New York Jazz Workshop, LLC ‐ Toll Free phone: 888‐690‐5299 ‐ International Callers 917‐340‐0270 Web: www.newyorkjazzworkshop.com email: [email protected] New York Jazz Workshop @ Bogagizi University Our faculty and staff was carefully selected based on their professionalism, their high level of artistry, and their ability to connect with students on a personal level. ‐ Improvisation Workshop: MARC MOMMAAS, saxophone and composition ‐ Rhythm Workshop: TONY MORENO, drums and percussion ‐ Guitar Workshop: KENNY WESSEL, guitar ‐ Vocal Workshop: FAY VICTOR, vocal ‐ Floating* NIKOLAJ HESS, piano ‐ Floating* ANDREA VENEZIANI, bass ‐ Event Coordinator : Marco Chelo *Floating: Mr. Hess and Mr. Veneziani will move from one workshop to the next to support students by adding strength and expertise in the rhythm section. Mr. Hess is part of our faculty, but he is also a professor at the Copenhagen Conservatory and part of the exchange faculty of the New School in NYC. Mr. Veneziani teaches two of our regular workshops all year around, the Modern Jazz Workshop and the Bebop Workshop. The role of the event coordinator/ project manager will be to ensure a more professional and cohesive experience. The coordinator’s duties will include: Interfacing between teachers and the university, making sure that all workshops are set up correctly, taking student attendance, and organizing all technical and administrative aspects of the program. This faculty is prepared to perform a concert in order to promote the workshop, either at a jazz club of your preference, or at the university. The faculty band is comprised of a complete rhythm section plus as a front line vocals and tenor saxophone. Biographies: MARC MOMMAAS – Saxophonist, Composer Improvisation Workshop Marc Mommaas comes from an artistic background. His mother is an opera singer/pianist and his father a well‐known painter in the Dutch art scene. During Marc’s study in Amsterdam, he combined his musical development with a university education (Masters in Comm.Science/Business). After being awarded with two Dutch grants (Stichting Podium Kunsten, Prins Bernard Fonds Anjer Fondsen) in 1997,
