In the exsisiting open and competitive telecommuni-

cation industry, Huawei concentrates on the provision

Carrier-class component

Soft switch: SoftX3000SoftX3000 offers an integrated solution for both fixed

and mobile network which is deployed in the control

layer of NGN. Adopting DOPRA on Carrier-class platform

ensures the 6H features of the euipment - high

availability, high reliability, high realtime, high

scalability, high load balance and high compliance to

open system. At maximum, SofX3000 supports up to

2 million subscribers, with the processing capability up

to16M BHCA.

Trunk media gateway TMG8010Locating at the edge access layer, TMG8010 acts as

media gateway to enable inter-working between PSTN

and NGN network with outstanding QoS guarantee.

TMG8010 implements the coding/decoding between

the voice traffic flow carried in IP packet network and

Universal media gateway UMG8900UMG8900 supports both narrowband and packet

switching functions with multiple access interfaces.

The packet switching provides IP interface to imple-

ment service traffic process and conversion between

IP/TDM network, which implements efficiently the in-

ter-working between different networks.

As a large capacity Universal Media Gateway (UMG)

in NGN, it performs the functions of subscriber access,

large-scale TMG, NGN-enabled switch and mobile

network gateway as well.

Signaling gateway SG7000Besides built-in signaling function in TMG, SG7000 as

independent signaling gateway is also available to

fulfill the inter-working between PSTN network and

NGN so as to cooperate with the softswitch and other

IP-based database equipment (e.g. IP-HLR, IP-SCP

and IP-SMSC). It provides up to 5120 64K links and

built-in STP function.

Multimedia resources server: MRS6000Under the control of SoftX3000, MRS6000 provides

medium resource to packet network. Unlike the tradi-

tional packet peripherals (IP) based on circuit

technology, MRS6000 is directly based on packet

technology and eliminates the coding/decoding con-

version of from TDM to IP, resulting in high quality

medium flow on IP.

Secure and reliable network structureU-SYS provides powerful AAA (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) for both card users and fixed-line

users, together with security measures such as address anti-fraud, anti-attack for network key equipment (such

as DHCP Server, Radius Server, etc. ), monitor and control of user bandwidth and traffic volume, etc.

NGN-enabled Switch application

Current PSTN is narrow-band TDM circuit-switch network. In order to evolve to NGN and also take into account

the evolution requirement of current network, U-SYS solution (SoftX3000+UMG8900) implements the traditional

switching functions based on NGN technology. SoftX3000 implements the soft switch function and UMG8900

implements the user access and switch function.

Through this way it can reconstruct the PSTN step by step on the basis of being compatible with the current TDM

interface to implement the smooth evolution to NGN.

iOss Core Component: iManager N2000 Inte-grated NMS

iManager N2000 integrated network management

system uses standard protocol to manage all devices

in NGN, from softswitch, various gateways, to IADs.

iManager adopts layered structure, suitable for flex-

ible networking and large scale network.

Through IADMS, iManager implements the

configuration, troubleshooting and performance man-

agement of the access layer devices, facilitating net-

work management.

iManager supports end-to-end service management,

provides detailed device operation information. The

formerly complicated job of service configuration, IAD

dispatching and trunk configuration can be performed

easily through data setting.

Reliability is embedded in U-SYS design. For all components, the major functional modules and cards support

1+1 backup, hot plug in/out and hot swapping. The important accessories such as power and fans adopt

redundancy design. NET KEEPER, U-SYS security total solution, is used in all major components of U-SYS. It

guards against the attack from DoS, prevents users' illegal login and ensures legal users' security, guarantee the

network security in all aspects.

Favorable compatibility

U-SYS adopts standard protocols for its components, which can inter-work well with components from other

vendors also adopting standard protocols. For example, U-SYS adopts SIP/SIP-T/BICC/H.323 between

SoftX3000, H.248/MGCP between SoftX3000 and the gateways, PARLAY between SoftX3000 and App server,

SIGTRAN between SoftX3000 and SG, SIP between SoftX3000 and multimedia terminals.

Operable and manageable network

The integrated operation supporting system of U-SYS(iOSS) provides unified management of all the equipment

in the network, performs billing management of the abundant services in NGN as well as gateway settlement,

giving powerful support to the operation and management of NGN.

iBill CBS supports the billing of the various services in

NGN, gateway charging settlement and the billing

management of the whole network.

iManager supports network fault relativity analysis.

The real source of alarming is located among the

group of related alarming messages. And, more

powerfully, the alarming relativity analysis among

multiple devices is provided.

Network all-around performance analysis and synthe-

ses is provided for the operator to get real-time net-

work performance information.

IP Centrex and U-path

Enterprises' requirement for integrated services of

voice, data, and multi-media is ever growing in-size

and complexity. How to maintain the effectiveness

and reliability of these services are their major concerns,

at the same time hoping that their OAS (Office Auto-

matic System) and communication systems can inter-

work closely with carriers' telecommunication platform.

U-SYS has a complete product line, providing series of AMGs and IADs, low cost and portable terminals for end

user access.

Provides both POTS user access and ADSL/VDSL

broadband user access, flexbile in configuration.

Good device maintenance, troubleshooting and

online-testing capability. Provides circuit test and

loop test of subscriber lines, interconnection tests,

etc. Through cooperation with softswitch, AMG5000

supports traffic statistics.

AMG5000 has serial specification of 160/320/1216

POTS, supports cascading to adapt to various user

scales, provides most cost-effective access.

Corridor type IAD makes full use of Category-5

cable resources, facilites unified cable deployment.

Corridor type IAD provides built-in Lanswitch to

U-SYS system has been deployed in China Operator S since 2002. Having established an NGN covering major

big and intermediate-sized cities in China, Operator S released NGN-based IP phone cards with 600,000 card

numbers at the beginning of 2003. Besides voice and intelligent services supported by the original PSTN, China

Operator S's NGN provides a wide variety of multimedia services and open third party services, exhibiting

competence in offering combined services. In May 2003�China Operator S signed a contract with Huawei to

build its Phase 3 commercial networks in another 110 cities, enlarging the coverage of its commercial network

to 150 developed cities all over the country.

Operator J is the dominant fixed operator in country B, the objective of Operator J's Next Generation

Network is to evolve their PSTN network to a unified network that carries voice, data, mobile and

multimedia traffic with open protocols in a distributed architecture. Construction of NGN system shall

be based on existing packet network and telecommunication infrastructure. It must provide existing

PSTN and ISDN services, as well as new attractive value-added services in broadband network such

as ADSL and leased lines services. By the open interfaces with Application Servers and IN, the NGN

network shall also provide various enhanced services for Operator J's valued customers. In June

2003, Huawei was awarded formally by Operator J for its overall network consolidation and evolution

towards NGN, covering more than 100K lines.
