In 1984, Nidecker set out to build the best snowboards in the world. Today, years later, the mission has not changed. We still strive to build the best snowboards in the world, period. Since ’84, our products have won numerous awards and accolades for their quality and the cutting edge innovations they incorporate. at Nidecker, we recognize the importance of environ-mental sustainability and have taken extraordinary steps across our entire product line to use materials and apply processes that will reduce our impact on the environment. as part of this program, we insist that our materials be ecologically certified and every process we implement must meet or exceed sustainable norms. all of our mate-rials and processes have been carefully selected with one eye toward quality and the other toward our impact on the world around us.

While these efforts have added cost to the process of building boards, the Nidecker family feels very strongly that these costs not be passed on to the consumer, and our prices have not risen as a result of these initiatives. We will continue to pursue excellence in snowboard ma-nufacturing, developing new technologies and finetuning our products, but we don’t believe we must do this at the expense of the environment.

Nidecker has long been an industry leader in developing eco-friendly materials, products, and processes. Indeed, some of our sustainable processes have been in place al-most since our inception – over 125 years ago! We believe a sustainable future is within reach and will work cease-lessly toward that end. Our long-term goal is to produce the finest snowboards in the world, while reducing our overall carbon footprint to zero.

HERE ARE SOME OF THE STEPS WE HAVE TAKEN TO KEEP OUR WORLD GREEN:

- We use the heat from our snowboard presses to heat the factory through a closed-circuit radiant heating sys-tem in the floor.

- We recycle our unused cores and other remnants, but most particularly, we reuse our scrap base material. this not only eliminates one of the largest portions of manu-facturing waste created by making snowboards, but it allows us to avoid using harmful petrochemical inks and solvents.

- Our waxing process uses a 100% biodegradable formula.

- all of our internal processes meet or exceed sustainable norms.

- We use die cut bases almost exclusively and design base patterns with inverse - color variations, meaning a much more efficient use of materials.

- Our packaging is minimalist and 100% recyclable.

- We favor materials produced locally, close to our facto-ry, to reduce transportation requirements and minimize our carbon footprint.

- Our materials are virtually all ecologically certified. For example, most of our cores are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which means that they come from forests responsibly managed to meet the changing social, economic and ecological needs of present and future ge-nerations.

- We support Protect Our Winters (POW), Jeremy Jones’ environmental non-profit, the purpose of which is to unite the winter sports community in a common goal of reducing climate change’s effects on our sport and local mountain communities.

the twin-tip shape was designed with freestylers in mind. the nose and tail have exactly the same dimensions and the stance is centered, so the board performs equally well, regardless of your orientation. Built to allow riders to jib, spin, stomp, and butter, it gives you not just the pop you need, but the pop you want. regular or switch, it doesn’t matter, it’s all the same.

a purely directional board is best for all-moun-tain freeriding. the nose is longer and wider than the tail, giving you plenty of control in any ter-rain, and the stance is set back to help you float above the pow. Plus, we stiffened the tail to help snap you out of turns and keep your speed up.

this is a hybrid shape, combining the twin-tip and the directional shapes. It will give you the float and control of a Directional shape, but with a twin “feel” that helps you perform better swit-ch. the stiffness is twin, but the inserts have a small setback like the directional.

Weld ing wood i s the most eco-friendly and technologically ad-vanced way to make a wood core known to man. the wood laminates are not glued, but bonded together through a complex process of fric-tion and vibration. this results in re-duced weight, yet increased stren-gth. Nidecker is the only company in the world to master the technology of welding wood.

this is our standard poplar core com-bined with beech reinforcement. the beech on nose and tail provides more pop and better stiffness and torsion. If you like a consistent ride that has a lot of life, this core should be your ‘go to’ wood core.

Starting with beech for superior tor-sion, and poplar for lightness, we’ve added spruce in the nose and tail, and found the perfect combination of woods to give you more pop than any other snowboard offered today.

master Core construction is a product of our long history of experimentation in materials and woodcraft. It is the perfect harmony of different wood densities and wood species (poplar, beech, spruce, and paulownia), which lightens the core and results in a supe-rior weight-to-performance-to-power ratio, and an ultra-strong, uber-res-ponsive, yet lightweight, core.
