Banned Live Fish (not a complete listing)

For the complete listing of prohibited CT importation of live fish, live fish eggs, reptiles, amphibians, etc. go to: http://www.sots.ct.gov/sots/lib/sots/regulations/title_26/055.pdf

• Bowfish (Amia calva) • Gars (Lepisosteidae) • Grass Carp or White Amur (Ctenopharyngodon idella) • Piranha (Serrasalminae, genera Serra- salmus,

Serrasalmo, Pygocentrus, Teddyella, Rooseveltiella and Pygopristus)

Update: Last month we reported Maine HP567 legislation to add Koi (Cyprinus carpio haematopterus) to the list of unrestricted aquarium or pond Fish that do not require an importation or possession permit. The bill failed in legislature. On May 20, 2015 The House and Senate accepted the "Ought Not To Pass" report of the Joint Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. This Legislation is dead for the 2015 session.
