National Affairs● 01 Sept - The Ministry of Defence, Government of India has sanctioned construction of a National War Memorial and National War Museum in New Delhi.

● 02 Sept - Rajasthan and Puducherry governments unanimously ratified the Constitution Amendment Bill on Goods and Services Tax (GST) passed by Parliament.

● 03 Sept - The Guinness World Records has declared Majuli in Assam as the largest river island in the world.

● 03 Sept - The Rajasthan High Court launched the e-stamp facility in its Jodhpur and Jaipur benches simultaneously. Rajasthan has become the fourth state in the country to provide the facility.

● 06 Sept - India and Vietnam signed 12 agreements, signalling a strong upward push in their strategic ties in the field of defence, IT, space, double taxation and sharing white shipping information.

● 07 Sept - Tourism Ministry has approved projects worth about Rs 450 crore under Swadesh Darshan scheme for five states, including Uttar Pradesh.

● 07 Sep - United Nations, has included Sanskrit, the most ancient and traditional language of India into its charter.

● 08 Sept - Indian President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent to the GST constitution amendment bill that enables the implementation of this indirect tax reform and the government has managed to close out processes within deadlines, raising expectations that GST will be rolled out on 1 April next year.

● 21 Sept - The rural housing scheme Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY), started by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, has been restructured and renamed as Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY), which would be launched next month.

● 22 Sept - Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off two passengers trains between Bhiwani and Hisar in Haryana.

● 23 Sept - In the backdrop of the continued challenging global environment being faced by Indian exporters, Department of Commerce had extended support to certain new products and enhanced the rate of incentives for certain other specified products under the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS).

● 25 Sept - Tea Board of India and The United Planters Association of Southern India (Upasi) were jointly conducted the India international Tea convention at Ooty in Nilgiris.

● 26 Sept - Rajasthan became the first state to adopt centre’s Street Lighting National Programme (SLNP) in all its urban local bodies (ULB). Almost 5 lakh conventional street lights were replaced with LED street lights across the state.

● 27 Sept - The government decided to suspend Indus water commission talks with Pakistan. This decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to review the Indus Water Treaty (IWT) with Pakistan amid a heightening tension between the two countries.

● 29 Sept - India's army carried out "surgical strikes" against suspected terrorists along the de-facto border with Pakistan in Kashmir. It started around 2.30 am (IST) on Thursday and continued till 8 am (IST) on Thursday. Significant casualties have been caused to terrorists and those trying to shield them.

● 05 Sept - Sri Lankan Prime minister Ranil Wickremsinghe inaugurated the five day long 69th session of WHO (World Health Organisation) Regional committee meeting at Colombo. ● 07 Sept - The union cabinet signed an agreement with Chile to expand the India - Chile Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) which was approved in April which 86 per cent of India’s exports to Chile will get concession.

● 10 Sept - India along with 10 other member countries of WHO’s South-East Asian Regional Committee has decided to set up a dedicated fund in the 69th session of WHO Regional Committee Meeting at Colombo.
