CATTLEMEN’S CLASSIC HEREFORD AND POLLED HEREFORD SCHOLARSHIP The Nebraska Hereford Association/Cattlemen’s Classic Educational Scholarship of $200 is available for the educational assistance of a high school senior or college student who plans to further his/her education. These students need to be enrolled as full time student in an accredited institution of higher learning. This scholarship is a non-renewable award and will be used to offset tuition, fees, room, and board costs. The Cattlemen’s Classic will award two scholarships-one to a Junior member involved in raising Horned Hereford cattle and one to a Junior involved in raising Polled Hereford cattle. Application may be made for only one of these scholarships. Applicants must be a member of the Nebraska Junior Hereford Association. Consideration will  be given to the app licant’s participation in church, school, 4-H, FFA a nd other youth activities including the Nebraska Junior Hereford Association. The following material must be submitted to the Nebraska Hereford Association Secretary by February 14, 2010. A completed application form signed by the applicant. A transcript of grades and statement of rank in class signed by the school superintendant Principal. Three (3) typed letters of recommendation certifying character and leadership. One of These letters should be from a school faculty member. Relatives should not be used. A resume of your school and extracurricular activities. A 200 word essay on what you have learned from showing cattle. Selection will be made by committee. Ap plications will be judged by the following criteria:  Need 25%; Scholastic ability 35%; Evidence of plans to complete the degree 10%; Other recommendations 10%; Activities other than school 25%. The certificate will be presented to a high school senior at graduation or an award ceremony. The recipient may be notified during the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic. The recipient will be required to submit a current photo or make themselves available to be photographed for publication. Scholarship applications are due by February 10, 2011.
