Usually the first week or two of a New Year pass by without much in the way of news or controversy in the legal world. Most lawyers are returning from their festive break to a full inbox or groaning filing cabinet and are keen to clear the decks and resume normal service. This year, however, we have already witnessed the unprecedented events of 6th January and seen the rather disappointing results of the Judicial Review into QASA. The first quarter of 2014 has started with a bang, it seems. There are challenging times ahead for the Bar and Solicitors alike, but One Paper Buildings face the future optimistic that we will make the most of the opportunities change can afford. This edition brings together articles on Pre-Nuptial agreements, Fraud, Sexual Offences, Questioning child witnesses, and a Case in Focus on taking non-intimate DNA samples from former prisoners to add to our regular and highly popular Proceeds of Crime Act update.
