Equipped with the state-of-the-art technology and a conducive business environment, PICT is poised to become the most efficient port on the East Coast of India. A separate rail siding is envisaged for the berth where rail loading/ unloading of containers and other clean cargo can take place. This will enhance the viability of the project by attracting rail-borne cargo and enabling it to render value added services like bagging of fertilizers. Handling of clean cargoes, break bulk cargoes, steels and containers have commenced since May 2018 and the operations are going on in full swing. By the end of July, PICT was able to handle 1.2 lakh MT of clean cargoes and 1,111 TEUs of containers. PICT has targeted to handle at least 5 Million tons of cargoes during coming one year A concession Agreement was signed on 7 th March 2015 between Shri M.T. Krishna Babu (Chairman), Paradip Port Trust on behalf of Paradip Port and Mr. Dhruv Kotak (Joint Managing Director), J M BAXI GROUP on behalf of Paradip International Cargo Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (PICT) in the presence of the senior officers of Paradip Port Trust and officers of the J M BAXI GROUP. The concession period stands for 30 years on BoT basis. PICT is responsible for financing, designing, construction, commissioning of the project along with operation, management and maintenance under the concession agreement.     Operation commenced with flying colours

    PICT commenced its first Terminal Operation on 25th May 2018 and the first vessel MV DMC JUPITER (Cargo- Steel plates & steel rounds) was berthed on 30th May 2018. PICT has so far handled 14 vessels & 95 No’s of Rakes. The total Cargo quantity handled till date is as follows:

    Total rake handled cargo quantity breakbulk (Inward/ Outward): 271,029.901 MT

    PICT successfully achieved its highest ever loading rate in 24 hrs for HR Coils – 715 Pcs/ 17,081.624 MT into the vessel MV ASIA ZIRCON II on 2nd Aug 2018 surpassing the previous record of PICT of 565 Pcs/ 15,248.806 MT into the vessel MV. TAN BINH 234 on 3rd July 2018.

    PICT reached another greater height by achieving the discharge rate in 24 hrs for Steel coated pipes - 1356 Pcs/ 4,118.784 MT from vessel MV Warnow Jupiter on 28th June 2018.

    PICT advanced further by loading 4,154 MT within 24 hrs for steel plates cargo with only two hold available (as per stowage plan) for loading in MV Vega Lea on date 29th July 2018.

    On 6th Aug 2018, PICT has successfully unloaded an HR Coils rake within 55 mins.

    On 11th Aug 2018, another record was made by the operation team by handling 4 rakes in a span of 24 hours. The total cargo quantity

    handled for all 4 rakes: 933 Pcs / 11,688.965 MT with only one siding operational.

    Marketing activities in full swing

    The PICT marketing team initially made a detailed market study of Odisha and its hinterland without restricting to the available market survey reports and in the shortest possible time frame. Strategies were devised, micro-level detailed planning sketched, and the team embarked on the mission to make ‘PICT the Shining Star’ of J M BAXI GROUP.

    The journey of Team PICT Marketing so far has been excitedly challenging from identifying the prospective clients, their decision makers and

    contacting them in the best possible economical medium, to setting-up the office in Bhubaneswar keeping cost efficiency of prime importance. The team with their ‘can do’ attitude kept the organisational goal as their main motto, to overcome all hurdles and deliver rightly for the growth of PICT. The marketing team was entrusted with task of proving the projected potential of PICT to a set of financiers, this too was completed with stupendous efficiency and result.

    The marketing team has so far interacted with prospective clients operating out of Odisha and hinterland having clean exim cargo turnover of around 15 million tonnes per annum
