Mrs Dyson and her Art Group have worked hard all year to design and produce unique artworks which demonstrate the students’ skills in this area. Each year the students display their artworks in the exhibition space located in Shellharbour village. The students learnt so much from this experience, not only the artist skills but skills in perseverance and resilience when techniques did not go as they once thought they might. As part of an excursion, all classes visited the art space to view and read about the students artworks. We are so proud of the students’ achievements. We would like to thank Mrs Dyson, Mrs Baxendale and Mrs McCann for their hard work and dedication in making this come to life. As the end of the year is fast approaching, the school will be looking at classes for 2020. If you know that you will be no longer with us in 2020, could you please let the school office or your classroom teacher know at your earliest possible convenience. This should ensure that the structures of the school can be as accurate as possible.

As part of the celebration day for Term Three, the students participated in the Ninja Warrior course. The students had a great time moving along the obstacle course. Although it was a competition, all students participated with a huge smile on their face. The Year 6 Ninja Warrior crew were spectacular. They were encouraging and supportive of each and every student who participated. They were a credit to themselves, their teachers and the school as a whole. Another special thank you to Mrs Dorrian who organised the day. It is a huge effort that does not go unnoticed. A special assembly was held for the announcement and presentation of trophies for the winners of each stage as follows:

Early Stage One – Kindergarten – JT Schuster

Stage One – Year 1 and Year 2 – Aston Lewis

Stage Two – Year 3 and Year 4 – Quincy Crockford

Stage Three – Year 5 and Year 6 – Yasar Hoosen

Yasar also took out the fastest time overall

Schools can be busy places before and after school. There are often a lot of people all trying to cross the road at the same time. The Addison Street and Mary Street entrances have a crossing guard before and after school to ensure the safety of students. As some students do not have an adult who walks them across the road, the crossing person helps all people. If you are approaching the crossing with your child or you have a child that uses the crossing can you please speak to them about the safe use of these spaces.

• At each crossing there is a yellow line on each side of the road. We ask all people wanting to cross the road to remain behind the yellow line.

• The crossing guard will walk to the middle of the crossing. • When it is safe and they have ensured that all traffic has stopped, they will ask the wanting pedestrians to

cross the road. • Please remain on the crossing • Walk across the road from one side to the other • Be mindful of the people crossing the road • If you are riding a bike, dismount from the bike and walk the bike across the road. Do not resume riding the

bike until it is safe to do so.

These rules are designed to keep everyone safe when using the crossing.

To ride on the school bus, students must have a valid Opal Card. Ensure that your child has their Opal Card when they intend to travel on the bus. The bus company has informed us that they will be monitoring the use of Opal Cards over the next couple of weeks. If your child has lost their card or they need to apply for an Opal Card, please visit transportnsw.info/school-students

The next P & C meeting will be held on Wednesday, 13 November 2019 starting at 6.30 pm in the staffroom. All welcome

to attend!

Just a reminder that this Friday, 8 November, the Ministry for Community Service will be having a mufti day where the students are to dress up as a farmer. The students are asked to bring in a gold coin. The proceeds from the day will go to help the community of Trundle. The P & C have kindly decided to match dollar for dollar the donations that are received. If you are able to give generously that would be appreciated. Any donation is welcome.
