Year 9 RugbyNOMINATIONS FOR PARENT GOVERNORS

The term of office for Mr Q Neal, Parent Governor, will end on 31st August 2015. On behalf of the College community, we thank him for the extra work he has undertaken in this role for the good of everyone.

Parents play a very important role on our Governing Body and are a vital part of our team, helping the College to meet the needs of the children and the community we serve.

Parent Governors are elected by all parents/guardians of registered pupils in the College and it is now necessary to elect one Parent Governor for our College Governing Body to fill this vacancy. Mr Neal has indicated his willingness to stand for re-election. The term of office for Parent Governors is usually four years. Parents/guardians of registered pupils at the College are eligible to stand for election for parent governorship at the College.

Attached is a nomination form. If you would like to stand as a candidate, please complete the attached nomination form, including the details of a proposer and seconder, and return it to Helen Caul, Clerk to the Governors, at the College, no later than end of school day on Friday, 26th June 2015. If you return a form, Helen Caul will issue a receipt for it. Should two parents/guardians living in the same household wish to make separate nominations, a further form can be obtained from Helen Caul.

If there are more nominations than vacancies on the Governing Body it will be necessary to hold an election. In that case, candidates will be asked to supply, in not more than 75 words, a statement on their background and interests and return this form to Helen Caul. In the event of an election being necessary, this information will be available to all parents who are eligible to vote. If you would like further advice, please do not hesitate to contact Helen Caul.

What am I?• Thirty men and only two women, but they hold the most power. Dressed in black and white, they could fight for hours. Who are they?

Nine o’clock.

Since there are 12 hours between the 2 times and half of that time is six, then the halfway mark would have to be 7 o’clock.

If it were 7 o’clock two hours ago, the time would now be 9 o’clock.

After a successful ski trip in 2014, the PE department are organising another trip for April 2016. Next year’s ski trip will be to Alpe D’Huez in France and will take place between Saturday 9th April 2016 and Saturday 16th April 2016.

Please see Mr Nunnery for a letter regarding the details and the cost of this brilliant trip.

Weekly Theme - God’s KingdomMark 4:26-34

Then Jesus said, “God’s kingdom is like seed thrown on a field by a man who then goes to bed and forgets about it. The seed sprouts and grows - he has no idea how it hap-pens. The earth does it all without his help: first a green stem of grass, then a bud, then the ripened grain. When the grain is fully formed, he reaps - harvest time!

“How can we picture God’s kingdom? What kind of story can we use? It’s like a mustard seed. When it lands on the ground it is quite small as seeds go, yet once it is planted it grows into a huge pine tree with thick branches. Eagles nest in it.”

With many stories like these, he presented his message to them, fitting the stories to their experience and maturity. He was never without a story when he spoke. When he was alone with his disciples, he went over everything, sort-ing out the tangles, untying the knots.

Jesus was a big threat to people with power, all because he told simple stories like the one in this week’s Gospel. The mustard seed is a small seed that spreads quickly and stubbornly. It can take over an entire garden. According to Jesus, God’s Kingdom can grow in the same way. It can spread quickly through all areas and relationships in our lives. Quickly and stubbornly, Jesus says, God can inspire his disciples to spread through society working for those in need and this is really bad news for the people whose power and profits are based on keeping others poor and powerless.

So it’s not hard to see why powerful people wanted Jesus dead. The message of Jesus is still explosive and threatening to people who abuse power and profits today. That’s why Christians are still being martyred throughout the world. The more God’s Kingdom spreads, the more we as Christians may face resistance from people who say that Jesus’ words are unrealistic or idealistic. We may be called names for being followers of Jesus. But the more we get to know Jesus the more we won’t feel right unless we let his Kingdom spread, because we can provide shade for so many people who need it.

PrayerOur Father, Who art in heaven hallowed be thy Name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen
