets. The company was founded in 1920 in Rotter-dam, The Netherlands and its company name repre-sent the initials of the six agricultural trade regions in which they focused their activities: Netherlands, (East) Indies, Deutschland (Germany), England, Russia and Argentina.

In 1920 a number of European grain merchants joined forces and founded a new company in Rotterdam. They predicted correctly that the city would build a port that would become the major gateway for European export and import trade. They started their activities in the Netherlands, India, Germany, England, Russia and Argentina. Nidera began to expand into other countries soon thereafter.

Over the years the company has built up a global network based on trading independence, performance reliability and relationship loyalty, and has always been known as a pioneer in the development of new trade flows.

From the late 1960’s Nidera acquired a strong position in the vegetable oils trade industry. From the 1990’s, the company’s trading portfolio in grains and oilseeds grew in the EU, the Black Sea area and Asia. From the 1990’s the company has established itself as a leader in the fast-growing Argentine agricultural technology sector.

Grain & OilseedsThe G&O business is engaged in origina-tion and merchandising of grain, oilseeds and their derivates. Nidera also has a small Bioenergy business that trades biofuels and their feedstock. Products are procured from farmers and other domestic merchants in the major producing areas of the Americas and of Eastern and Western Europe and Australia, and sold to customers in Asia, the Middle East, Northern Africa and within Europe and South America. Nidera’s customer base is made up of millers, oilseed crushers, com-pound feed producers, food manufacturers, as well as bioenergy and power producers and distributors.

The Company’s activities are closely related to their geographic area of operations; activities in export-oriented countries are primarily dedicated to origination, includ-ing storage, processing, local transport and export, whereas activities in import-oriented countries are primarily dedicated to port discharge, warehousing, distribution, and domestic merchandising.

Crop TechnologyThe Crop Technology business is engaged in research, breeding and development, produc-tion and distribution of agronomic seeds, as

With its own proprietary R&D platform and a major seed germplasm pool of global scope, Nidera is at the forefront of breeding technol-ogy development. By leveraging its high-yielding germplasm, which is recognized for its excellent adaptability characteristics, the Company has developed a number of superior, breakthrough commercial products (hybrids and varieties).

Nidera is one of the largest seed producers and distributors in South America, with a continuously growing planted area coverage. The Company is the market leader in Argen-tina, has built a major presence in Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, and is establishing its presence in Europe through agreements to license its germplasm to third parties.

The Company’s strong position as a supplier of crop technology adds to the competitive advantage of its G&O origination platform. In the key origination countries, it is present throughout the agricultural supply chain and therefore has detailed knowledge and aware-ness of real-time market developments and the issues that are of importance to farmers.
