The Club Committee wishes to sincerely thank all those involved in volunteering their time & those important Carnival Sponsors that allowed us to make a profit on the Carnival despite nomination numbers being less than 2010. The Club wishes to formally welcome our NEW COACH, Brian Campbell. Brain comes to us with a wealth of experience coaching. He was Assistant Coach with TAS Aquatic in Queensland & holds a Bronze License ASCTA accreditation. His enthusiasm & coaching expertise is evident in the improvement in our Junior Swimmers. He has made an impressive start & the improvement in the Performance Squad numbers has already been significant & we look forward to Brians continued involvement with these swimmers. As the number of swimmers at the club grows, so too must the coaching ranks & access made available Nationally Accredited Coaching courses being made available & technology employed in the coaching of swimmers. In an exciting addition to the coaching resources for the Club, the South Coast Swimming Club Committee has recently purchased an Underwater Camera, Laptop & related Software for use by our coaches in 2012. The Club believes that these purchases will be valuable tools in aiding our coaches to impart information related to stroke development & the overall improvement in swimming performance of our Club members. We plan to begin using this technology in February 2012 & hope to provide swimmers with USB footage to take home & view their techniques. If you would like more information regarding these purchases, feel free to approach any of the Committee Members on Pool Deck. Congratulations to Alice Whiley & Head Coach Paul Higgs on the selection of Alice onto the Swimming Australia 2011 National Bronze Squad. Selection is based on the performance of the swimmer, in Alices case, be the third, fourth, fifth or sixth place finisher in the Open Womens 10 km Event at the 2011 Australian Open Water Championships. Alice also recently competed in Fremantle, winning a Gold Medal in the 10 km event in a PB time of 2:02:33. Well done to both Alice & Paul on your achievements.

South Coast Swimming Club is one of the few clubs in SA to actually show a profit for their Carnival.

He has made an impressive start & the improvement in the Performance Squad numbers has already been significant & we look forward to Brian’s continued involvement with these swimmers.

As the number of swimmers at the club grows, so too must the coaching ranks & access made available Nationally Accredited Coaching courses being made available & technology employed in the coaching of swimmers.

In an exciting addition to the coaching resources for the Club, the South Coast Swimming Club Committee

has recently purchased an Underwater Camera, Laptop & related Software for use by our coaches in 2012.

The Club believes that these purchases will be valuable tools in aiding our coaches to impart information related to stroke development & the overall improvement in swimming performance of our Club members.

We plan to begin using this technology in February 2012 &

hope to provide swimmers with USB footage to take home & view their techniques. If you would like more information regarding these purchases, feel free to approach any of the Committee Members on Pool Deck.

Congratulations to Alice Whiley & Head Coach Paul Higgs on the selection of Alice onto the Swimming Australia 2011 National Bronze Squad. Selection is based on the performance of the swimmer, in Alice’s case, be the third, fourth, fifth or sixth place finisher in the Open Women’s 10 km Event at the 2011 Australian Open Water Championships.

Alice also recently competed in Fremantle, winning a Gold Medal in the 10 km event in a PB time of

2:02:33.

Well done to both Alice & Paul on your achievements.

Good Luck Guys!!!

All nominations for Swimming SA Meets will need to be done via the Swimming SA website

www.swimmingsa.org.au

Members may have noticed that the Swimming SA Website has changed somewhat, particularly the Calender of Events links. It is important that

after a swimmer has been nominated for an event, members check the website to ensure the nomination is correct.

Due to changes made by Swimming SA, the club is expected

to provide time-keepers & officials for ALL Carnivals & Swimming SA sanctioned events.

Time is running out to purchase your PROIRITY TICKETS for the National Olympic Trials held at the

Marion Swimming Centre in March, 2012. Members should’ve received an email from Swimming Australia on how to purchase your priority tickets before they go on sale to the public on 9

th of January.

If you are attending the National Championships, why not show your ‘true

colours’ & promote our club at the same time, by purchasing some official club attire. This is a

great way to support the club financially, as well as providing Craig Nicoll with colourful support at the Championships.

The Phantom wishes ALL Club Members a HAPPY NEW YEAR for 2012.

I would also like to wish our New Coach Brian all the best & am pleased he has joined the ‘South Coast Family’.

Until next month…

Follow the Black Line!!!
