have a combined Membership of 107. The NCCC currently has a total membership of 18,290. This number will drop

over the next couple months as we go thru the renewal process.

News from the National Level:

Other NCM News, NCCC has partnered with Museum to offer each person who purchases a new Corvette with

Museum Delivery a one-year membership in NCCC at no cost.

Convention 2017 will be held in Bowling Green, KY, August 21, thru August 25. I will give you more details as they

become available.

The latest news from the SW Region

Competition Events: All Competition Events for the year 2016 have been completed.

11/ 19 Brazos River CC will host A high performance driver education event. This event is a non-sanctioned.

Designed for novices and less experienced drivers using their daily driver car rather than for highly experienced

drivers and race prepared cars.

Notes from the SWR Governor’s Meeting October 29th:

On Saturday night (10/29/2016), Craig Kamradt attended the last Regional Governors Meeting in Kyle. A few

items of note:

a. Introductions were done.

b. Secretary’s Report/minutes were approved.

c. Treasurer Report – Paul was not in attendance. The RE presented Paul’s reports for the current status of

the region. We still have some money in the account. Club Fees for 2017 are $45 and events fees that are

due are 75 cents per event.

d. Scholarships in the region, they are available. Please consider applying, no one applied in 2016.

e. RCD – provided a status of events for 2016 for the region. The 2017 database status is open if governors

want to start putting in sanctions for 2017. Outlaws have moved to April 22 and Tejas now has Labor Day

weekend. 6 records broken at Record Drags in Oklahoma. Provided point status, that is no longer valid.

f. RE notes were mostly from the last national meeting, I didn’t write them all, should be in the RE minutes

for national meeting.

g. Omaha Convention this summer made a small profit split between nationals and Cornhusker Corvette

club. Only one bid went in for 2018, New Orleans. Two regions are considering bids for 2019.

h. New Orleans convention brief – room rates 89 + tax with suites at 119 + tax. July 15 – 20, 2018. Hotel

will honor prices 3 days prior and after convention for those that want to extend their trip. Some parking

maybe by reservation.

i. Officers for 2017 are RE – Doc Lambert, RCD Doug McMahan, RMD – Craig Kamradt. All appointed

officers have said they will continue to support the region.

j. Cowtown Corvettes offered to host the Regional Banquet for 2017, it will probably be either March 4 or

11, 2017.

k. Low turn-out at events this year was discussed. One thought to get better attendance was to get back to

clubs providing hospitality.

l. Budget discussions were tabled until next year.

m. New Business – None.

n. Don’t forget Proxies for next year

Corvette

Trivia

The Corvette was the first and last car with a true “wrap-around” windshield.

Only the driver’s side vent on the 1964 Corvette is functional.

In 1970, big block engines increased from 427 to 454 cubic inches and the

powerful 370 HP LT1 small block engine made its debut.

The 1981 Corvette had two cooling fans to increase engine power.

In early production 1996 Grand Sports models, there was a small area behind

the hatch roof and in front of the panel that attaches to the real window that is

taped, not painted. The tape is 1 inch- long and about 18 inches wide whose

purpose was to eliminate a problem area in the paint booth during

manufacturing.

Active Handling became standard equipment in 2001.

Wishing all OCCC Members a very Merry Christmas.

Looking forward to a Great New Year for our Club.
