ACO ParkDrain® is the next generation of surfacedrainage with major advantages in car parks,pedestrianised areas and hard-landscaped locations.

Its one piece design with integral grating means it is not vulnerable to vandalism or loosening.Rodding Access units and the universal Sump unitensure easy maintenance.

It is a product especially recommended to be used in schools where children play due to itsmonoblock composition it has no removable partswhich could lead to injury.

Its Load Class C 250 certification means it can bedeployed in a wide number of locations wherelight vehicle traffic can be expected.

Its unique colouring means it can either beunobtrusively blended with its surroundings - e.g.coloured as the adjoining pavement - or used as amarker or even signage e.g. coloured white oryellow to mark roads. The colour is maintained, no rubbing off or being dissolved.

It is compatible with all types of paving materials,and the flat sides enable pavements to be laiddirectly to the unit’s edge.

SITEWORK INSTALLATION

1.0 Ground Conditions

The customer should ensure thatthe minimum dimensions shownare suitable for the existingground conditions. Engineeringadvice may be necessary.

2.0 Block Pavements

The channel must be supportedlaterally and therefore blocksmust be restrained frommovement by bedding securelye.g. by using a Polymer ModifiedMortar for bed and perpendicularjoints (for example RONAFIXMortar Mix C from Ronacrete: Tel01279 638 700). Engineeringadvice may be required.

3.0 Surface Cracks

Alternate crack control andmovement joints transverselywithin bed and haunch mayreduce unsightly surface cracking.

4.0 Joint Sealant

Where ACO Drain channel jointsand fittings are to be sealed(where used in foul waterapplications or whereimpermeability is required)contact a sealant specialist forguidance on the most appropriatesealing compound to use.

5.0 Surface Protection

In asphalt pavements avoidcontact between compactionequipment and channel/grating. This may be achieved by ensuringthat the finished surface level liesabove the grating level (by atleast 3mm) Stones should beremoved prior to laying/rollingwearing course.

Model Specification ClauseThe surface drainage system shall be as ACO ParkDrain® channels as supplied by ACOTechnologies plc; all materials and componentswithin the scope of this system shall be obtainedfrom this manufacturer. The system shall becertified to BS EN 1433:2002 Load Class C 250 andBS EN 124:1994 for the access and gully unitcovers; load test certificates shall be supplied to theSupervising Officer.

The system shall be of units 500mm long, 100mmnominal internal width, 150mm external width,one piece manufacture in polyester resin concrete,with integral resin concrete grating featuring 8mmwide downward flared inlet slots to ACO registeredpattern providing a minimum inlet area of18,300mm2 per metre.

The standard units shall be installed with themanufacturers level invert and transitional slopinginvert units, rodding access, sump and accessoriesas required for the scheme.

The system shall be installed in accordance withthe manufacturer’s printed recommendations, andthe work carried out as specified on theSupervising Officer’s drawing no.* and inaccordance with recognised good practice.Standards of workmanship shall generally be asspecified in BS EN 752:2008 and BS 8000:Part14:1989.
