The jury of eminent educationists’ shortlisted teachers on the basis of various criteria in five cadres and the twenty five best teachers were bestowed with the award. Ms Pallavi Sukhtankar, CCE Coordinator, Choithram School, Manik Bagh was honoured with the award for excellence in the field of education by Mr Vijay Shah, School Education Minister, Madhya Pradesh. Devansh Mishra from Choithram School, Manik Bagh rendered his service in this act and was awarded with

the certificate of excellence.

Ms. Raminder Mac, Dean International Affairs attended the Annual Regional British Council School Ambassador

(BCSA) Meet on September 14, 2016 in New Delhi along with 40 other BCSA’s from various schools of northern

India. The Meet comprised of introductions by the participants about their journey with the British Council,

Connecting Classrooms 3 Progress Report by Mr. Arijit Ghosh, Head – School Programmes, British Council,

brainstorming sessions related to ‘Sphere of Influence’ of the British Council as well as ‘Assessments and Training

of Language Development at Schools.’Ms. Rittika Chandra Parruch, Deputy Director Education and Society of the

British Council and Mr. Arjun Bahadur, Assistant Director – Schools presided over the meet. All the participants

received certificates from Mr. Alan Gemmell, OBE, Country Director, British Council India for sharing knowledge

and expertise with the teaching community of the schools participating in the Connecting Classrooms

Programme.

‘A good teacher inspires hope, ignites the imagination and instills a love for learning.’

Students of Choithram School celebrated Teachers' Day with warmth and zeal on September 3, 2016 to

commemorate the contribution of the teachers in shaping the future of the students. The celebration began with

the tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan followed by the conduction of the morning assembly by the senior

students of the school. The cultural bonanza of melodious songs, rock band, action packed skit and mime along with

the fusion dance in delightful couture by the students stole the show. The humorous skit won appreciation from the

audience. The mime presentation by Community club students conveyed that service to man is service to God. The

video featuring memories and messages displayed the love and gratitude of the students and made the teachers go

down the memory lanes to relive the moments. The audio-visual game show was enjoyed by the teachers who also

exhibited their sportive talent in the volleyball match where they equated the performance of the students.

Felicitation in the form of citations adjudged by the peers poured in for the best teachers from Montessori to Senior

school. Principal Sir in his addressal conveyed that the art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery and praised

the teachers for providing inspiration to enlighten and ignite the imagination of the students.

The 25th Independence Day of Uzbekistan was celebrated with great zeal and zest by the

students of class IX C on September 1, 2016. Students threw light on the culture,

tradition and food habits of the people of Uzbekistan. Monuments were displayed through

placards while the lifestyle was brought alive through traditional attire and enactment.

Students also informed about the relationship of Uzbekistan and India. Traditional dance

of Uzbekistan added grace and beauty to the presentation which ended with the national

anthem of Uzbekistan.

Teachers’ Day

Picnic ‘We travel not to escape life.. but for life not to escape us..’ The busy schedule in life leaves us with no time to appreciate

nature or spend time in the lap of nature. A picnic was

organized to Baigram in the outskirts of Indore on September 11,

2016. The excited educators started early morning to unfold the

mysteries of an unexplored place. The water rills, the lush green

fields, the vast sky and the giggles of the lot were etched deeply

in the memories of every individual. The exciting games, the

sumptuous lunch comprising of daal- baflas were enjoyed by all.

This short outing refreshed and rejuvenated everyone.

Students of class IX wrote messages to create awareness on global warming and took out a rally displaying the messages on the placards in the school premises.

Students of class IX presented a ‘Street Play’ in village Harniyakhedi on ‘Safeguarding our Planet’.

Expert witnesses the MUN Session

Dr. Shankar Garg, an educationist witnessed the Model United Nations (MUN) Session of class IX on ‘Reducing Carbon Emissions and Global Warming’ in USA, UK, India, China, Nigeria and Ethiopia on August 29, 2016. Britta Heinle, an AFS volunteer from Germany and Katia Kozachok, a one year exchange student from USA were the other guests on the occasion.

Mime Presentation

Students of class VIII presented a ‘Mime’ on ‘How Can I

Make My Planet Healthy?’ (as a group activity) and

suggested measures to keep our planet in good health.

Students of class VIII presented causes and effects of

global warming in USA, UK, India, China, Nigeria and

Ethiopia through ‘Mind Maps’ (as a group activity)and

showcased the same in front of their peers.

Students of class VIII of CBSE main and grade VIII of CBSE-i curriculum prepared the mind maps depicting the causes and effects of global warming in USA, UK, India, China, Nigeria and Ethiopia.

Mandana Making

Inter House Mandana Making was organized on

September 6, 2016 for the students of class XI and XII

to gain insight into the oldest form of tribal art.

