Our War Memorial
With WWI memorial events happening
across the country you may wonder
where is our Village memorial and we
were asked this question recently on
facebook messenger.
Many of you may not be aware but the
church Lych-gate is the Villages
memorial along with a plaque inside
the church. The reason why the dates
on the gate read 1914 & 1919 is that
any death of a serving solider within 12
months of the hostilities was classed as
a war death.
Next time you are passing maybe take
a moment to look up and read the
wording.
BEST KEPT VILLAGE COMPETITION 2014
HIGHER KINNERTON WINS 1ST PRIZE AGAIN!
Following 3 days of intensive judging throughout communities in
Flintshire, the County Council has awarded Higher Kinnerton First Prize

A NEW ROTARY CLUB IN HIGHER KINNERTON
There is a new informal Rotary Group opening up at The Swan as from Tuesday the 2nd September,
meeting each week at 6.30 pm for 7.00 pm.
Being part of Rotary not only creates new friendships but gives great opportunities to help
charities and good causes whether locally or overseas and the new style clubs are totally
different from any Rotary Club you will have heard of before, so forget everything you may
previously have thought- this is NEW ROTARY and they meet up just for a drink & chat the actual meetings lasting no more
than 1 hour, you are then free to get back home to the kids or the television or stay on to get to know your new friends.
One of Rotarys themes is Were for Communities and that is no idle phrase as it can translate to mean helping local
communities or globally. As a new club we will be looking for new ideas and new challenges especially in your community so if
you have a project you want to get off the ground why not let Rotary help.
There is also no commitment to actually attending every week, unless of course you want to, as Rotary has recognised this isnt
always possible. So if you are new to the area or simply looking for something new to do, drop in and see us as we are looking
for enthusiastic people of all ages from 18 upwards to join this new venture.
We look forward to see you but if you have any questions now you want answering please ring Doreen on 01244 300 100 or
07581 035 234 or e-mail [email protected]

Seasonal Review from Higher Kinnerton Cricket Club
Well by any standards it's been a wonderful sunny summer so
far, so it's surprising to report that our first three fixtures
were postponed due to rain. So it was 1 July before we played
our first game at Northop where our total of 118 was
overtaken with two balls to go. Next up was a defeat at
Boughton Hall followed by another last over defeat at
Northop against their second XI who beat our total of 123.
Then finally a win, again at Northop, where our total of 111
was enough and then this was followed up with a win at
Westminster Park where our total of 148 was well beyond
their reply of 111. Our next game took us to Llay CC where we
could not match their score of 151 which saw us reach 132.
Then we again played and won at Northop, scoring 132 and
finally we played at Cheshire County Club where our total of
149 was beaten by a very good batting side. We have three
remaining fixtures to complete our season; games at
Hawarden Park, Westminster Park and Northop. Anyone
interested in joining please contact Jim on 660548 or Mike on

Community Walks
Community Walks are ideal for people who would
like to increase their level of fitness by the use of
short walks. Walking in a group enables people to
have fun, relax, to control or lose weight and to
feel independent. Research has found that even
light exercise can reduce the onset of a number of
physical diseases as well as mental benefits by
reducing anxiety and depression.
Light refreshments are available at the end of each
walk.
Walks are free of charge and are led by qualified
leaders who know the area they are walking in.
They take place every Thursday from the Village
Hall, Main Road, Higher Kinnerton at 1.15pm
Further information please call Colin Herbert on
01244 534637.
Village Hall Quiz Night
This years quiz takes place on
Saturday October 4th at 8.00pm and is
a joint effort shared by KVH and
Kinnerton Cricket Club.
Tickets from Mike Williams (660777)

book a table. Dont leave it too late -
we have sold out quickly in the past, so
dont be disappointed.
Apart from financial support by the Higher Kinnerton
Community Council, the hall is self-financing through
hiring charges and fund-raising by Higher Kinnerton Village
Hall Management Committee. If you value the hall as a
vital part of our community then please consider joining
