I hope the members of the NESCC enjoyed 2016 as much as I did! It was a privilege and an honor to be the NESCC Chapter Chair this year. Here are the events that took place that I look back on with such fond memories:

At the January meeting, I had an opportunity to publicly thank Andrew Slesinski for the outstanding job he did for the NESCC as Chapter Chair in 2015.

The Chapter is also deeply indebted to Andrew for his work organizing our golf tournament each year. Andrew has been the driving force be-hind our golf outing since the inaugural event in 2014. organizing our golf tournament each year. Andrew has been the driving force behind our golf outing since the inaugural event in 2014.

In March, we met at Romaine’s Wood Grill & Bar in Northbor-ough, MA:

Denise Peterson presented “Driving Change – Sustainable Sourc-ing of Palm Oil.” This is a topic that has been gaining traction in the personal care and household cleaning markets.

Denise was most generous in sharing her time and expertise to improve our understanding.

In June, we had our 3rd Annual NESCC Golf Tournament at Blackstone Valley National Golf Club in Sutton, MA.

By all measures, the tournament was a success and a good time was had by all. Thanks to the sixteen foursomes of golfers for participating and to our eighteen hole sponsors for their gener-osity!

In September, we met again at Romaine’s Wood Grill & Bar in Northborough, MA.

Janice Hart was awarded best presentation of the year for “The Science of Fra-grance” presentation.

It was a very educational and interactive event that had us categorizing scents and combining them to create some recognizable fragrances.

In October, Karl Popp assembled an all-star cast of presenters for The NESCC Annual Scientific Seminar held at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy’s Worces-ter Campus.

A special thanks to Karl for moderating and to our speakers; Martin S. Vetham-uthu, Ph.D., Betty Aucar, Fran Mc Ateer, Jamin A Willoughby, Sr., Ph.D, and Aloysius Anaebonam, Ph.D.

On October 31st through November 3rd, many mem-bers of the NESCC were fortunate enough to attend the 29th Congress of the IFSCC at Walt Disney Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida.

World class presentations and equally impressive social events were enjoyed by those in attendance.

Many NESCC members assembled at Table 83 for the Closing Gala on Wednesday evening.

In November, we assembled at Sweet Kitchen & Bar in Worcester, Ma.

Mary Ellen Camire, Ph.D., CFS of the Univeristy of Maine School of Food & Agriculture presented “The Intersection of Food & Cosmetics.”

Dr. Camire provided many of the commonalities between food chemis-try and personal care as well as ways in which food ingredients are be-coming popular in cosmetics.

We also had our 2017 Officer Installation Ceremony at our November Meeting.

Craig Ford (Area 1 Director) welcomes Kathy Rainone (Chair), Lauren Trahan (Chair-Elect), Alfred “Freddie” Anderson-Villaluz (Secretary) and Beth McGowan (Treasurer).

I’d like to personally thank the 2016 NESCC Board for making my experi-ence enjoyable and rewarding; Kathy Rainone (Chair-Elect), Marilou Lonsdale (Secretary), and Beth McGowan (Treasurer). Many veteran members of the NESCC also stepped forward on numerous occasions to lighten the load and provide tremendous assistance. I promise to con-tinue returning the favor.

Sincerely,

Pat Clark

(New York, NY-September 2016) – The New York Society of Cosmetic Chemists (NYSCC) is pleased to announce that its 38th Annual Suppliers’ Day will take place May 2-3, 2017 in a new location, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. All under one roof, occupying contiguous space, the 2017 NYSCC Suppliers Day will provide the thousands of cosmetic and personal care manufacturers based in the tri-state area, and growing national and international contingencies, an accessible, convenient and efficient trade show and conference venue.

Suppliers’ Day is NYSCC flagship event and attracts close to 8,000 attendees working in R&D and product development for the biggest brand manufacturers in beauty and personal care as well as emerging independents. Exhibitors, more than 400 in 2016, include the leading ingredient and raw materials suppliers as well as testing and quality control labs, machinery, packaging compa-nies and professional service providers.

“After many discussions and outreach to our members and attendees it was evident that Suppli-ers’ Day had outgrown its previous facility. A venue closer to the hub of our industries’ product development and marketing, as well as one more accessible for all participants was most re-quested as an improvement to the event,“ said Rey Ordiales, Chair of the NYSCC Executive Board. “The Javits Center space presents us with the opportunity to make the show more conducive for learning, sourcing and networking, which are all key objectives of our attendees. All this in a prime location with the added benefit of being the most costeffective option available to our supplier members.”

In to two days of exhibits and education, NYSCC will offer an expanded educational program. New features, adaddition ded exhibitor value, and show experience enhancements to NYSCC Suppliers’ Day 2017 will be announced in the coming months.“Education and innovation is what drives this industry. There is no better place to be than NYC to message our mission while access-ing some of the best minds, products, and resources in cosmetic science and product develop-ment,” said Marie Thadal, Chair-Elect of the NYSCC Executive Board. “We anticipate a successful 2017 Suppliers’ Day in this new, expanded venue -- this success certainly helps our association amplify our member initiatives and advance best practices in consumer education, sourcing, sus-tainability and more.”
