We will also be reviewing and comparing fiction and non-fiction texts. Writer’s Workshop We are working on writing an “All About…” story teaching others all about a specific topic. We will be writing an animal report by combining our Science and Writing to share facts about a specific animal. We will be incorporating non- fiction text features such as headings and labels in our illustrations to add details to our writing. Math We are working on fractions ( ½ and ¼) and how to divide a shape into those equal parts. Please continue to work on addition and subtraction equations to and from 20. Phonics We are working on Character Word of the Month : Service Service means to lend a hand to help someone else. Parents – Be a good role model to teach how to show service to others. Discussing saying a kind word or helping a neighbor or friend do something are some ways to show service . Upcoming Events: Feb 4-8 – National School Counseling Week Feb 11-12 – Winter Break – no school Feb 14 – Valentine’s Day (your child’s teacher will get a class list to you) Feb 21 – Literacy Night 6-8 (more info to come) Parents please make sure you are still working with your child DAILY on their reading and math fluency. ScienceWe are reviewing light and sound and then we will begin to learn about animals. We will learn how to identify different types of animals as well as learn what animals need.