Unique designs ranging from elements of nature to

deities along with the events, festivals and social

themes were well crafted on the coloured chart paper

by the students. The exhibits showed the

amalgamation of tradition and modern art forms

conveying that the art is the soul of the culture.

Poem Recitation

‘Poetry is the essence of literature in which sound and meaning

of language are combined to create ideas and feelings.’

To mark Hindi Diwas with a unique national flavour of Hindi

language, an Inter House Poem Recitation was conducted for the

students of class VI to VIII on September 17, 2016 wherein the

students recited the inspirational poems of renowned poets. The

activity was judged on the parameters of voice modulation,

intonation and fluency. The participants recited with proper pause

and pace, rhyme and rhythm and left a deep impact on the

audience.

Fireless Dessert Making

To encourage the culinary skills of the students, an Inter

House Fireless Dessert Making event was organized for the

students of class IX and X on September7, 2016. Students

prepared gastronomic specialties with readily available

ingredients of varied flavour and sweet taste. The

combination of different ingredients added flavour to the

sumptuous recipes and enriched the students with innovative

methods.

Extempore

‘Words have power, words can light fires in the minds of

men, words can wring tears from the hardest hearts.’

As a part of Hindi Diwas celebration an Inter House Extempore

was organized for the students of class IX and X on September

17,2016 where students exhibited their spontaneity and

knowledge with confidence on the variety of topics like Life

without mobile phones, If I could help my neighbour, Let us do

something to….., Youth and Fashion and many more. The

judgement criteria were based on expression, voice

modulation and fluency. The spontaneous flow of ideas and

opinions from the students were highly acclaimed by all.

Social Social Science-class VI Activity

As a part of PBL activity and to develop the cognitive skills of children, a bubble making activity was conducted in which the students filled the bubbles with their views on the improved use of language rather than the use of slang language and the behaviour of

students in their peer group.

Science-class VII Activity

To reinforce the concept of measurement of time an activity of making sundial and sand clock was conducted. Students enthusiastically participated in this activity as it enabled them to understand the methods and devices used in ancient times for measurement of time. They also learnt about the working of sundials at historical places like Jantar-Mantar.

English-class VIII Activity

To assess the Literary and Creative skills of the students, a group activity based on ‘Public

Awareness’ was conducted. The topics were Eye donation, Stop pollution, Save trees save

earth, Blood donation, Books are our best friends, Follow traffic rules and Keep your

surroundings clean. The students exhibited their creativity and prepared the posters with

visuals and catchy slogans in the class itself. Students also spoke public awareness slogans

to enhance the impact.

Hindi-class IX Activity

Maths-class X Activity

An activity was conducted on Ogive curve which is a smooth S-shaped curve. Students plotted the values of cumulative frequency against the upper boundary points of the class intervals to make a graph. By adding successive frequencies of each class interval, they obtained the cumulative frequency values. The curve is obtained by joining all the plotted values with a pencil without using a ruler. This activity taught students to find median

using Ogive curve.

Computer Activity-Multi streaming Windows

Students of Class XII of Multimedia and Web technology designed video galleries displaying

different videos of CGI and VFX animation technology using HTML 5 language. Multiple

videos were played simultaneously in different windows on the same web page.

Science Ms Sheetal Sharma, Advocate, High Court was invited as a guest speaker

on September 7, 2016. Ms Sharma briefed up the students of class IX B

and IX C on the chapter ‘Constitutional Design’ and dealt in detail with

the Constitution of India emphasizing on various articles, amendments

and schedules followed by the drafting of the constitution. The speaker

elaborately explained the preamble of the constitution which makes

India sovereign, socialistic and democratic republic. Students clarified

their queries pertaining to the chapter. The informative and interactive

session enriched the students on the ‘Constitution’, the supreme law of

the country.

Self Help is the Best Help

As humans we need to interact with each other

through communication, cooperation and work for

our mutual benefit. We seek help when we require,

be it physical support, emotional support or just

general, helping and being helped is an important

part of our life. However, not all problems can be

solved by others. Throughout the course of our life,

we face many problems and some of these problems

run so deep with such magnitude that no one can

help us except ourselves. The issues related to

personal health, relationships etc often require

attention from us rather than others. Although

sharing these problems with others isn’t wrong but

we should remember that the best source of advice

for a person is himself only as the important

decisions in life is taken by us and not by others.

Self-help is the best attribute as no one understands

our needs better than ourselves. Helping ourselves

not only makes us independent and self-reliant but

also gives us first-hand experience on how to deal

with some specific types of problems. In the end, I

would like to say that there is no better lesson than

our mistakes and no better way to solve our

problems than self-help.

Kashmir - Tourism or Terrorism?

