It follows therefore that dressing up as witches, skeletons, ghosts and attending parties that promote such practices and eating foods depicting such practices amounts to the imitation of evil and as God fearing Christians, we should not engage in such practices. Instead we should do as 1 Thessalonians 5:22 tells us: ‘Abstain from all appearance of evil’. As a church therefore, we choose to glorify God and worship Him on the day that the world glorifies evil. That is why we do Call To Worship on Halloween night. When God looks down and sees many celebrating evil, we want Him to see us and many other believers from various churches across this land glorifying Him and lifting up His name in one accord. Each year, Call To Worship NI draws together believers, churches and worship leaders from across Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland, the UK Mainland to praise and worship God continuously for 3 hours. It is an awesome experience! If in the past, you’ve attended Halloween celebrations, I challenge and encourage you to do something different this year – attend Call to Worship NI on Monday 31st October and see what joy and pleasure can be had in the presence of God.

Welcome to the month of October: Bare trees; Shorter days; Longer nights; British Winter Time; Christmas gifts on sale in the shops! All signifying that we are fast (too fast) approaching the end of the year. October is also the month in which the world celebrates Halloween. Many, including some Christians, join in this practice on the basis that it’s ‘just a bit of fun’. 3 John 1:11 however tells us not to imitate evil: ‘Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good….’ The bible makes it clear that the practice of witchcraft, the worshipping of the dead and the consulting of spirits is evil in God’s eyes. Deuteronomy 18:10-13 says: ‘, Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD; because of these same detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the LORD your God.’ (NIV)

Testimony Time All praise and Glory be to God for he has triumphed
gloriously and the work of His hands is wondrous to
behold. I would like to testify of the Lord’s goodness and
favor in my family. My brother and sister moved to the
UK from Kenya in December 2010. All glory to God
because the move was orchestrated and governed by God.
When they arrived here it was essential for them to be
enrolled in school so that they wouldn’t be behind in their
studies. As a result they began classes in January 2011
and we soon found out that my sister, Paulette, was
required to do coursework that the other students had
done over the two year GCSE period in three months.
It was a trying period where we all wondered if she would
be able to cope and also how she would do at the end of
it. Nevertheless, we trusted in God: acknowledging that
he had the master plan. She wrote her exams recently and
when her results came out we were reminded of the story
of Daniel and the Hebrew boys. She excelled with three A
grades and B’s, to the Glory of God. Her story of success
was publicized and recorded in local papers. Now she is
at a Grammar School doing her Advanced Levels.
God’s plans for her are higher and better: surely He
confounded the wise; He showed that He was able to do
exceedingly, abundantly above all that we could ever ask
or think. We give all praise to God because we know that
he is able and that He enabled Paulette to shine like a star,
to show forth the Glory of God upon her life. We thank
God for the earnest manifestation of the daughter of God.
Hallelujah, praise and adoration to the Most High.

United we stand, Divided we fall
That was the statement roared out as man prepared for battle, The Veritable battle cry
It was the picture of fortitude, that of oneness
Of similarity in vision, in spirit: of the pursuit of the same goal.
It is no wonder that the Psalmist proclaimed “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell
together in Unity!!!” It is indeed good, it is mighty pleasant...
Like a body well functioning, when all members are where
they are meant to be, doing what they ought to do. It is likened to the workings of a well oiled machine,
The result thereof is steadfast and true, real and believable
The blessing of the Lord’s hand, It is in that Unity that we cry out at such a time as this,
In that unity that we release a summon, a Call to Worship.
When the rest of the world is set in its celebration
We call for a coming together, a uniting of purpose... Let us join together responding to the call of God on all on earth,
Let us come together and experience the ointment of heaven,
And lift up our God in oneness of heart Then we shall see the Glory of God manifested before our eyes
And we shall behold a great manifestation Yes, when we are one we shall see it...
When we are ONE!!!
