Honey Bees is a group for children aged 0 to 5 years who have a disability, developmental delay, medical condition, autism

or additional needs . Sessions are run by Portage and Early Bird Plus trained staff who have experience of working with

children with additional needs.

COAST is a support and information group for families of children with an autism diagnosis, or those awaiting one. We meet on a regular basis in Swindon, and invite speakers to talk about key issues affecting children with autism and to engage in facilitated discussions. Our sessions are friendly and open to all. We provide an opportunity to meet others in the same situation and offer both practical and emotional support.

The Walking Group

The Walking Group is free and meets at 10.30 on a Wednesday morning during the holidays in the

car park at Stanton park. The child or young person must be

accompanied by their parent or carer who will re-main responsible for them throughout the walk.

Sendiass continues to support parents, carers and young people with many aspects of securing the best possible educational provision. As the needs in Swindon continue to expand we are seeking new ways to meet this grow-ing demand. New for September 2019 Drop in sessions and would be happy to hear from schools or groups of par-ents if you would like us to provide any bespoke sessions on particular topics. Starting volunteer training with a view to maximise all your skills to help us. We would love to hear from you and you can contact us on the volunteering link on the website. Disability Sport Swindon is a website for all sports activities for people with disabilities Swindon champions, in partnership with other disability sports clubs and Swindon Borough Council, want to ensure that information is accessible to every person with a disability, parents and carers so that they can see the excellent sporting offer in Swindon. The Special Olympics is the ‘third arm’ of the Olympics organisation, along with the Olympics and Paralympics, and is dedicated to enhancing the lives of those with a Learning Disability through training and competition in various sports. Swindon is now an accredited branch of

the Special Olympics programme, and can now start sending athletes to competitions. Swindon Special Olympics currently provides sport opportunities in football, tennis, boccia and athletics.

Aiming High also run specialist activity groups for disabled children throughout the year and in most school holidays. These groups are for children who have higher levels of need and may struggle to access other activities in the Newsletter. If you would like to discuss whether there may be a suitable group for your child, please contact your child’s Social Worker or an Inclusion & Outreach Worker on: 01793 464080 or email: [email protected] Decisions about services are based upon the needs of the child and every effort is made to ensure that there is a fair distribution of services for all disabled children.

Structured activity based sessions run by qualified youth workers using a mix of discussion, role play and games, concentrating on the development of social and communication skills and team working through therapeutic activity, games, art, music and cooking.
