A 10-Member group from Goa sponsored by the ICCR on the occasion of 50th Anniversary of Dip-lomatic Relations between India & Maldives presented Folk Dance & Music of Goa at the Indian Cul-tural Centre. The group was led by Ms. Marianela Mascarenhas Dias. She is also the founder of this group called Goenchim Noketram. The aim of this group is to protect, preserve and to promote the unique traditional cultural heritage of Goa through songs and dance. The group presented Dekhni, Fisherfolks of Goa, Mando and Kharvi dances and songs. His Excellency High Commissioner of India, Shri Rajeev Shahare was Chief Guest on this occasion. A 10 Member Folk Dance and Music Group from GoaA 10 Member Folk Dance and Music Group from Goa performed at the Alimas Carnival on 2nd No-vember 2014. The performance was organized by FAIM (Friendship Association India –Maldives) in collaboration with the High Commission of India/Indian Cultural Centre. The Group was sponsored by ICCR New Delhi on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of India-Maldives Diplomatic Relations.

An Immortal Melodies of Golden Era of Hindi Films

The Indian Cultural Centre, Male’ organized an Immortal Melodies of Golden Era of Hindi Films on Wednesday, 5th November 2014 at its Centre. H.E. High Commissioner of India, Shri Rajeev Shahare was the Chief Guest on this oc-casion. The songs were presented by Ms. Surabhi Dhomne from India she was accompanied by Mr. Sachin Dhomne on Tabla and Mr. Mahendra Dhole on Keyboard. Audienc-es enjoyed the evening.

Yoga Awareness Camp at Hulhumale’ The Indian Cultural Centre organized Yoga Awareness Camp at Hulhumale’ Ruhgadu Sarahahdhu on 6th November 2014. The Camp was conducted by Dr. Savita Harish, ICC Yoga Teacher and an about 50 Yoga students including residents of Hulhumale’ attended the camp. Laughter Yoga was also con-ducted which was well appreciated by the participants.

Painting Competition on the occasion of Children’s Day The Indian Cultural Centre organized Painting Competition on the occasion of Children’s Day on Friday, 14th November at its Centre. The competition was organized in three groups: grade 1 to 4, grade 5 to 7th & grade 8 to 10. Twenty eight students from different schools in Male’ participated at the Competition

Lecture-cum-Demonstration on Tabla Indian Cultural Centre, Male’ Maldives, organized a Lecture-cum-Demonstration on Tabla by ICC Tab-la Teacher, Mr. Gurdit Singh on Thursday 20th November 2014 at 20.00 hrs at ICC Premises. His Excellency High Commissioner of India, Shri. Rajeev Shahare was the Chief Guest at the event.

Prize distribution ceremony for the Paint-ing CompetitionPrize distribution ceremony for the Painting Competition organized by the Indian Cultural Centre on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Prizes/certificates were awarded by the Chief Guest, His Excellency High Commissioner of India, Shri Rajeev Shahare & Madam Smt. Preeti Shahare. Cultural programmes were presented by the ICC stu-dents. The paintings/drawings were also displayed for viewing.

“Yoga Camp” at HinmaFushi Island The Indian Cultural Centre of the High Commission of India organized a “Yoga Camp” at Hinma Fushi Island School on Thursday, 4th December. A short-duration Lecture-Demonstration (for 15 minutes) on Dance & Percussion was also presented by the ICC Dance & Tabla teachers. About 55 students including residents of Hinma Fushi participated in the Camp

Visit of ICCR Internal Audit Team to ICC Male’ ICCR Internal Audit Team led by Sh. Arun Kumar Sahu, Deputy Director General ICCR New Delhi, enjoying the cultural evening organized by the In-dian Cultural Centre Male’ for them during their official visit to Maldives.

Lecture-cum-Demonstration on Dance (Taal & Laya) Indian Cultural Centre, Male’ Maldives, organized a Lecture-cum-Demonstration on Dance (Taal & Laya) by ICC Kathak Dance Teacher, Ms. Pranaame Bhagawati and ICC Kathak Dance students on Saturday 20th December 2014 at 17.00hrs at ICC premises. An Evening of Bollywood Hit songs The Indian Cultural Centre, Male’ organized an Evening of Bollywood Hit songs on Friday, 9th Janu-ary at its Centre. H.E. High Commissioner of India, Shri Rajeev Shahare was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The songs were presented by Mrs. Nimrata Rassna from Delhi, India, Mr. Shafiqul Islam and Ms. Mariyam Waheeda a Maldivian national. They were accompanied on Tabla by ICC Tabla Teacher, Mr. Gurdit Singh. Audiences enjoyed the evening.

Inauguration of India-Maldives Film Festival The India-Maldives Film Festival was inaugurated by Minister of Youth and Sports H.E Mohamed Maleeh Jamal and the High Commissioner of India Shri Rajeev Shahare on 20th January 2015 at Olympus Theater. A short cultural segment was presented by the teachers and students of the Indian Cultural Cen-tre.

Celebration of 66th Republic Day of India at Dharubaaruge On the eve of 66th Republic Day of India, a reception was organized on 25th January 2015, at Dha-rubaaruge Hall by the High Commission of India in which Ms. Dunya Maumonn, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Republic of Male’ Maldives was Chief Guest. Several other Cabinet Ministers, Heads of local institutions, distinguished local dignitaries and members of the Indian community in Maldives also attended the event.The students of the Indian Cultural Centre presented Dance, Yoga, Tabla and Boduberu performanc-es.

Flag Hoisting Ceremony at High Commission of India High Commission of India, Malé celebrat-ed the 66th Republic Day of India on 26th January 2015 at the Chancery. A small cultural event with the singing of patriotic songs was organized ICC teachers.

PAINTING EXHIBITION - Cultural Confluence UNITED COLOURSOn the occasion of India-Maldives Golden Jubilee Celebrations the Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India in collaboration with the National Centre for the Arts organised an Exhibition of 33 Paintings created by Indian, Maldivian and some South Asian Young Artists called “Cultural Confluence –United Colours” at the National Art Gallery. The Exhibition was inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Mohamed Saeed, Hon’ble Minister for Economic Development, Government of the Republic of Maldives in presence of H.E. High Commissioner of India, Shri Rajeev Shahare