Highly regarded as the most beautiful places of the world,

housing the Dal lake, Vaishno Devi, and some of the most

breathtaking views, Kashmir is a place which is on the must-

visit list of majority of people. From personal view, Kashmir

is one of the most diverse regions in India. The sad part is

that it is prone to constant firing from across the border from

Pakistan. Clashes of the Indian Forces and the Pakistani

Forces are now considered as a common happening in this

area. Blood lost by the injured has been soaked up by these

sacred lands for many decades and now the current situation

indicates that it will continue for many more years. The

reason for so many tragic losses is nothing but a petty fight

over a land which is infuriating and not just the loss of the

soldiers’ lives, but those of the civilians caught in crossfire as

well. If you take a survey and ask people to visit and stay in

Kashmir, most would hesitate. For these sacred lands, have

been the witnesses of many conflicts and deaths. Just like

people would hesitate to buy a house in which a murder

occurred recently, the average person won't buy a ticket to

Kashmir. That is completely natural, because we humans

have been hardwired to avoid places or people who are

witnesses or victims of a crime. Considering the recent

surgical strike by the Indian Army and the sad demise of the

brave soldiers at the border, this effect is at its apex. The

presence of some powerless terrorists sitting in bunkers

should not faze us even a bit and stop us from visiting this

heavenly abode, Kashmir. So, get up and take your family

for a trip to this place. You might end up enjoying it and

getting some good memories!!!!

Time Management

Good beginners are at the top everywhere and come out with flying colours and bring laurels. Their beginning is

perfect and definitely their ending will also be perfect. Exams are at the doorstep and everyone is tensed about

preparation. Though you all will give your 100%, but still you need to focus more on managing time as time spares

no one and plays an important role in deciding the result. If we begin our work with sincerity and on time, its

completion is sure shot. Those who start their work early are able to do a lot of work when others are still asleep.

In the race itself, the start counts a lot and it should be fine. So, to get a good result, give a good start to your

work.

It is believed that if the values are inculcated into children at an early age, they remain with them throughout their lives. The students of Class V E presented a dance drama on value Respect which conveyed the message of giving respect to everyone. The students of Class IV A gave a lively dance performance on the same theme.

To develop scientific temperament and enhance knowledge about colours an experiment with primary colours was conducted for children.

Picture Completion To enhance and promote co-operative play and thinking skills, students of Senior Montessori were given an exposure to work with puzzles and complete the pictures of birds, based on the theme ‘Our Feathered Friends’.

Reading Programme

To develop and enhance their reading skills, Montessori students of Nursery did picture reading based on colours. At the same time children of Junior Montessori learned letters q and o and senior students did the revision of vowel words and learned four letter words.

Ganesh Chaturthi

To expose our children to multi socio-culture, children of Montessori celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi festival for ten days. During these ten days, all the significant aspects of the festival were highlighted through pooja, bhajans, aarti, movie and skit. The festival was celebrated with pomp and splendour.

Circle Time Activities

This month circle time activity was based on shapes and birds. The students of Senior Montessori revised rooms in a house.

Learning to Express @ Art

This month in Art class, children of Nursery were given exposure to develop printing skills. Junior Montessori did free hand drawing and Senior Montessori children enhanced their colouring skills.

Visit to Temple

A visit to famous Iskcon Temple was organized for Montessori students. Children worshipped, participated in bhajans and chanted shlokas. This visit helped children to show gratitude and develop religious values.

Visit to Zoo

‘Visit to zoo’ was planned for the students of Senior Montessori. The visit proved to be a great tool for the students to understand animals and animal behavior. It also helped to promote awareness about endangered birds and some rare animals.

Puppet Show

Students of Senior Montessori witnessed a puppet show and learned the importance of determination and hard work.

English Recitation

With an objective of enhancing the students’ literary and public speaking skills an English Recitation Event was organized for the students of Senior Montessori. The activity allowed the students to express themselves and increase their confidence level.

Class IV

A debate on ‘Whether you want your mother to be a house wife or a working woman’ was conducted in which the students shared their intimate feelings and expressed their views freely. Finally, a group discussion was done to summarize all the views.

Class V

Picture Reading was taken to enable children to explore the world within their own imagination and make connections with the pictures they see in books. The kids were encouraged to visualize pictures and speak elaborately about them.

Spoken English

CLASS I & II In Spoken English, various interactive audios on the theme ‘Animal Kingdom’ were played in the class. Students loved solving various fun-based exercises of the Dialogue book.

Special Activities

Life skill Activity

The students of class V discussed about their role models and their achievements, the reasons why they admire them the most etc. A few inspiring videos on the life of great personalities were also shown as a part of Life skills activity.

