Food Lighting The way that food products are marketed has been

transformed and become more sophisticated over the years.

Nowadays the end consumer weighs up both the product and the

shopping space with a critical eye.

The right lighting is crucial in this aspect.

When lighting food products, the choice involves two aspects:

providing the best conditions for conservation/food safety and being

able to show consumers the best qualities of the fresh produce,

highlighting characteristics, pleasant appearance,

colour, texture, etc.

Careful lighting can directly boost sales

if it manages to put across this perception of quality

to the customer.

NEXIA is developing its Food Lighting range by offering a speciic LED product for lighting:

Bread / Cakes: It reinforces the appeal of golden and yellow tones. It reduces deterioration because it does not get hot and affect the dairy ingredients in many of these products. Meat / Deli counter: It improves appearance by strengthening red and pinkish tones. The lack of heat means the cutting area does not deteriorate. Fish / Seafood: It makes them look fresher by strengthening blue and silvery tones. Scale texture is reinforced; the product looks freshly-caught. Fruit / Vegetables: It improves their features and the perception of freshness.The lighting highlights their texture and shine and reproduces the colour of the fruit and vegetables on display in an appealing way.

Food Lighting using the NEXIA Food Lighting range, itted with the latest LED technology, highlights the products’ qualities and protects them from heat load and consequent bacteriological deterioration.

Most of the luminaries of our program products incorporate LED technology COB:

The COB acronym based on “Chip on board” and is deined as a set of LEDs grouped in series and / or

parallel within the encapsulated.

The COB technology used in NEXIA:

1. Ensures colour uniformity (3 Steps McAdam), which means no noticeable colour differences between LEDs

of different headings.

2. NEXIA maintains its constant luminous lux regardless of improvements in the power consumed by the

luminaire.

3. Allows luminous eficiencies up 140 lumens/watt at the actual operating temperature of the LED, this

eficiency value increases constantly.

4. Ensure good control of different photometric light curves allowing luminaires, by designing suitable

optics.

5. Provides lexibility in the choice of colour temperature and colour rendering index.

6. Allows a good glare control.

7. Avoid pixelation that occurs with SMD technology.

8. Most of our luminaires equipped with LED COB are classiied as L80B20 about life. This nomenclature

which deines the end of life of a LED is considered. L80 deines the LEDs, at the end of its useful life, they

will give 80 % of its initial lux. B20 is a statistical value indicating the percentage of LEDs that will be

below the set value in the parameter L. Overall interpret L80B20 as the end of its useful life, 20 % of the

LEDs (B20) will be below 80 % of its initial low (L80), the 80 % remaining above 80 % of the low initial.

Attentive and agile in incorporating the latest LED technology as well as all innovations

available in the market to respond with products that reach very ambitious heights in terms of

technique and aesthetics.

In NEXIA we distinguish three types of recessed luminairesin function of the LED technology used:








On one hand COB LED under recognized technology that concentrates a wide range of recessed downlights technique. Stand out in this category DRAC or PULL OUT as key to undertake projects where lighting requires an excellent level of visual comfort and the best light rigor, without forgetting aspects such as efficiency, diversity of optical or the choice Photometric flows from 1500 lm up in some cases, 5000 lm.

Another group of downlights are those that are equipped with SMD LED combined with excellent heat dissipation and ensures that extends LED life and are characterized by a minimum height of embedment; HUT in this category are located in three steps, PRO_FLAT and PRO_SQ. Use this range when the project needs take precedence uniformity and excellent performance.

Finally in a third group we classified all those downlighters that are equipped with LED MODULE. The module is a great alternative to replace other inefficient conventional light sources in the installed base, LED easily converting any facility to be equipped with less efficient lamps such as dichroic lamps QR-111 or GU10 lamp. Use equipped with LED MODULE in your projects luminaries, is the best choice and surpasses in quality and comfort any LED lamp also allows you to select Photometric packages up to 1.800 lm guaranteeing light quality, performance, breadth of range and choice of opening angle of the light beam.

wide range of models that multiply the options when designing general lighting in a space. INOX S is the smaller version of the luminaire. S of small, pieces in aluminum harboring within it a module LED luminaire that can choose between fixed or swivel, round or square aesthetics

three opening angles and lighting flux from 560 lm to 1200 lm. The INOX L as its name indicates large L allows to stay inside of the LED COB family and still

offer more options for luminous flux and Colour temperature selection. In addition to the range of INOX L is available especially for food and fashion (Food Lighting y Retail Lighting).

