Not to mention a bounty of farm-to-table cuisine and legendary theatre. The main attraction, however, is still the award-winning wineries. Clustered together like good friends, this region’s wineries are perfectly situated for a day of tasting, with a stop for lunch at one of several excellent estate restaurants. The key to this region’s success is pretty hard to miss. The Niagara Escarpment is a natural wonder, rising 500 metres and stretching from New York all the way to Tobermory on Lake Huron. In Niagara, it creates perfect conditions for vineyards, cooling the vines in spring and warming the grapes in late summer. The result is a thriving community of innovative wineries making some of Canada’s best vintages.
