HIGHLIGHTS OF SPRING 2014

FAMILY BINGO EVENINGAs always, this wonderful family tradition was once again well attended. The gym was filled to capacity with parents and children all ready to yell out BINGO! Thanks to the committee that set up, ran the evening and cleaned up! We are looking forward to another great evening next February.

SPRING FUN FAIRWe were lucky to have a beautiful, warm, sunny day this year and the crowd did not disappoint! The halls and back playground were filled with our OPPS Community! Thank you to the tireless efforts of the Fun Fair Committee, the many volunteers and the staff who all pulled together to make this event a huge success. Please consider how you might be a part of this event next year!

NEW FUNDRAISER FOR 2014/15 We are excited to announce a new partnership with Tupperware! When ordering items featured in a special school featured catalogue, OPPS will receive up to 40% back! Look for these great fundraiser coming this fall!This fall we will also be adding delicious COOKIE DOUGH to the QSP fundraiser. Soon you will be able to order your favourite magazine as well as your favourite cookie dough! Something for everyone in the family to enjoy!

Track Your Dollars for the 2013/14 School YearHighlights of Projects Funded Through OPPS School Council

Each month, our School Council meets to receive good news reports from our school administration, our staff, our student leaders and on occasion, from special guest speakers.

School Council Meetings are also a time that school wide concerns are the focus of discussion. Parents are encouraged to bring items to our School Council Co-Chairs prior to the meeting for inclusion on the agenda. OPPS values the input and dialogue with the parents at meetings and representatives from the school administration and staff are always a part of our meetings.

During these meetings, the School Council also discusses and makes decisions on how to best support our school through the use of funds that are raised.

This year, among other things, the School Council has provided funding for:$2,000 for our community classrooms$2,500 for library improvements$1,000 for an electric piano$1,000 for kindergarten equipment and supplies$450 for volleyballs for the volleyball team$250 for Games group for lunchtime fun and learning through game$2,750 for Jazz Week - funds provided for 3 days of student learning through electives$5,735 for supply teachers to attend extra-curricular activities with students$225 for Forest of Reading program$615 for lice check at the beginning of the school year$600 to support students to attend OELC music camp$1200 for additional music supplies

These two very successful fundraisers have allowed the school council to raise funds that have been allocated to many of the projects funded by the OPPS School Council.
