Welcome to Term Two! It is wonderful to see the return of our families as well as a number of new families to Bellevue School. Board of Trustees Elections The Board of Trustees elections will be held over this term. All parents / legal guardians will receive via mail, nomination and voting papers. If you are considering standing as a candidate and would like to know more about the function and role of the Board of Trustees feel free to come and have a chat with me or go to www.nzsta.org.nz. Being a Board member is a most rewarding role. Bellevue School has been blessed with excellent Board of trustees. Bellevue School Charter/Strategic Plan 2019—2021. The Board has approved the 2019—2021 School Charter which has been forwarded to and accepted by the Ministry of Education. Electronic copies are available from the office. Bellevue School 2018 Annual Report The Board of Trustee’s Annual Report is available to view on the school’s website www.bellevue.school.nz School Cross Country Students are already preparing for our school cross country which is to be held on Tuesday 17 May. You will have received information recently. If you are available to help with marshalling please email Clare Lawrence: clawrence@ bellevue.school.nz. Term 2 & 3 Winter Sports Teams It is pleasing to see our students involved in the Bellevue School winter sports teams. This year we have three hockey teams, two netball teams and four miniball teams. Thank you to staff and parents who have offered to manage and coach the teams. Teacher Only Day Reminder The school will be closed Friday 10 May to enable all teaching and support staff to attend professional development in Restorative Justice Practice. Paid Union Meeting Reminder School will finish at 12:25pm Wednesday 8 May to enable all teaching to attend a union meeting 1:30 at Mount Maunganui Intermediate. Teddy Bear’s Picnic A huge thank you to the Student Leaders who organised and ran a most successful Teddy Bear’s Picnic for the Juniors. The afternoons activities included: Parachute Teddy, Teddy in a Bucket, Teddy Bear Tag, What’s the Time Teddy, Obstacle Teddy; Teddy Hunt and a shared lunch. Access to the School Newsletter We will no longer be sending hard copies of the school newsletter home via your child. The school newsletter will be emailed out to families who have supplied us with email addresses. You can also access the newsletter through our website www.bellevue.school.nz. Go Carter! Carter won the 7 year old boys Field Champion
(Discus, Shot Put and Long Jump) And he also won the “BIG” one for 7-10 year olds Junior Lions Trophy, for the most points earned throughout the season. We are very proud of you!

Making a splash in the Bay! Congratulations to Devlin Langton for competing in the Tall Poppies Year 7&8 BOP Swimming Championships last term. Devlin made it through the heats into the finals in 100m medley, 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke. He placed 2nd overall in the year 7 boys 50m freestyle and 3rd in year 7 boys 100m freestyle races. Well done Devlin!
