Newsletter Term 3 Week 7 2020 What’s Happening? Friday, 4th September: Stage 3 Public Speaking Happy Father’s Day to all our Dads & Pops for Sunday! Aussies of the Month 3rd September 2020 Principal’s Message Kindergarten 2021 Enrolment Forms are now due! We are now at that stage of the year where planning for 2021 begins. If any CPS parents have Kindergarten enrolment forms, it would be greatly appreciated if you could send these into the office so that we can add your child’s details to our Kindergarten list, and the organisation of classes can begin. If you have a child starting school in 2021 and have not yet completed an enrolment form, please contact the office on 63422400 to organise your enrolment pack. Mrs McFarland and Billy the Platypus visited 2021 Kindergarten students at Good Start Early Learning Centre yesterday. Pre-school visits to Yalbillinga, Nurture One and Carinya are also scheduled over the next few weeks. Indigenous Literacy Day! On Wednesday we celebrated Indigenous Literacy Day. This year classes had the opportunity to watch a national, virtual YouTube Live Premiere event for a celebration of Indigenous language and literacy. In previous years, this celebration has taken place at Sydney Opera House with children from remote communities, local schools, Indigenous Literacy Foundation ambassadors and supporters, however this year, due to COVID-19, the event was open for the first time to everyone Australia-wide. Father’s Day Stall This week the P&C hosted the annual Father’s Day Stall. Children were able to purchase a special gift for Dad or Pop, with gifts ranging in price from $2 to $10. I hope all our dads and pops have a wonderful day on Sunday and enjoy being spoilt by their children! AECG Meeting Just a reminder, the next Cowra Local AECG Meeting will be held next Monday 7th September at 2pm via Zoom. The Zoom link is: Meeting ID: 654 9150 8335. Passcode: AECG. All families are welcome. Band Update Following the latest Covid guidelines on band lessons, Mrs Wright will be creating video tutorials for all band students each Tuesday morning. These tutorials will be uploaded to the “Band” Google Classroom which all Band students accessed during the “Learning At Home” period in Term 1 and 2, on Tuesday afternoons. Students are encouraged to continuing practicing by accessing the tutorials, until such time as band lessons can resume face-to- face. Thank you to Mrs Wright for ensuring our band program continues despite these restrictions. Kindergarten Enrolments We are now accepting enrolments for Kindergarten 2021. If you know of any families with a child

looking to start Kinder next year, please encourage them to call the school to discuss our

enrolment procedures. It is important to note that a new enrolment policy has been put in place

this year in all NSW Public Schools, and school enrolment zones are now in place. We are happy to

answer any questions parents may have about their child starting school in 2021. If you have any

questions about enrolling at our school, please call the office on 63422400.

Book Week & Book Fair 2020

Book Week is coming….Week 10, Term 3

Theme: Curious Creatures, Wild Minds

Dress Up Parade: As part of our Book Week celebrations we will be

having a dress up parade where children are invited to come

dressed as their favourite character from a book or dressed as

something related to the Book Week theme which this year is

Curious Creatures, Wild Minds. The children will all be briefed on this

during library lessons and warned not to ask for a costume the night

before the parade! Curious creatures is a wonderful theme which

enables students to be creative and create any kind of costume they like! Unfortunately due to

current Departmental Covid restrictions we will not be able to conduct our traditional book week

parade down the main street but we are working on a virtual alternative. The actual date will be

advised as soon as possible.

Book Fair: We are also holding our tradition Scholastic Book Fair in Week 9&10. Books are provided

for sale by Scholastic and the library earns a commission for each book purchased which we use

to purchase items that directly benefit students. This year, parents will not be able to attend the

library for purchases so all purchases must be made by students.
