Principal’s Report
Classroom Teachers….. A few weeks ago I provided a list of staff working in each level. Last week students then had
the opportunity to meet their new teacher and grade as part of our whole school transition process. However, having
received further enrolments over the past few weeks, we have had to slightly change our structure and employ a new
teacher to join us in 2019. We are currently seeing an increase in enrolments across the school. Next year we will be
splitting our preps into 3 groups. As a result of this change Rachel Webb will be moving from working in the 1/2 area to
Prep. This change has provided smaller numbers in each of our prep classes and was a commitment we made several
years ago to establish for our younger students. As a result of this change we have hired a new teacher for 2019.
Nicholas Sparkes has been appointed to teach in the 1/2 class. We are excited to have Nicholas come on board, he
impressed us during his interview with his commitment to education and ability to build positive relationships with
students. Over the January holidays Nicholas will be attending the school at various stages to help formalise his
transition and be ready to meet the students on day 1 of school next year.
Listed below is our class structure for 2019.

There are still some roles to finalise however this will provide all families with the list of teachers as well as the support
staff working in each level in 2019. As well as our small class sizes for each level we have a number of support staff
working in each class. This continues to provide smaller ratios and greater 1 to 1 access to teachers for all of our
students. With slightly larger class sizes in our 3/4 area we have increased our level of support for our students. Every
year we work hard at maintaining this structure to provide the best possible learning environment for our students. It is
important, despite our increase in enrolments, we remain true to our core values as a school. In 2017 we started the
year with 8 classes, next year we will have 11 classes. This is a growth of over 60 students in the last 2 years and a
reflection on the positive direction the school is moving in.
Thank You….. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge those teaching staff who will be leaving us at the
end of this year. Ashleigh Sneddon, Chelsea Smith, Jacinta Elliott, Maddison Cameron and Sue Taylor have all made
various contributions to the school throughout their time here at LEPS. Each have been instrumental in running so many
different programs around the school and I would like to wish them all the best for their future teaching career. Each of
them have accepted positions at various schools across the state, good luck.
Final Thank You….. As we are well into our final week of school it is always important to acknowledge and thank 3 key
groups within our school for their work throughout the year
To the community – Thank you for supporting us in so many areas around the school and for wanting to become
involved in the school for the benefit of our students. Every additional support adds so much value to the school and has
continued to build our sense of identity and involvement in the community.
To the Staff – Thank you for being extremely passionate and dedicated to your role. Every staff member goes above and
beyond their role putting not only valuable time and effort into ensuring they create the best possible environment to
achieve success for our students. All the staff have been a passionate driving force behind what we have achieved this
year and should be credited fully with our achievements over the last 12 months.
To The Students – Finally to the students who have risen to so many challenges throughout the year to make sure they
make the most of every opportunity available to them throughout the year.
Farewell….. A number of our families will be leaving the school as their final child completes grade 6. Some of these
families have been with the school, for many years through various siblings, providing ongoing support to the school
across a wide range of areas. Sadly we say goodbye to the: Blew-Doucette, Browitt, Fitzgerald, Jack, Norris, Skinder,
Bacon, Barnes, Gurney, Ham, Ioakim, Nicol, Palmieri, So, Whitfield, Bills, Garth-Honey and Searle families. We wish you
all the best and thank you for your ongoing support throughout the years.
Holiday Work….. Over the school holidays a number of bigger projects will be taking place. The holidays are always a
good opportunity to get large jobs finished around the school. During January the basketball court will be resurfaced
and new lines painted on, the STEM room will receive new carpet and the outside of the administration building will be
painted.
Principal’s Report cont’d……
Final Week….. All students will finish school on Thursday 20th December at 3:15pm. All students will resume on
Thursday 31st January 2019.
It has been an absolute pleasure to once again lead the school for another year. There are so many wonderful parents,
members of the community, students and staff that contribute to making the school such a positive experience for our
students. It is a pleasure to work alongside these people ever day knowing that we are making a difference in educating
the lives of so many children. Every year, as a school, we are faced with many challenges, but we continue to come
together to build on our success. Whilst I am always looking forward to a holiday at the end of the year, I am excited
about what lies ahead for our school.
I hope you and your family have a safe and Merry Christmas and I will see you all in the new year.