INSTALLATION RECOMMENDATIONS LED STRIPS

1. Environment temperature - 20 + 40 ˚C. Make sure that the

strips aren’t subject to exteernal heat sources or direct sunlight.

2. During the handling strips should never pass 2 cm radius of

curvature and should never stand any mechanical stress.

3. Although the strips are supplied with tape very high perfor-

mance, it’s advisable to strengthen the installation with staples

distributed every 50 cm.

4. Sections strips can be connected one after the other, but they

should never exceed the distance of 15 m (10 m. strips in high

power LED strips).

5. The maximum distance from the converter to the strips is

given by the section of the cable used, it must never exceed

the 2 V voltage drop in the conductor between the strip or bet-

ween the LED strips and the converters section in mm2 (S) of

cable required is determined by the formula:

S = 2r.L.I / ∆ V where r is the resistivity (Cu 0.017), L is the lenght in meters of the line, I the current in ampe-res and V the maximum allowable voltage drop. This information is available in our web site: www.nexia.es

6. The converters must contemplate the losses in distribution, is to oversize the power of these by 20 % to cover the losses.

7. The installation of all the strips should be in an environment that facilitates its ventilation and on a surface to facilitate heat dissipation, in strips should be performed on power dissipation aluminum proile NEXIA, verifying proper mechanical connection of the strip with the proile, the breach of this condition void the terms of the warranty.

8. In all STRIP installation, control elements: converters, ampli-ier, regulator, etc. should be provided by NEXIA ILUMINACIÓN, S.L. In the event that the product be damaged in use with other control elements, NEXIA ILUMINACIÓN, S.L. can cancel the pro-duct warranty.

GENERAL CONCEPTS OF LIGHTING

LUMENThe lumen (lm) is the unit that measures the luminous flux, a measurement of the luminous output emitted by thesource. The luminous flux is the measurement of total luminous output emitted by a lamp and that is perceived by the human eye. The luminous intensity measure how much brightness the beam has in a specific direction.

LUXThe Lux (lx) is the unit that measures the degree of illumination taking a specific point as the reference. The Lux can also be defined as no of lumens/m2. The difference between the lux and the lumen lies in that fact that the lux takes into account the surface over which the luminous flux is distributed. 1000 lumens concentrated over a square meter illuminate this surface with 1000 lux. The same one thousand lumens distributed over 10 square meters, only produce illuminance of 100 lux. In other words, illuminating a bigger area with the same degree of lux requires a greater number of lumens.

CANDELAThe candela (cd) measures the intensity or concentration of light in a specific direction, radiated per second.The luminous intensity can be defined as: The luminous flux in a given direction, radiated per unit of solid angle.1 candela = 1 lumen/steradian

CRIColour rendering index (CRI) is a quantitative measure of the ability of a light source to reveal the colours of various objects faithfully in comparison with an ideal or natural light source which represents the ideal of fidelity at a 100 % -.

PHASE CUTPhase control (PFC), also called phase cutting, is a method of pulse-width modulation for power limiting, applied to AC voltages. It works by modulating a thyristor, silicon-controlled rectifier, triode for alternating current, thyra-tron, or other such gated diode-like devices into and out of conduction at a predetermined phase of the applied waveform.

PUSH DIMSo called as the only control required is a push-to-make switch, is also known as Touch Dimming. No ‘standard’ exists, so various wiring methods exists depending on the driver/ballast manufacturer. Needs standard mains wiring plus either one or two extra wires (depending upon driver/ballast variant).

