Luke and Laura Wycliffe Bible Translators After four months of linguistic training at Wycliffe HQ, we’re packing up our stuff and preparing to drive back to Crewe for Christmas! It has been a gruelling period of study and we are both looking forward to a chance to rest with friends and family. We have learnt so much that will be invaluable to our work in Papua Home and Away… Winter 2011 New Guinea. It was also a huge privilege to study alongside folks who have made and continue to make big sacrifices to translate God’s Word. You can see some of our class above. We have just one month at home before we fly (19 th Jan), so it will be a very busy for us as we try to decide what will make it into our cases and what will be left behind! We also need to get into shape as we’ve spent little time away from a desk over the past few months! The 15 th of January is our commissioning service, which will sadly be our last chance to see many of you. We really value your support and prayers as you stand with us. Points for praise: We have received our visas! The procedure was really straightforward and has been quite a surprise to others who have applied in the past. Luke’s thumb is mending well – ahead of schedule! Our support team has continued to grow and it looks likely that we will reach our required target. Points for prayer: Strength as we say ‘goodbye’ to loved ones for two years. We have quite a lot to buy before we go! Pray that we would find the right things at the right price. Many things are not available in PNG Our 14-week Orientation Course in PNG. We will be hiking and swimming, learning to cook and live in the jungle. We will also be learning the national language alongside a host of other ‘green’ missionaries.
