OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE DETAILS (1/3)

• All slides up on my web-site within 24 hours of the lecture

• The project should be concise and well written – this is good training for producing professional documents.

• So projects should be:– A maximum of 14 pages including everything (exceutive

summary, figures, footnotes, tables, references etc…)– Text should be at 12-point font, with 1.5 spacing and 1

inch margins at left/right and 2 inches at top/bottom– The first page should be title, name and an executive

summary

• Charlie Wang – the class TA – will be running a Stata training course over the second week. He will also have tutorials (like me) to help with Stata.

• Stata costs about $50 for a small and $100 for a large version http://www.stata.com/order/new/edu/gradplans/gp-campus.html (but there are no required text-books), or can be accessed via X-Windows on the campus server for free

• Punctuality is important– We start at 9:00am sharp and part of your class

involvement is turning up by 9:00am– Presentations will be timed (including questions)

• Your are welcome to convert your projects into honors thesis, PhD ideas or even press release these

• Check this class is for you:– Last year people that worked hard continuously,

contributed in class & made deadlines all did well– Not good for last minute cramming!
