THE JULY SOCIAL

Bassano’s always draws a good crowd for the BAC social, and the July social was no exception. If I counted right there were 33 of us enjoying pizzas, pastas, salads and a bit of vino. Next month we go to Elgin. The August social will be on the 19th at 6:00 at Jalisco’s on Hwy 290 behind

O’Reilly’s Auto Parts. Plan to be there when we dig into some good Mexican food.

Barbara Baker models the front of the club

social shirt. While…….

Gary Baker models the

back. Paul visits with Pancho, undoubtedly the

hardest worker that Bassano’s has

McDADE WATERMELON FEST AND CAR SHOW

From Janie Amescua: We had 93 registered participants. The weather (for us in McDade) was A-OK. We had lots of new participants—it really pays to get out there with those flyers and to update web car show listings. We had a good response from flyers passed out in Bellville at their spring show. Thank you to our sponsors, including Dale Olson Surveying (Dale and Peggy Olson). Sponsors make a difference in our budgeting efforts to continue providing a “free registration” show. A great big Thank You to BAC members serving as judges this year: Bruce Mungiguerra, Roland Damari, Mark Lisle, Bill Dodge, and Robert Noah. These guys go above and beyond—they are willing to “train” new judges and take on extra categories as necessary. Thank you also to Robert Noah for taking time to visit with a couple from Bastrop that were interested in BAC. BAC members participating with their vehicles: Bill Dodge, ‘67 Mustang (1st place trophy) Robin Duncan, ‘67 Mustang Roland Damari, ‘66 Corvette (3rd place trophy) Roger Payne, ‘86 El Camino Andy Amescua, ‘57 Isetta Jim Kennedy, ‘55 Chevy Robert Noah, ‘27 Ford Roadster (3rd place trophy) Juan Sanchez, ‘23 Ford T-bucket Mark Lisle, ‘90 Mustang (2nd place trophy) As we really get busy at the show, it’s hard to see all the BAC visitors, but I did see Ronnie and Paul Burt, Patricia and Rick Shelley, and Jarrett Thompson and his “Rosanky Swap Meet” crew. Thank you for coming over to

McDade.

This year’s 4th of July celebration was enjoyed by many of the BAC members and guests. And this year, NO RAIN, although admittedly, that was part of the fun memories from last year. The Hyatt guests enjoyed looking at the classic cars and the members enjoyed showing them off. The BBQ was great, and the fireworks display was as spectacular as always. Every day is a good day to be an American, but on the 4th it’s an especially good day to celebrate the reason we live in this great Independent country. Thanks to the Hyatt management for allowing BAC to once again participate in the

celebration with them.

OUR MAN IN TOKYO

Hi there from the BAC Japan Chapter! Here are some photos to share. The older Mercedes and the Mustang were on the streets in New York City. The owner was detailing his Mustang as we walked by. It was a beautiful car, and highly detailed. We also attended an unveiling of the newest Jaguar model. We all might remember that Jaguar debuted the F type coupes at Lost Pines and the Formula One Track 3 years ago. Here in Tokyo the entire light show and live performances preceded everyone coming to the stage. The brand events here are highly impactful in design and expectation. The chrome looking car in the display is a Harrier, which is a model of Lexus here in Japan.

Our best to all. It is always fun to share! Barb and Steve

Where else in NYC can you detail your car?

Meanwhile, somewhere in Cannes, France (You think Steve needs to get out of the

office more? Poor guy.)

THIS AND THAT

NEW MEMBER

Another young woman has joined the BAC. Joining last month is Sugar Sanchez. Sugar is the daughter of members Juan and Michelle Sanchez. Nice to have you with us, Sugar. CAR SHOW NEWS

Three more months and the Veteran’s Day Car Show will be underway. A meeting was held in July to bring committee members up to date. We are still asking everyone to approach any one you might know who would like to contribute a door prize (doesn’t have to be car related), or who would like to sponsor a trophy. Remember to

remind people that the show is to benefit our veterans and every bit helps toward that goal.

You can contact Bruce Sears at [email protected] or 210-589-9091. Next car show meeting is Monday, August 10, 6:00 p.m. at LaCabana.

DO YOU JUST BELONG?

The following was submitted by a long time BAC member who wishes to remain anonymous. It seemed appropriate to put it under the car show meeting news. Are you an active member, the kind that would be missed? Or are you just content that your name is on a list? Do you attend the meetings and mingle with the flock? Or do you meet in private to criticize and knock? Do you take an active part to help the work along? Or are you satisfied to be the kind who just wants to belong? So come to meetings with helping hands and heart.. Do Not be just a member, but take an active part! Anonymous

SHOW ‘N SHINE

The next show ‘n shine will be Saturday, August 8 starting around 6:00. If you’d like to take your car to show and/or shine, meet in the Lost Pines 8 Theater parking lot at the intersection of Loop 150 and 95. BREAKFAST AT JALISCO’S

If you’d like to meet up with fellow members for breakfast, head to Jalisco’s across from The Colony at 9:00 on Tuesday, August 11. The breakfast will be the Tuesday following the general meeting each month. Watch the newsletter calendar for future dates.

SPEAKING OF BREAKFAST…. Gary Litynsky and Janet Elliot who were responsible for suggesting the monthly breakfast have recently moved to

California. We wish them well in their new adventure.

FOR SALE Don’t forget that you can use this space to advertise car related items for sale. No charge. If you need to sell some-thing sooner than when the newsletter goes out, send it to me and I’ll send it out to the club members. THANK YOU Thanks from me to Nancy Matocha, Pam Whittaker, and Steve Dewire for the photos, and to Janie Amescua for the McDade information appearing in this month’s newsletter. Any one can share photos or items of interest here, so

please send photos or articles to [email protected]. They are very much appreciated.