DALIDALI enables equipment from different manufacturers to be connected together. DALI network consists of a controller and one or more lighting devices that have DALI interfaces. The controller can monitor and control each light’s intensity providing up to 256 levels of brightness between 0-100 %. Wireless extension is available for DALI network.

DSITo optimise the energy consumption of extensive groups of luminaires, for example in sports stadiums or factories,there are solutions based on the modularDIM system and the DSI digital interface. The attractive functions of a DSIlighting management system include simple programming of scenes and the option of common routing of the control line and mains power supply cabling in one duct. Digital transmission means no problems of interference and an identical dimming value for all the luminaires.

COLOUR TEMPERATUREThe colour temperature from a light Source is measured in degrees Kelvin (K) Colour temperatures over 5000 K areknown as cold colours (blue-white) while temperatures between 2700 and 3000 K are considered as warm colours.

UGRUGR is a scale that unifies different glare evaluation methods. The UGR describes subjective perception in measurable terms considering the potential glare of all the luminaries located within the observer’s field of vision.The ratings oscillate between 10 and 30, where 10 means “no glare” and 30 means “discomfort glare”. The UGR value is not a characteristic of the luminaire itself, but of the complete installation, for what we calculated the UGR values stated in oucatalogue based on a common standard installation. We recommend the calculation of the UGR in your installation in practice to assure the desired UGR value.

WARRANTIES AND COMPLAINTSComplaints regarding the quantity and / or quality of goods will not be accepted more than 8 days after goods have been received.NEXIA ILUMINACIÓN S.L. guarantees that its manufactured products will work correctly. This warranty covers repair and / or repositioning (according to NEXIA’s decision) for light ittings against all manufacturing defects for 2 years except for LED products that have: a 3 year warranty for LED SMD, 4 years for LED modules and 5 years for the LED COB.Should a certain model experience problems and the same model is no longer available, due to product technology constantly changing, the manufacturer shall replace it with the most similar model available in terms of both aesthetics and service provision.

This warranty does not cover:1. A product that was installed without following the installation instructions,

abiding by the volumes and protection distances given in the data sheets.2. A product handled by unauthorised personnel.3. If equipment ventilation has been covered or fans have been blocked during

installation.4. if excess dust suspended in the atmosphere (very intense) has blocked the

cooling.5. Non compliance with LVD in the installation or breakdowns caused by electrical

discharge due to a current or voltage higher than speciied in the IEC 61000-4 standard.

6. Parts subject to wear, lamps, batteries, etc. (LED modules and fans are excluded from this point),

7. Costs that might be derived from the presumed manufacturing defect, labour costs, assembly / disassembly of products, required mechanical equipment or penalties derived from faulty light ittings.

8. Default in all or part of payment by the customer.

DESTINATION OF GOODSThe customer’s usual warehouses are considered to be the destination of the goods. Any destination for goods other than the customer warehouse should be previously agreed with NEXIA and in any case, the customer should assume any possible price difference derived from the change in destination.

TRANSPORTThroughout the mainland and for orders over 300 Euro net, shipping will be charged to NEXIA ILUMINACIÓN, S.L.,performed by our regular transport.In the event that transport is designated by the purchaser, this transport will be charged to them even when the order is over the stipulated amount.Goods always travel at the purchaser’s own risk, even in the event that shipping is paid by NEXIA ILUMINACIÓN S.L., consequently, in the event of breakages during transport, the customer should make the appropriate claim to the transport agency within the deadline stipulated by the company.

RETURNSReturns will not be accepted on goods beyond 30 days after the invoice date. All returns should be previously authorised by NEXIA ILUMINACIÓN S.L., and will not be accepted if their corresponding authorisation number is not attached.Returns should be made with shipping pre-paid, except for returns caused by quality defects or errors that can be attributed to NEXIA ILUMINACIÓN S.L. When the goods are in our possession and depending on their condition, we will set the depreciation to be applied: at least 10 % in terms of checking, change of packaging and repair torestore to sales conditions.
