The representatives of 7 partner schools met in the beginning of October in Sundby, Finland. Teachers and head teach- ers from Cyprus, France, Spain, Poland, Italy and The Netherlands were welcomed in the Town Hall in Pedersöre on Wednesday the 5th.They were given a presentation about the Finnish school system and the laws on children with special edu- cational needs within the system. Several schools that spe- cialized in children with educational needs were visited. Amongst them “Snäckan” kindergarten. This school specialises in helping children with hearing disabilities, whilst integrating them fully with children without spe- cial needs. Thursday they first paid a visit to the finnish part- nerschool in Sundby and Backby school. The child- ren prepared songs and dances and gave a specta- culair show. In the afternoon Sursik Upper secondary school was on the program with a tour and a lecture about the finnish secondary school system. In the early evening we paid a visit to the arctic museum in Jacobstad, named Nanoq. The foun- der of the museum, the arctic explorer Pentti Kronqvist , gave us a very interesting tour. The museum is built and maintained by volunteers only. Everyone was ama- zed with the houses and artifacts they saw. The stories our guide told us made come alive to all of us. Friday morning a meeting was held in the hotel. Plans were discussed, eva- luations made and the contract was “signed. Later we visited a local shipyard. Saturday we attende a lecture on the teachers university in Vaasa and some local sightseeing. Some pictures from Fin- land. Logo competition in all countries In all countries the logo competition has started. All students are trying their best to design a logo for the project. The design has to be their own work and will be jud- ged on creativity and usi- bilaty and if it expresses the meaning of our pro- ject. All countries will take their 3 best logo’s to Po- land , where an internatio- nal children’s jury will pick the winner. They are the representati- ves from Hollland, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal and host Poland. The winner will be used in the blog, newsletter and all publications of the pro- ject.
