ADVANCED ETHERNET TRANSPORT

GPON is a standards-based, smart and secure Layer 2 solution that does not alter your Layer 3 topology and its command and control infrastructure. GPON meshes seamlessly with your existing IT architecture and its management and monitoring systems.

VOICE, VIDEO, AND DATA FUSION

Through wavelength-division multiplexing, GPON is able to fuse IP and Analog Voice, IP and RF Video (Broadcast), and IP Data into a single fiber transport. This information fusion supports single or multiple data sources and networks.

PASSIVE INFORMATION DISTRIBUTION

GPON is based on a long-distance, passive, point-to-multi-point, signal-distribution strategy that completely eliminates the need for riser closets between the data source and its destination. Through fiber-to-standard media conversion at the destination, all voice, video, and data information is delivered to users via RJ-11, RJ-45, and RG-6 connectors.

ADVANCED BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION

GPON supplies a dynamic bandwidth-signal distribution capable of delivering the same information from a single fiber to 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64 endpoints. Through our advanced bandwidth-allocation tool, we are able to perform detailed client-bandwidth-needs analysis, thereby providing an adequate and scalable throughput per endpoint.

SPACE, WEIGHT, AND POWER SAVINGS

Since GPON replaces copper as a low-power signal-distribution transport, it eliminates the space required to house workgroup switches in the riser closets of the building. In fact, removing the switches effectively reduces or eliminates altogether the need for the riser closet. Plus, replacing copper cables with fiber also reduces literally tons of weight from the facility’s structure. And because GPON does not require power to operate switches or the energy-draining air conditioning to keep them within their operating temperature, it also achieves great power savings.

INFORMATION SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS

GPON is capable of furnishing 128-bit AES encryption within the second layer of the ISO reference model. It also offers a series of features that have made it the preferred technology for critical deploy-ments within the Department of Defense and the Federal Government.

CONSIDERABLE SUSTAINABILITY BENEFITS

GPON is a Green solution that makes point opportunities available in five of the seven LEED categories. It can also provide additional Green benefits on a regional basis.

GPON typically achieves up to 50% savings in installation costs and up to 70% savings in operational costs. Cost savings increase in relation to the increase in density of the IP points required within a facility.
