Club Members,
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far. Check out the rest of the newsletter for upcoming shows. Get well wishes for all of our members that have been ill, hoping to see that you all make a speedy recovery. It’s almost time for the Club Picnic. Mark your calendar for Sept. 20, see below for details. This annual event is for all members and their families and a day of fun for all. The Veteran’s Show is not too far off and we need to start collecting trophy sponsors and raffle items. As always we need your help and support to be successful. We have purchased t-shirts, sweatshirts and zippered jackets and they are available for purchase every Friday night at the trailer.

Andrew Jeffries Trophy wins. First a story about the first one which was won, (Bad Luck Trophy), by having a small fire in the wires on the engine on the way to a rescheduled Fathers Day Show from June 21st to July 11th at the Kent Island High School. I had the car towed to my house and continued to the show in my 1988 4 Runner. The second one is from the All Fords Show at Bob Bell on July 18th .

On July 2, 2015 Bryan Jones received a call from Wayne Gerst concerning a lovely couple in need of finding a good home for their 1973 Plymouth Valiant that they have owned since March 3, 1997.Well, Wayne made the deal the same day and Terry and IBryan were proud new owners of Tom and Sarah Totushek Jr’s 4-door Valiant. They went to Wayne’s house the next day to pick it up and it had a full tank of gas, AC, Power steering, Power breaks, like new enterer, a bench seat with bucket seat backs, a wonderful slant six and only 64,699 miles on him. Terry’s parents had on back in the day and she remembers riding in it very well and also taking it to OC for some fun in the sun. Terry has named the new member of our family“Prince Valiant” and you will see them at upcoming car shows soon. Just a little foot note that “Prince Valiant” is in the body shop being gone over for a perfect like new body and will be painted his original same light blue color.
BRYAN JONES Sunday, July 26th, 2015 I was at the Meadowood
Regional Park 12th annual All Makes Vehicle
Show with my 1973 Plymouth Valiant that was just bought from
Tom and Sarah Totushek Jr’s. This was the first show with the Valiant and it received a nice
trophy plaque for top 35 Judges Award out of 110
vehicles attending .

JOHN MAYOLAJohn started racing at Westport in 1958. He bought his first car for $50.00. In 1960 John won 10 heats in a row. John never got hurt but did roll his car over once at Westport and once at Dorsey.
9
John’s name appears on theLiving Legends of Auto Racing Memorial Brick Walk of Fame in Daytona Shores, Florida. The Walk features inscribed bricks honoring the pioneers of auto racing.
John was good friends with Johnny Roberts. He met him in 1960 and John won the Dorsey Championship in 1963. In 1964 Johnny asked John to drive for him. John said Johnny was a good guy and a clean driver. There’s a Johnny Roberts Memorial in Hagerstown.
Shirley says their kids were raised at the tracks. In diapers, bottles, the stroller: that’s where we went. We had a van. We used to pile the kids in the van and go up either Hagerstown or Susquehanna on Sundays.
