Pupil Absence
Dolce have informed us that they are trying to minimise the amount of pre-
ordered food not eaten on a daily basis through pupil absences. This is due to
pupils orders not being cancelled.
May I remind parents that it is your responsibility to inform us if your child is
going to be absent and that you contact us before 9.00am If you have pre-
ordered a meal for your child for that day, you will need to cancel their meal to
avoid any charges.
Pre-ordering for your child
We have noticed some pupils have brought a packed lunch and pre-ordered a
hot meal, then the hot meal has not being taken. Can I ask parents to only pre-
order a meal if your child requires one.
We have also noticed that some parents are not pre-ordering meals for their
child and are not sending the child with a packed lunch. It is your responsibility
to book the meal for your child. If you are unable to access ‘Live Kitchen’ or are
experiencing difficulty, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the school
administration team.
It is recommended that parents include their child in the process of ordering their
meals as this will help reduce a child not knowing what has been ordered for
them and children also telling us they don’t like what their parent has ordered on
their behalf.
Thank you for your support.

Values Curriculum Launch ‘Love’ Term 2
As part of our Values Based Education initiative, during the month of February we shall be studying the value of Love. Please take a few minutes to visit the school website (www.oldparkprimary.com) and look at the assembly with your child. We hope that you will be able to use the assembly as a starting point to help you to engage with your child and support their learning in school. There is an ‘Our Values’ section on the website, under the ‘Our School’ heading where you can access all of the values assemblies and newsletters should you wish to revisit any of the themes. What value do you value most? In recent assemblies, we have discussed that the best answer to this question is love. That raises some important questions. Is love a value? Does love belong with other things considered values, such as honesty, loyalty, tolerance, determination, patience, confidence etc.? Were the ancient scholars of wisdom correct when they held love to be the highest quality of all qualities? Teaching and learning is grounded by love , by which we mean the capacity to extend ourselves for the sake of another person’s growth. Our work in school stretches us to understand, respect and support each other; teaching us why learning to love is one of the most demanding disciplines we can choose. As we continue our journey in Values Based School teaching, it is appropriate that we pause for a moment to reflect on the impact of what being a Values Based School has meant for us. Every month, since September 2017 we have explored and deepened our under-standing of the core values we chose to focus on in our school: Equality, courage, hope, consideration, love, compassion, respect, kindness responsibility, friendship, peace. Whilst we take great pride in our academic achievements, it is our celebration and focus on these values that underpins the emotional intelligence that is so often demonstrated by our children and will be pivotal in their success in later life. By success, I mean that they live fulfilling lives. Why love? Love is the value that underpins our most noble human values. Love activates, empowers and encourages the growth of our other core values.
