We encourage students to ensure that they eat well, get some exercise so that they are firing on all cylinders. Virtual Assembly Congratulations to the students who received merit awards at our assembly last week; and a huge congratulations to the student leaders who led the assembly with the assistance of Mr Swann and Ms Plewright. While it is still some time before we can all meet together for an assembly, it is fantastic to have found a way to recognise our students and classes for their efforts. PBS Secondary Reward Lunch Congratulations to all Year 7-12 students who have worked hard to earn PBS tickets and reached the house goals. Our drop off system is working well; thank you for trialling the changes which we hope will allow us to continue a drop off area when all restrictions are lifted. There has been a lot of positive parent feedback for this approach. School assemblies can occur provided they keep in line with the 100 rule for indoor spaces or 300 for outdoor spaces. We look forward to working out how we can facilitate these to share the great work our students are doing. It was fantastic to watch the virtual assembly this week and it is always great to see our student leaders running them. Work Place Learning programs can commence but all work sites will need to have a COVID-19 plan in place to be approved. Matilda the Musical

Matilda the Musical is on again for 2020!

We have made the difficult decision to

swap the full Broadway version of the

show for the Junior version. Rehearsals

will commence from Monday 15th June

with performance dates scheduled for the

last week of November and the first

weekend of December. Miss Reynolds will

be in touch with all cast members for

information regarding rehearsals!

PBS at MBCC

PBS at our college is back on track as high

school students enjoyed a sausage sizzle

lunch reward last week. Primary school

students are working towards 600 points

for each house so that they can also take

part in a sausage sizzle lunch reward in

Week 10. Staff are busy handing out spirit

cup tokens as they spot students

demonstrating our school values. As

always, we are encouraging our students

to demonstrate respect, responsibility,

resilience and to be their best.

In Week 10, students from Kindy to Year

12 will have the opportunity to come to

school in their pyjamas as we wrap up a

most unusual term with a relaxed ‘come

in your PJs’ day’. Keep up the great work

everyone!

MBCC P&C News

Canteen Calls for Volunteers

Now that we’re in Phase 3 the P&C is thrilled to be able to invite parents, carers

and community volunteers to help in the canteen again. We have missed you all so

much and it has been quite a challenge running the canteen without our wonderful volunteer helpers!

Did you know that as a canteen volunteer,

you get free morning tea and lunch, as well as free lunch for one child? So if you

are able to help out, whether that be on a regular or casual basis that would be greatly appreciated.

No experience is

necessary, just a positive attitude!

To volunteer, call

Su on 98511272. Ordering is currently via telephone or online using Flexischools

by 9:00am.

Grant Success

Thank you to the Mount Barker Co-Op for sponsoring the P&C again this year. $250 has been granted to the main P&C for use

at a school sporting event and another $250 to the Early Childhood Committee

for a Father’s Day Fundraiser. Thanks also to Nat and Sharon for applying on behalf of the P&C.

The Mount Barker Co-op is a big supporter of the local community and currently has a schools’ competition running called

Books and Bounce. To enter spend $100 or more at either Supa IGA or Mitre 10

and vote MBCC to win books and sports equipment

for your school. Entries close at the

end of the month, so support the businesses that

support your school and shop local.

Challenges and Opportunities

Encouraging our girls to consider the

‘Trades’ as a possible career path is the focus of an additional program currently being offered at the college.

The program involves skill development in

the Trade Centre, with guidance from Ben Grylls, an ex- student from an earlier program and now a qualified Engineering

Tradesman.

The students will later be mentored in other trades, experiencing the tasks involved and then concluding with a visit

to South Regional TAFE and ATC Work Smart to learn about the steps involved to

get further qualified and future employment opportunities.

A BIG thank you to all the girls! You have all being well prepared, organised, keen

to have a go at all tasks and focussed on achieving. Definitely meeting the

challenge. Great start. We thank ATC Work Smart, for their

support in the program and welcome others, who would like to contribute.

For more information, please contact Linda Drage at the college 0427 514 778.

National Simultaneous Storytime

Book Winners

We have four lucky recipients of this

year’s National Simultaneous Storytime

Book ‘Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas’

by Lucinda Gifford. These students were

chosen by Mr Gladwin for their exemplary

work in the library. Well done!