Reading Programme

Various words of each sound of the letter ‘a’ were schooled to the children to develop the recognition of sounds of alphabet. They also wrote a few new words with the same sounds in their notebooks.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha, a fabulous show was put up by the students of classes I & II. The programme commenced with a melodious Ganesh Vandana followed by shloka recitation. The solo dance, group song and action song on Lord Ganesha were a delight to eyes.

With the purpose of making children aware of different kinds of animals, their eating habits and habitats, children of class I visited zoo. They also got acquainted with species of few birds.

Students of classes III, IV & V were taken to Nature Nursery Pipliyapala Regional Park as a part of Eco Club and EVS activity where they saw different varieties of plants and learnt about them.

Book-Mark Making

On September 20, 2016, parents of class I shared their artistic skills and prepared bookmarks of various birds which the children imitated and enjoyed making a lot. Jessica, an intern from UK witnessed the event and appreciated the efforts put in by the parents and the children.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great zeal and fervour. Several performances like dance, music and hilarious Ad mad show made the day explicable. The students of class V loved playing the role of teachers for class I and II children.

Inter School Western Dance Event

Dance is the most beautiful form of expression of human feelings. Inter School Western Dance Event was organized in the school on September 30, 2016. The theme for the same was ‘Champions on the Floor’.

Exhibiting craft items of different states of India

Parents of Class IV were invited on September 22, 2016 for the exhibition showcasing the craft items of Gujarat, Rajasthan, M.P, U.P, Jammu & Kashmir, West Bengal and Kerala. The students brought items of different states and shared its history and origin along with the parents.

To develop strong bond towards our culture and traditions, mothers of Junior Montessori presented a

cultural programme on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. They all displayed abundant talent by presenting

vibrant dance performances and singing bhajans based on lord Ganesha.

What Goes Around, Comes Around Respect is a noble behaviour, a means to show regard or admiration to something or someone. It is a way of showing someone that we think highly of them. It includes taking someone’s feelings, needs, thoughts, ideas and preferences into consideration and giving them value. It also seems to include acknowledging them, listening to them, being truthful with them and accepting them. Not just others, we must respect ourselves too. This respect is holding our head high and standing by our own opinions firmly. It is the most important of all because without it, we would have no respect for others. We should respect our elders for their wisdom and support. We should respect the law, our government, our nation, our national anthem and our national flag. Everyone needs and deserves respect as it is a basic human need. We all crave respect and so, we all must give respect. Respect seems like a boomerang. In that sense, we must send it out to make it come back to us. It cannot be demanded or forced. Earning respect demands giving respect. So, we must invest respect now to ensure respect later in life. Treating others the way we want to be treated is truly the golden rule to be followed.

‘Respect Yourself If You Want Others to Respect You’

Respect is the sense of worth or personal value that we attach to someone. It means treating others with honour and dignity. The awareness about respect must be instilled in every human being from his childhood. Respecting ourselves means giving and defining our own worth and value as a human being. If we do not respect ourselves, it will be more difficult for us to respect anyone else. So it all begins with self respect. Respecting ourselves helps us move forward with the confidence to make a habit of respect and share it with people around us. Respecting others is a silent way to express our feelings for people. It's an unspoken way of communication which builds an unshaken and strong relation between people respecting each other. When a person shows respect for someone, then it means that the person has some value for him. His advices and suggestions are important for him. People who respect others feel good about themselves, feel proud of what they can do. They believe in themselves and see their own good qualities. They feel liked, loved, and respected. They accept themselves, even when they make mistakes and try to improve further. So, we must respect others and learn to earn respect rather than imposing it.

Respect is what we owe, Love is what we give

Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something brought forth by their abilities, qualities, or achievements. One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what others have to say. Sometimes in life, there comes a time to choose between being loved and being respected. One should always pick being respected. Another way of understanding that respect important is to imagine a world without respect. Think if nobody has respect for others’ views and thinking and ideology, and they try to impose their own will, then what would be the situation? Certainly we will stop tolerating each other completely and will become absolutely selfish in our thoughts and deeds which is actual moral degradation. We will start slipping towards immoral actions which leave no room for existing human civilization. In short, if respect is taken out of human values then there is almost no difference between a human being and a beast left, other than physical appearances. Respect

Respect is just not a word but its nature which keeps all human beings associated with each other. It’s a feeling which human beings express for someone to whom they admire, like or love due to their achievements, ability, quality and nature or may be sometimes to please others and show gratitude for some specific reason. To understand respect, here are few examples- Why do we respect our country? -Country gives us freedom to live with our fundamental rights. Why do we respect our parents? -Because they give us love, care and sources to become a successful and good human being. Why do we respect our culture? -It gives us various flavours of life, make us social. Respect is an essential part of life to keep any relation healthy and stronger.
